I have been coming here for my parents off and on for about a year. Finally doing a review. This is an upgrade from a Captain D's type spot. The food is always so fresh and prepared very well. There's pride in ownership as I've personally seen the owner cleaning and attending to the soda machine himself. The staff is always nice and welcoming and they will tell you the truth. For instance, when I asked about the banana pudding they let me know there's no actual bananas in it. That matters to me as I love bananas. It's always been a chill quiet vibe inside when I've visited. Could be good for a group but not a huge group. There's plenty of parking in the lot out front and they have bathrooms for patrons. Unassuming made to order seafood spot in a strip mall. I give it four stars but am a little more critical than other reviewers of it. Perch dinner with slaw and hush puppies: Portion of perch was great. The hush puppies not so much for a dinner portion I expected more puppies and slaw. Perch: perfect crunchy cornmeal forward coating. A few tough prices and spots but generally well cooked. A tad, not much, but a tad too greasy under the coating. Eat it while hot and can hardly tell. The biggest issue is it lacked seasoning. Perch and cornmeal were fine but it needed seasoned badly. Huspuppies. A little small so I wished for 1-2 more. However excellent cook crispy outside and soft inside and had that hint of onion that most miss when offering hush puppies. Slaw: Good enough. Pretty standard slaw offering. Leans sweet which I prefer Sauces: the cocktail sauce is amazing with a perfect punch of horseradish. More people should talk about this sauce lol The tarter was in a packet. Sharks Seafood was a fantastic place to eat! My parents recommended the place as I didn't even know we had one here in Louisville. (Not sure if these are the same folks that own the stores in the Chicago area.) The outside area is unassuming but when you get in and get your food, be prepared to be blown away! My wife and I both had the fried tilapia sandwich with fries and the fish was PIPING hot! All of the food tasted very fresh and came up pretty quickly. We also had the hushpuppies which were hot and delicious too! We will definitely be going back as soon as possible! They're closed on Sundays which would have been our second visit in a week but we'll be back for sure. read more

Had lunch today. Being in a strip mall there is plenty of parking. If you are looking for some fried seafood then Shark's Seafood might be what you are looking for. In addition to fish they also offer wings. But we came for fish so I got the Cod Sandwhich. It was hot and crispy and the rye bread was nice and soft. Fries were crispy on the outside but under seasoned. Added some salt and they were decent fries. Almost everything on the menu is froed so if your looking for a lot of grilled/steamed options this might nit be the place for you. You order at the counter when you cone in. The food is served in disposable styrofoam containers. They keep most condiments behind the counter which is a little frustrating if you want more than what they initially give you. I had heard their wings were unmatched in Louisville, so I went into this business with the anticipation of grabbing myself an order. Being gluten-free, I always ask how the food is made and the ingredients for each dish. This business uses a flour mixture on their wings. It was my misunderstanding, I thought these wings were akin to Buffalo Wings, they are more like fried chicken wings. I perused the menu and saw a catfish meal, and since catfish is typically breaded with cornmeal, I asked about the ingredients. The order taker advised they use a flour/cornmeal mixture, but he could tell them to use only cornmeal. So my order entailed a cornmeal breaded 2-piece catfish meal with fries and green beans. I took my food to go. The fish was so greasy, it was not edible. Besides the grease level, I mean it was thoroughly saturated, their was no seasoning whatsoever on the fish. Bland and greasy is not a pleasant experience for the palate. I only tried one fry, as after one bite, I discovered they were coated with some sort of flour mixture. The green beans were straight out of a can, soggy and no seasoning at all. This place was super busy, so maybe it was just my personal experience, but I will not be returning. read more

I've always loved Sharks. The meals looked a little bit less than what I was used to from their first location, but in a good way, it's actually the proper serving for a meal and you won't leave hungry. The staff was nice, greeted us as soon as we walked in and told us to take our time as we looked through their menu on the wall. The place looked very clean and it had a nice laid back atmosphere with a couple of television's set to different stations. The food didn't take long at all. You can dine in or to go. Out of all of my 23 years of living in Louisville, I do not think that I have ever been to this part of town. And maybe that is why Sharks does not have a bigger name, but who knows. All I knew was that I was hungry, and craving some good seafood. Their menu is very big. All kinds of different options that you can choose from. I had never heard of Catfish in 'nugget' form, but holy hell...it was delicious!!! Everything is cooked to order, so it comes out very fresh and crispy. You also get a couple sides with your order, so it includes a heck of a lot of food for a good deal. I also immediately noticed how friendly everyone is here. It's not often that you go somewhere to eat and all of the staff are smiling, talking to the customers, etc...but I felt very welcome here. The next time you're wanting some seafood, try Sharks. The other sides they offer are French fries and green beans. The portion sizes were decent. The hushpuppies were great! I wished the hushpuppies were a bit bigger though. But the taste of the fish and the pups was fantastic! Perfectly cooked! The coleslaw was a cross between KFC and Long Johns, very tasty, sweet, crunchy slaw! The coleslaw wasnt dry, it was made just right. The prices were above average, this is not Mc Donald's. You receive a great product for the price you pay. The service was great as well. Sharks has some of the largest jumbo shrimps and they are fries so crispy and good. If you go on a Friday prepare for a wait, but it's worth it.
