Although it's normally best to pre book your appointment, I was walking by and went in on the off chance they could thread my eyebrows and they fitted me in. I was asked to lay on the bed and use my hand to pull my skin tight around the eyebrow. The woman then literally wrapped what looked like string around her fingers and got to work! It wasn't as painful as I expected and afterwards I have to say, my eyebrows had never looked so primed. As well as threading the unwanted hair, they also trim your eyebrows giving you a really fresh clean cut look. Definitely worth trying. read more

I regularly get my eyebrows threaded here which, whilst painful, it always done immaculately. Today I had a set of natural lashes done by Mandeep. She has the patience of a saint and after 1.5 hours of wonderful relaxation, I have the most amazing eyelashes! Thank you Mandeep, you have worked magic and I am booked in for my rebalance in a fortnight. I am also having nail extensions done on Friday which I know will be amazing. Highly recommended. There are few things more traumatic than having hair ripped away from your skin when it's not done by en expert. I've had the horrors of my brows being massacred by a less than talented therapist, giving me the wonderful gift of two years of painful gappy regrowth. Waxing is the devil. Well, this drama has been left in the past now. I am now in a much happier relationship with the discovery of Kiran at Marco Benito. She has been shaping, and grooming my brows through the regrowth period using threading. Kiran has helped me to remain patient as I wait for the gaps in my brows to be filled, and a more flattery shape to be restored to my eye area. Brows really do make a face. Each treatment takes only a few minutes, and appointments are not necessary. Each appointment starts with a quick chat to make sure that it is clear what the end result is going to be from the threading session. Then the threading can begin. Once the hair removal is complete, Kiran applies soothing aloe vera to the brow area as it helps with any redness. I'm finally nearing a point in my brow story, where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Things are shaping up as they say. Only a few tiny gaps left in one brow, and my faith in threading will be restored. Thou shalt never wax thy brows is the moral of this story. Marco Benito is tucked away in Picadilly Arcade just off New Street, well located for the train station. I have had my eyebrows threaded here for a few years as I can't find anywhere else handier. The girls are really skilled, it is amazing watching them do the job. What I have found though is that if you find one of the women particularly good at creating the shape you like, take a note of her name and call to make sure she is in that day. I have never managed to get the same one twice so the shape of my eyebrows changes slightly every time! I have also had good leg waxes here too. read more

Had my first shellac manicure done here in May this year and then again (back to back) in June. The therapist was a bit heavy handed compared to what I am used to and I ended up with bleeding cuticles. Was overall happy with the shellac polish and how long it lasted. However, when I came to having the nail polish removed I was left to soak both my hands in acetate for just over 30 mins which I have subsequently learned is an absolute no no and certainly not how a good salon should remove the varnish. I removed the second lot myself by soaking a pad in acetate, covering the nail and wrapping in foil for 10 mins - which is how the salon should have done it. Also, the second time I was very disappointed that they had run out of the specific colour I wanted (the same as the therapist was wearing!) and alternative choices were poor. I have also subsequently read that there is a special nail oil that the therapist should have recommended to me to use whilst I was wearing the varnish - she didn't. Have read quite a few articles about how bad shellac is for the nails and I haven't had one since June although I'm having one in a couple of weeks time at a different salon for a special occasion. It will be interesting to compare the two salons. Overall I think shellac nails are great but shouldn't be used back to back and you should definately use oil regularly on your nails both when they are polished and when bare. I like Decleor's Aromessence Ongles but I'm sure any good quality oil will suffice. Final point as regards MB - I find it all a bit cramped especially when there are 3 of you getting your nails all done at once, there is hardly room to breath. read more

Marco Benito is the best place in central Birmingham to get your eyebrows done. I have regular Mani and Pedi's here too. The staff are friendly and always do a good job. I recommend this place to everyone who asks where I get my nails/eyebrows done. The prices are a little expensive compared to other nail and brow salons, but you always get exceptional service and finish. The walk in service for threading is great. As a regular visitor I have loyalty cards for nails and eyebrows, which enables me to get my eyebrows done for free after a set number of mani/pedi's and brow threading.
