Burgess Park is a lovely and lively neighborhood park tucked in the neighborhood. It does get busy at times, but that's part of the charm. There's so much going on, a soccer field, a skate park, a duck pond, tennis course, swimming pool, and plenty of small paths for walking. There's also a library on-site that I haven't checked out yet. With all the space and variety, it's a great place to spend time outdoors. Also a bonus is when the ducks have small babies running around, they are the cutest to watch as the little ducklings bring a smile to my face. There's plenty of parking, and with a police station nearby, it feels like a fairly safe park even in the evenings. My husband and I used to walk here all the time, and it's a great place to enjoy the outdoors. read more

This huge park is kinda like a sports complex!! They have a swimming pool, basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, a skate park, a recreational center, a library, and a kids play area! There is also a little pond near the main parking lot, if you want to catch some shade on a hot day and watch the ducks. They do a good job maintaining this park, and it seems to be a place that people go to often here in Menlo Park!! read more

Burgess Park - Where Tony Hawk Energy Meets Family BBQs Burgess Park is the local hotspot where families, athletes, and skaters cross paths in the best way possible. Weekends here feel like a neighborhood festival--birthday bounce houses going strong, baseball games in full swing, and daily soccer matches lighting up the fields. There's a constant hum of energy, but never chaos. Just good, clean community vibes. For the skaters: this park doesn't play around. The skatepark has features ranging from beginner-friendly to borderline pro--think Tony Hawk Pro Skater in real life. The 10+ ft bowl drop? Yeah, it's not for the faint of heart (or the underslept). It's scooter-friendly, too, so younger riders can get in on the action without fear of side-eyes from seasoned boarders. Right next door is the Arrillaga Family Gym and Pool complex, which is just as solid as it sounds. You've got a full gym, a legit swimming pool, and plenty of space for structured fitness--or just some cool-down laps after a hot day on the turf or at the park. Arrillaga Gym is a prime destination for Stanford alumni--if you're hunting for strength-based training space and a built-in community, this is your spot. Think of it as a reunion in motion. Other Cardinal-approved hangouts include Coupa Café, Alpine Inn, Rose & Crown, Nola, Dutch Goose, and Sancho's Taqueria--each with its own flavor of nostalgia and good company. And if you're trying to extend your chill time, there's a public library just across the way--quiet, clean, and a great pit stop with the kids or if you just need a calm moment. Let's talk about the Menlo Park Police Station just steps away--convenient, even if they once gave me an overnight parking ticket that felt like I robbed a bank (I didn't). Still, it's nice knowing they're close by Bonus perks: The walking path to Alma Street is a peaceful stroll, great for morning jogs or stroller walks, and the Caltrain hums in the background like a lo-fi beat--close enough to walk to, far enough not to interrupt your vibe. read more

Wonderful park! Great place to take kid and play with a nice mix of shade and sun. You can also run over to the library nearby as well!

This park has everything! It is a pretty big size that contains baseball fields, soccer fields, skate park, and One basketball court. The first thing you notice about Burgess Park is how big the fields are. They are plenty of eating areas and benches. Also in the park is a Rec center, Library, Police station, Gym, and Pool. Good size park with plenty to do! read more

Burgess Park is a beautiful, massive park in Menlo Park with an impressive set of all different kinds of athletic facilities - it has everything!!! It's a huge recreation area for baseball, basketball, soccer, frisbee, swimming, skateboarding, tennis - you name it! I sought to take as many pictures as I could to capture everything - the park is absolutely enormous. All the fields, parks, courts, pools, etc. are so well maintained and well run. So many people were hanging out all over the park on the basketball court, the skateboard park, the pool, or eating at tables with friends, family, or by themselves, just having a good time. The flowers and plant life in general around the park were also colorful and gorgeous. I would definitely recommend spending quality time in the park - it is a special place, and you will always be able to find activities there that you will enjoy and keep you engaged and happy!!! read more

We went here today with the kids because it was 1000 degrees! They have an awesome toddler pool with a sprinkler thing in it. The pool was clean and the water looked clear so at least I could convince myself that I was not dipping my feet in cloudy pee. The drop in fee was $7 and $5 for kids. Attentive life guards and honestly a really relaxing afternoon. read more

Burgess Park offers a great selection of everything you want to find at your local park. There is a baseball field, soccer field, tennis courts (you can buy a key at the sports center), a playground for kids and even a skate park. The park is generally clean and they have plenty of water fountains and public bathrooms. I love that people of all ages use this park and there always seems to be family activities going on during the weekends. There is a great spot near the baseball field with bbq pits. I've even seen many families set up bounce houses for their kids parties. I mostly come to jog or use the tennis courts. Right next to the park is a gym, library, pool/aquatics center and gymnastics center. read more

Wow, they have really done a number on this park! And I mean that in a good way. I've lived in MP for almost ten years, and when I first moved here (just around the corner, actually), this park looked terrible! It used to just be the library, police station and community center/pool surrounded by scrubby dirt fields and unkempt landscaping. Now, it is a veritable neighborhood gem, with a skate park, beautifully landscaped soccer fields, baseball fields, pool and little kids' playground. There are several picnic areas that are available to reserve, as well as well-kept bathrooms. Glad to see my taxpayer dollars at work. Good job, Menlo Park! read more

The park seems nice, but my review is mainly for the incompetent staff that work there. I came to play tennis with a friend and it was our first time so we didn't know we needed a key. I called the number on the sign and the lady said we could pick up a key from the gym office. I asked her where the office was and she just said to walk down Alma. Not very helpful. I get to the office and see an older man sitting in the office, but no woman. He sees me standing there and asks if I need help. I told him I wanted the key to the tennis court and he said they don't have any. I told him I just spoke with a lady 2 minutes ago and he bafflingly asked me if I wanted to use the pool. I think he was partially deaf because this Abbott and Costello routine lasted a few minutes before the receptionist came out from the bathroom. I told her I wanted a key and I had just talked to someone (she hesitated to say it was her). She said she never checked and now realizes there are no keys. I asked if there was another way to get in or to get a key and she said maybe the pool guy will have one (what is the obsession with the pool??). Frustrated, I asked if there are other public courts around and the lady stared blankly at me while the guy kept spewing gibberish. Finally, he said maybe someone will be at the courts on Middle and I left completely annoyed. Basically, if you need any help here, don't expect it from the buffoons who are supposed to be managing the park. Both of them were complete idiots. read more

Huge park. Awesome for the kidlets to run their little bodies tired. Parking is okay on the backside, but the parking lot limit is 1 hr during the daytime - really? Maybe I'm parking in the wrong spot, but isn't this odd for a park? read more

Nice quiet park, peaceful. Lots of room for kids to play on even though their soccer field is under constructions. People in this neighborhood behave very properly. read more

I've been going to a few parks in the Bay lately and this is one of my favorites (especially for old guys like me). Gates are already open at 7am so easy to hit before work. Layout is pretty efficient with some nice long ledges and transitions and slanted ledges that won't kill you. The transition boxes require some work to get speed but the bowl setup is really nice and you can go from low difficulty to higher in a nice route and put together a fun run. read more

A very pleasant surprise for us. The pond was a big hit for my little guy. I thought he would be afraid of the ducks but they were not aggressive and kept their distance. I only wish they had benches around for people to enjoy. Lots of activities for one place! We'll be back for a picnic and more. *clapping hands* read more

Great place, I grew up here and did dance classes here as well (years ago). Beautiful grounds! they have a Little League field, a softball field, a soccer field, a playground, BBQ and tables, a gymnastics facility, big grassy area for picnics or kids to play around, several pools, tennis courts, a new gym and a new rec area The library is close by too and Caltrain as well! read more

Beautiful park great for active sports or just reading a book!

Burgess Park is incredibly well equipped and very convenient to our house. We go here nearly every day and are happy to have such a wonderful public resource near us. There is everything from a playground, 3 pools, soccer fields, baseball fields, a gymnastics area (now under construction), basketball courts, a skate park, the library, a duck pond, picnicing areas and a community center with classes like yoga classes and rooms for children's birthday parties. I'm surprised to not see more reviews. In the spring the park is quite pretty and is filled with large cherry trees. It also feels very safe and is a well utilized, though not over utilized resource. read more

The large trees shelter adults and kids alike from the summer heat. I have had to most pleasant naps here, stretched out on one of the benches while my wife pushes my kid on the swings. Five stars ... more comfortable than my bed. read more

I love that the park is so close to my home. But why is there never anyone walking their dogs (or even walking without their dogs) at night?
