It really depends on the stylist you get. Some are great at cutting the kids hair while dealing with their chaos and others less so. In terms of the cut itself, they do an ok job. Again, I think super stylist dependent as sometimes you get the cut you want and it's nice and even and other times you don't. But the kids do a good job being entertained and it's on the third floor of the mall where the only other main attraction is the free playground. So located in a great spot. They charge medium price I would say, between 30-45. And the kids leave with a candy and / or a balloon after their cut. They don't wash, just cut and style. They also sell toys and hair products that are branded. The hair products all smell good, but we haven't tried them. read more

On Sunday my 7 year old autistic son with adhd went to get a a nice haircut for school. The workers were very supportive and kind to my special needs son making sure he was comfortable Throughout the haircut. There was only one problem, the haircut. When we got home he looked in the mirror and immediately started screaming and crying because of the cut. Monday at school he was bullied and started having a panic attack in class and I had to pick him up. This has taken a toll on my son's mental health. He does not want to attend school anymore and cries even thinking about school. He has no friends or support at school from his peers. We had a FANTASTIC experience for my 4 year old's very first haircut. I was nervous because she hates it when I touch or brush her hair - but she was smiling ear to ear the whole time here. They explained things to her as they went, but most of all they really made her feel special. They noticed she was holding a toy bunny and gave the bunny a haircut-cape to wear just like her, and also gave bunny hair clips to wear on its ears. After cutting they offered to braid her hair - this braid was so elaborate and amazing, on hair that is so thin and hard for me to braid! When the braid was done they offered to make it her favorite color - purple - and sprinkled a little rainbow glitter. This was all super appropriate for her age and they checked with us first, and she was absolutely THRILLED. The few products they used tiny bits of were all natural and designed for kids, and they let us know about each one before applying it. She got a free balloon and lollipop. There was absolutely zero "up selling" - they didn't try to sell us other products or anything (but so be aware they stock some toys including Disney princess dolls that are easily on display - but she got so many other treats she didn't even ask us for one). Hair stylist was clearly super experienced with kids and made our girl so comfortable. This is just a fun happy place and we'll definitely be back. read more

We recently got my 2 year old son's hair cut here, after it's of searching. At first we were skeptical but I couldn't be happier with the result! I can't remember the name of the woman who cute my child's hair but she was so patient and sweet! She made the entire experience exciting and calm at the same time. She made sure my son was happy and entertained/distracted and the haircut was absolutely perfect and is growing out so nicely!! If you want anything different then a short crew cut for your son where the sides of their head is super short then don't come here. I repeatedly said I wanted his hair long on the sides and top. I wanted his top long enough I could brush it to the side and see it feather past his ears. The old money style hair cut. I did not want to use any buzzer or shave the sides. The lady didn't talk much. I showed her a bunch of Pinterest pictures to start. She said she understood and while she was cutting I even had to stop her a couple times because she was trying to cut the top of his hair down rather than listening to what I wanted. I wanted to yank him out of the chair and leave and not pay. I was pissed. It's been a couple days before I posted the review so I would cool down and not rage review. I'm still upset. We have family photos coming up, a family vacation, this was his first hair cut and it cost over $40 to not get what I asked for. For the first hair cut they usually cut a curl for a mom to save a baby curl. Not this crazy hairstylist she was passive aggressive. Chopping away aggressively with scissors not listening to me when I said not short. Note: as a parent we pay a premium and spend more time to drive out of your way to find a children's hair salon to trust with our first haircuts. We expect stylist to have patients with kids and parents for a first hair cut let us take pictures etc... The experience here is over rated. I would recommend a mom just cut her kids hair at home rather than come here. We will not be back. I still want a refund, the stylist didn't offer customer service and is a 1 trick pony stylist who can only offer 1 style of hair cut for boys. Very disappointed with the service we received at Sharkey's. We walked in right before they were taking lunch which we were not aware of. The front desk people told me that they couldn't take us in but one of the hairdressers said they would do it quick since it was a boys cut. Well I would have preferred that she just turn us away. She took all of 3 minutes to butcher my sons hair. And seemed to be in a big rush to get us out of the salon. His hair looks totally chomped on. And my son is not a difficult cut. He is easily distracted and does not cry. After I voiced my concerns and dissatisfaction with the cut she preceded to gaslight me saying the cut was good and that it was just his thin hair. There is zero blending and it's totally uneven. Very expensive cut $40+ dollars that I would have done a better job at home myself. read more

I recently brought my daughter here again for her back to school haircut and it was another great experience! Tomarra was the stylist and she did a good job cutting my daughter's hair. She was really friendly and she even styled my daughter's hair, added glitter and a scent (my daughter chose cotton candy)! My daughter loved it. Also, now that Covid restrictions have lifted, they give you a manicure after your haircut too! What a fun surprise! My daughter absolutely loved getting her nails painted and with glitter. It's no surprise my daughter already asked to go back. What four year old wouldn't want to get pampered like that again, haha ;) Unfortunately though like everything else, prices have gone up since the last time we came. I think it ended up being $50 with tip! I guess for the overall experience though and only coming once or twice a year, I'm okay paying that, just hope prices don't keep increasing. read more

I scheduled "my first hair cut" appointment for my daughter. As we walked in we were greeted by the receptionist. She told us we could choose the station we wanted. She turned on the tv with cocomelon. We chose the hello city car. It was dirty, there were pieces of lolly pop & lots of hair. The far did little to nothing to entertain a child. Her stylist was Lana. She came to the station at exactly 2:40pm. She asked if we wanted her before picture taken, which of course I said yes. She went to get the camera only to come back to say "It has no battery" How annoying is that, if you know you have an appointment that requires a camera due to the package chosen I would assume they would have that ready. She then proceeded to put the cape & spray her hair down. She asked what we wanted done & I explained what we envisioned. She did a nice job cutting my daughters hair. My only issue was that she left my daughters neck with a bunch of hair. My daughter was scratching her neck. I picked her up & was blowing the hairs away from her body. At any adult salon they would use a blow dryer or a puffy brush to remove the tiny hairs. It was a 10min service with a $40 charge. We will not be returning. From the outside looking in seems like the best place for a child's hair cut but for that price you can go to a generic salon & get the same quality cut. Didnt take more photos because there were more kids & want to respect their privacy! read more

They even give balloons and lollipops after each cut. My daughter received a terrible, uneven haircut. Her stylist didn't bother to ask me if she wanted her hair washed (it's supposed to be included) and just proceeded with a spray bottle. My daughter has thick shoulder length hair. She rushed through the cut and once we got home we saw how uneven it is. There's even an extra long dangling piece. My daughter had been begging to get her hair cut in a car. After calling around trying to get a same day appointment, we finally were able to get an appointment. While we were there they have a display for ear piercings. My niece talked up how cool it would be for my daughter to get her ear pierced so my 3 year old decided to do it! I asked if they could pierce both ears at the same. They did but one of the guns malfunctioned and the earring didn't go through all the way. The lady was even trying to push the earring through. I tried to remain calm as I didn't want to freak out my daughter.But that was horrible. Not even an apology... they just said it happens and they will contact the manufacturer. We took my niece here for a badly needed haircut and they delivered. Located at the top of Bellevue Square next to the Ferry playground, this place always looks busy with kids. To avoid having to wait or get turned away, my sister-in-law made an appointment to take my niece in. When we got there, we were greeted by the nice lady behind the counter who welcomed us and had our appointment queued up. The space is nice filled with bright colors and organized and each stylist chair was in the shape of a car. Being a big Disney Princess fan, my niece quickly chose the Frozen car with Anna and Elsa and off they went. As I mentioned previously, my niece desperately needed a trim especially in the back. Because her hair in the back was so wispy and the length grew out uneven, it almost looked like a mullet. Luckily, the stylist knew what she was doing as she turned my niece's hair from a straight hair mess into a Jennifer Aniston-type bob. It really framed my niece's well and you can tell the stylist knew how to cut children's hair. My sister-in-law and I were really happy with the way it turned out. I was really impressed with the way Sharkey's accommodates children. If you kid is a bit fussy, they have lots of ways to distract him/her. Video games, TV, and other fun entertainment. It's really kid friendly. At the end of the cut, we let my niece pick something from the small toy area to take home. She chose some bracelet accessories and a ring pop to go with her new hairdo. Overall, we had a great experience. The staff and stylist were very friendly and my niece left happy. The lady behind the counter told us that they also host kid's parties during the weekend with kids' manicures and makeup and hair styling. We were blown away by their safe covid- procedures and friendliness. Upon arrival, there was a table cleaned and reserved just for us to sit while we waited for our appointment. It's definitely very cute, conveniently located and draws kids in but my experience here have been less than what I would expect from a "fun" place. Scheduling online is fairly easy but what you book isn't what you get. The first appointment I made, I received a message saying that the stylist that I had signed up for (per the Yelpers recommendations) was not available and that I would be getting someone else. The second time I made an appointment for a specific time, I was again left a message saying that the time I had requested has been moved. The online scheduling should only have the stylists and times available - an occasional change is understandable but 2 out of 2 times I've scheduled, both appointments had to be changed! Booking an appointment was already pretty difficult as even when I tried booking 1-2 weeks out, the online scheduling has very limited dates and times. And if you try walking in, I've been told twice there's no availability even though there's literally no one in there. My first actual haircut experience was ok - however, the second time, my stylist was 15 minutes late (and this was on top of them pushing back my appointment time that I had signed up for). Having a toddler wait is a hard thing to do despite there being some TV playing. When the stylist arrived, she never apologized for her tardiness either. The stylist never asked my child's name either which wasn't very personable. For $35, there are definitely better places for kids to get their hair cuts! read more

I took my three year old daughter here recently so she could have a professional cut. I usually cut her hair, but she was starting school and I thought a professional may do a better job. Two stars instead of one because our stylist was very nice and accommodating, but the cut was not great--just a straight across chop, but it was pretty uneven, and I really didn't like the way my daughter's hair fell at the ends. I thought they might "lie down" a bit more in a day or so, but her hair just continued to look like it was hacked off. Regardless of the cut, I'm pretty forgiving, I was most irritated by the price and the fact that they don't offer a la carte pricing. $32-ish was supposed to cover a shampoo, cut, nail polish, hair glitter/do. My daughter would probably not have tolerated having her hair shampooed, but it wasn't even offered to us, and I didn't want her nails painted or hair glittered. We JUST needed the hair cut, so the fact that it wasn't a particularly nice cut really annoyed me since it basically cost us $3/minute in the chair--no joke.
