I like the ethical stance of the Co-op. It stocks free range eggs and fairtrade products. This particular branch is a bit cramped, and queues can be horrendous, especially when schools have just finished for the day. The store now has a free ATM, and also sells newspapers, freshly baked bread and decent wine. There are independent shops elsewhere in Dalston where you can buy papers, bread, veg and eggs however. Staff can be very offhand, as can the customers. Stuff disappears off the shelf never to be stocked again, and they don't want to get it in for you. A friend of mine had a bag break just as he was leaving, with 2 small kids in tow. Stuff scattered all over the floor, not one customer or staff member helped him. Shame read more
