He looked at it, closed his eyes in deep recall, and said, "that's a porokeratosis of Mibelli. Yes, we can try freezing it". He did, and it healed completely and has not returned. The literature shows they can return. My previous dermatologist never even bothered to try. If you want a scholar with a can do attitude, there you go.

And honestly, as somebody with a public health background who has actually studied racial disparities in healthcare, maternal health inequities, structural racism in medicine, and culturally responsive care, I find that incredibly disturbing. Finding white doctors has never been the issue. Black people can find white doctors everywhere. The issue is that Black communities have historically experienced dismissal, undertreatment, bias, worse outcomes, and lack of cultural understanding within healthcare systems. That is why resources like Find A Black Doctor exist in the first place. To see a physician, especially one with an MPH, participate in attacking a resource meant to help Black patients navigate those realities says a lot to me. Public health is supposed to teach you to look at health holistically and understand how systems, racism, history, culture, trust, and access all intersect. This lawsuit feels like the complete opposite of that. And because he is part of this practice, yes, it absolutely impacts how I view this practice overall. If this practice stands behind this type of action, then personally, I would not recommend it to Black patients or to anyone who actually values equity and culturally competent healthcare. You do not have to wear a white hood to participate in actions that reinforce racist systems. Impact matters too.

The whole staff is incredibly kind, and the environment is so welcoming. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and will definitely be coming back! So when I got a consultation 18 months ago, they said they could do it on my port wine stain. Flash forward, I got pregnant so I couldn't get laser done. When I re-inquired, I was told the machine was down and it took close to 6 months for it to be back and running. I finally got an appointment for November 25th. I was told they now had 3 people trained on the Cutera laser (Christy who only works one day a week and is busy and booked forever wouldn't have to do it). Then, today, 3 business days before my appointment, Christy calls to tell me the other two Estheticians aren't comfortable doing this laser on my face because it's a port wine stain (aka not normal skin). She won't do it because she works one day a week and didn't want to take on a new client. I LITERALLY needed ONE 20 minute procedure. That is it. I'm top of that, not only did I change this appointment around a trip I had planned to get seen, I now haven't had this treatment done, which is medically needed, for 2 years. Before this, I had to drive to drive to Longmont to get procedure done because I was under the impression no one on the western slope had this laser. Lo and behold how excited I was that a local company (5 minutes away from me!!!) had it. I wouldn't have to spend money on gas, a hotel stay (as I can't drive after the procedure and healing wise), and saving time! BUT this company flat out told me 3 days before (after waiting 18 plus months to get laser done) that "they weren't comfortable doing it" because they haven't done it. Okay. Then how do you get better?! The only way you get better at something is by trying and not shying away. This could be discrimination as well. This laser would have been used on anyone else without a birthmark. I am BEYOND upset and disappointed. I have called and emailed this business NUMEROUS times over the past 6 months. I had to rearrange appointments so I could heal from this procedure and what did they do?! Cancel 3 days beforehand. And here is the best part, I'd do research and the closest place that has this exact laser is 3 hours away from Grand Junction! I cannot believe a local place would not help out a local person. Imagine this being a child who needed a medical procedure and a surgeon wouldn't do it because it's new and this child has to drive 4 hours instead. This business HAS THE LASER and people trained to do it, yet are choosing not to. By all means, sure it's their right or whatever, but how horrible. To leave one of your very own local people in the dust when you have the EXACT thing I need for my medical procedure. Shame. On. You.

The single worst experience of my life. 30 days down the road I am still experiencing daily and nightly pain and the aftermath (PTSD) of what a challenge it will be to recover mentally, emotionally and spiritually from the nightmare that it was and still is. That said, my experiences at ReGenesis (three visits to date) have been a very bright and shining light thanks to Dr. Pritcher and the nurses who have assisted in redressing the five large wounds. In particular I want to recognize Raini. She came in to help even though she basically is the nurse for one of the other docs and in the next two visits was willing to be my nurse since it has been such a challenge to wrap my mind around the damage to my body and psyche and I was so at ease with her beautiful nurse-side manner and techniques. I scheduled to have the 83 stitches removed there because of the kind and gentle and expert treatment I received when cleansing and redressing the wounds a week into the injuries. Their office staff member Vandy has been so kind and thoughtful - she was so patient getting before and after photos and made sure she had a chance to check on me today when I went in for the last assessment before the 3 month visit in April. She is a gem and I am forever grateful that these people entered my life exactly when I needed reassurance and encouragement. Between these two lovely human beings I was able to walk out today feeling comforted and hopeful that things will get better. They are so patient listening to my thoughts and answering my questions, extending compassion and wisdom and advice for self wound care. They could have suggested I go for these follow ups to my primary care facility but instead were so gracious and generous with their time and more than willing to go above and beyond in caring for me: I felt compelled to be there because of the depth of experience they all have with wound (incision for the cosmetic side of their practice) care. It is such a gift to feel so validated in a very busy medical office. These two ladies have been instrumental in giving me some measure of peace when I have been so sad and angry. I cannot speak highly enough of the personal care I received - never rushed and with the full attention and focus and the highest level of professionalism and human kindness. I would give them all ten stars if that was available. Thank you, Dr. Pritcher, Raini and Vandy (including Cara in the billing office and several other unnamed staff members.) I will be forever grateful to all of you for making what has been an almost intolerable (and very frightening) attack somehow better. You are all angels.

When in depth questions were asked, one staff member rolled her eyes when I had concerns over cost discussions. I had concerns about surgery. A person should be able to feel free to have questions answered. When I advised my observations about the Clinic caring more about income than patient care, this did not go over well. When asked if I wanted to complete the surgery, I said I needed to consider. The doctor told me he would not perform it. I made the correct choice not staying with this Clinic. I saw another XV doctor who ensured the surgery would be of benefit by having me wear compression stockings for a month to ensure the surgery would be of benefit. This Clinic said most don't wear as prescribed so we would forgo and move direct to surgery. I wish this Clinic well, but I made the correct choice to seek this type of care elsewhere. I've heard rave reviews about their cosmetic work though.
