Great little store on the main rd in the centre of the village. Ideal for picking up provisions prior to a walk. It's one of those small stores that sells everything in a small space. read more

They have a good range of fresh fruit and veg, and the wine selection is quite extensive. There are often some good offers on the wine and beers if you buy more than one bottle. In the chilled cabinet at the back of the shop there is a lot of different cheeses and cold meats which are handy for packed lunches. They also do bread and rolls and I have been known to nip here for them when we run out during a barbecue. They also sell tobacco and you can top up your mobile, gascard and electric card here. The staff are really nice and if you want a carrier bag you have to ask for one.

Tesco Superstore
All we needed for a good dinner…read more After a long day (coming with the ferry from Ireland) and a bit of a drive we were looking forward to a home-cooked dinner. All we needed were the products. And on this Road Trip we've been always very happy with the products from Tesco. So we headed to Annan to stock up on groceries. It's a mid-sized Tesco, but had everything we needed that day. Dry-Aged steaks, Guacamole, Milk, Garlic Naan (always great, just 1£), fresh Salmon, veggies, beer and wine. Always a good stock of wines in Tesco, for good prices and every budget. Quality was - as usual - very good. Steak was nice and tender. Salmon tasted fresh too. Also a good moment to fill up the gas at Tesco's Gas Station and get some cash at the ATM outside. Another good visit at Tesco's.

We were staying a few blocks away, and needed a few items for dinner. We were traveling in December, and it was late and not many places were open due to the upcoming holidays. We picked up a few local beers and ciders, and some noshables to take to our room. Thank goodness this place was open because it was the only place in town open besides the liquor store! We were happy with our purchases!
This is a great local store, recently refurbished and has a really good variety of goods available…read more Ok, so it's expensive, but that's to be expected in a local convenience store. It's not as bad as a Mace, which really wants to stitch you up! The ready meals are of good quality and it even has a walk in beer fridge! I would give it 4 stars, but must strongly protest at the cost of the birthday cards. They're not priced, so you take them to the cash desk kind of guessing what you would think they are worth. You would be wrong.... £4.00 for a basic birthday card? £4.00? Really? This smacks of a scam to stick it to the unfortunate sod who has left it to the last minute. We'll pay anything to get out of a fix right? Wrong. My local village shop came up with the goods for £1.10 I know this is only a few quid, but £4.00 for a birthday card. Not even a fancy one at that. Come on Co-op there's no need for this kind of thing!

I…read moreremember asking classmates where I could find forks and laundry detergent and they would reply "at the spa" thinking I had to go to some beauty and day spa in town. I didn't quite understand and then one day, I saw it. Just a few yards from my dorm room. It is like a liquor, supermarket and wal-mart all condensed into a compact corner convenient store. The only thing was that they couldn't quite understand me when I asked for 'aluminum foil' because you have to say 'aluminium.' When I would run out of vodka, luncheon meat, gravy granules, tea and crumpets, frozen pizzas for 99 pence, or even fried chicken to get me through the cold, grueling days of studying, this Spar came to the rescue, everytime. I only have fond memories of this lifesaver. Oh yea, and they have instant ramen and siracha sauce too! What a relief!
SPAR is the largest convenience shop on campus and offers competitive prices on campus. This often means that I walk from the other end of campus just to get a particular brand or item that I can't buy in the nearer LUSU shop (aka Central Stores). I hear the SPAR baguettes are amazing, but I've yet to try them.
