I've been going to RefinedMd for a few years now. 99% of people who see me, cannot tell I've ever…read morehad anything done to my face. That's precisely why I keep going back. My goal for my aesthetics is to look like me, but slightly better. I've had Botox: -around eyes -forehead -eye brow lift Upper lip(lip flip) And I've had Filler, In my lips. Each time I've had the most amazing experience with the staff and injector. My injector is Rachelle. First, she is STUNNING! Second, she is really good. I bruise no matter what. So there's that. But she always makes my lips look so natural. I wish I could say it's pain free, however my body metabolizes the numbing stuff so fast that I feel everything. Hahaha Rachelle is really amazing when it comes to natural aesthetics. This review was way overdue. Thank you to Rachelle for always making me look amazing!!

Extremely disappointed with this experience. We paid $300 (the lady on the phone reassured us this…read moreis nonrefundable but will be used on the operation if we proceeded) for a consultation that would b , waited over 30 minutes past our appointment time, and then the consult lasted only about two minutes. The doctor said she was not comfortable performing the procedure, even though photos had already been reviewed beforehand -- so I'm not sure why we were even scheduled and charged. We were told the surgery would cost between $600-$1200 and that the $300 consultation would be applied toward the operation. Afterward, they went back on that and said the consultation would not count. Then we received an estimate for $1800, which effectively cancels out the original $300 they said would be credited. This felt misleading and dishonest from start to finish. I would not trust their pricing or their promises.

(Please know it breaks my heart to have to write this type of review.)…read more In general, Dr. Schmitt was lovely. Easy going, knowledgeable, and addressed my issues quickly. My gripe is with the front desk staff/billing. I visited in early January 2022. Went to pay my bill right after seeing Dr. Schmitt and the credit card machine was down. As a Healthcare IT professional, I can undestand that. Things happen. I was expecting a charge for $124.32, as this was what they asked for on 1/11/2022. They couldn't process it so I informed them I'll just wait for the bill. It's now 3/1/2022 - and I still do not have the bill AND now I owe $180+! Where did this additional $60+ come from? Their statement: "You recieved skin tag removal - that's a cosmetic procedure. We don't send that to insurance." WHAT? You should have disclosed that at the appointment! You don't send everything to insurance? Why not? Who cares if its covered or not - let the insurance decide that. That's their entire job. This screams lack of transparency, shadiness, and overall a negative experience for patients - as now the bill is $60 higher than anticipated. Overall, just terrible billing practices. SHADY. Lastly, whoever was answering phones on 3/1/2022 @ 1PM needs a lesson in empathy. You may want to look at another dermatology office.

The scheduling experience should have been an early warning sign. It took several days of repeated…read morecalls just to secure an appointment at the Palo Alto office. I ultimately took time off work and drove over an hour to be seen. Upon arrival, we were greeted and roomed, and the medical assistant was courteous and professional. However, while we were waiting for the physician, a front desk clerk entered the room and informed us--only at that point--that our insurance was not accepted. We were told we would need to pay $200 out-of-pocket for the visit, in addition to any further services. I was frankly shocked. I have never encountered a medical practice that does not verify insurance coverage in advance, especially after multiple scheduling interactions. While the clerk did apologize, nothing further was done to assist us in any way, shape, or form. There was no attempt to offer alternatives, solutions, or even basic accommodation--just a blunt choice to either pay out of pocket or leave. This was an unacceptable experience and a complete waste of time, effort, and lost work hours. I left feeling dismissed and undervalued as a patient. The lack of accountability and inadequate administrative processes had a direct and significant impact on my experience. On top of that I was charged the office visit fee and after a week I have yet to receive a refund. I would not recommend this practice and will be cautioning others about their failure to properly manage something as fundamental as insurance verification.

Dr. Lee is a fine doctor but his billing office is incompetent…read more My husband went to see Dr. Lee in April 2024. They billed the wrong code so our insurance did not apply the plan contract price. Took us three phone calls and 8 months to fix the problem. Meanwhile, they kept billing us so we paid in full since we did not know what else to do and don't want to ruin our credit. After insurance finally got the right code to fix the bill in January 2025, we called the billing department for a refund (since we paid in full). No call back. Today, instead of getting a refund, we got a bill saying we owe more money because the bill fails to list the full payments we made. Now we have to call them again. No matter how good a doctor Dr. Lee is, it is not worth our time and energy to deal with the billing department. Dr. Lee: you deserve a better billing service!
