If I could, I'd give them 4.5 stars!…read more My appointment was for 1:15, and I arrived a little early (around 12:50) and was given a coffee, but my appointment started 40 minutes late, and with a different stylist than I'd booked which was a bit disappointing (but Erin was great and did a fab job.) I wanted a hair cut and some silvery blonde highlights put in, and as my hair is naturally dark she warned me she might not be able to get it as silvery as I wanted but would definitely try to get it as light as possible, and put finer highlights in the roots so that it would grow out nicely. She gave me a rough trim and began putting the foils in my hair - which is a lot thicker than it looks so took longer than expected but took even longer as there was not a receptionist on hand and Erin kept needing to answer the phone and speak to people coming in from the street (not even booked clients), which I wouldn't have minded at all on the odd occasion but eventually meant she was abandoning me for a few minutes or so at a time every 5 minutes. They were quite understaffed but Erin explained the receptionist was off as it was half term, and was very apologetic eventually offering me an extra 10% off my haircut to apologise. All the staff were really friendly, and Erin did a really thorough and careful job on my hair, putting in appropriate toner and asking me what tone I'd prefer (a more lilac finish or more blonde- I went for lilac, as the toner fades after a while). The colour took to my hair and lifted surprisingly well, and the finish looks really professional, hasn't damaged my hair too much and looks vastly different to my previous mousy locks so I'm very happy. The cut was done well and to the style I wanted after we'd finished the colour. I paid £104 for the cut and colour (colour was 50% off, and cut was 10% off as mentioned earlier), which was worth the money- only thing was the toner cost an extra £14 which I was not made aware of on the phone, I was told it would only cost around £90 altogether, which was a bit disappointing and irritating as I'm a student and need to be told in advance how much I'll be paying. I did tell Erin this and she apologised and said I should have been told this in advance on the phone- but this needs to be put into practice and is the reason I can't give them the full 5 stars (alongside the slightly distracted service)- but hair wise they did a really solid professional job and I would definitely recommend them and their friendly service. Erin made it very clear that if I was in any way unhappy I could go back and she could sort it for me- which is always really reassuring to know!

The salon is fairly new and well maintained with a clean and fresh look. I bought a course of treatments, which were conducted by various staff members each time I attended. I think it would have been more helpful to have been treated by one consultant consistently so that they would be familiar to me and the area I was getting treated. They sell Jane Iredale make-up, which is fantastic for your skin. It's mineral-based so does good to your skin whilst making you look good! However, when I brought a friend in to sample it she was told that they don't try it out on people, which defeats the purpose of trying to sell it.

Yet I cannot emphasise enough how talented these beauticians are at removing hair so effectively, quickly and painlessly. Obviously waxing hurts (depending on your pain threshold) but these guys have been the least painful to the MANY salons I've tried out. Nikky was my favourite therapist but she has sadly moved on. However, the rest of the team is just as fantastic. The prices are steeper than other places I've been to but it's worth every penny when you know you're getting superb service. They're very hygienic in their waxing implementation, always run on time and have a great loyalty scheme.

I was asked to lay on the bed and use my hand to pull my skin tight around the eyebrow. The woman then literally wrapped what looked like string around her fingers and got to work! As well as threading the unwanted hair, they also trim your eyebrows giving you a really fresh clean cut look. Definitely worth trying.

Even though I rang at half five on a Friday night to book an appointment, Beena fit me in immediately and I ran straight over. Located within TipTop Photography on the corner of Warstone Lane and Spencer Street, you ascend up a non-descript staircase and into Beena's neutrally designed studio. Beena was incredibly welcoming and the addition of Radio 2 in the background made me feel very relaxed. She asked me what my normal routine was for my eyebrows, and considering I don't normally do anything, this bit of the conversation was rather short! Beena then talked me through what she was going to do and then began to tweeze and thread. I'd not really had threading done before, so it took a bit of getting used to, but I managed it! The whole process took about ten minutes and afterwards I was thoroughly impressed, I have two eyebrows and they are perfectly shaped!
