At first, we…read morewere hesitant about eating at a food court as we imagined it would be like Taco Bell, Panda Express, Burger King, etc. But it turned out to be more like a modern food hall. It's inside a commercial building with over ten vendors offering a nice mix of cuisines: Vietnamese, Malaysian, Chinese, Mediterranean, and Korean, plus a few places for juice, açaí, and matcha drinks. We decided to try Eden Noodle, mainly because it had the longest line--which usually says something about how popular (and hopefully good) the food is. We ordered the pork ribs with rice noodles and the wontons in chili oil. We chose mild, but it was still quite spicy, so next time we'll definitely go for not spicy. The ordering process was super easy. You go to one of the three kiosks, grab a pager with a number, enter your order, pay, and wait for the buzzer to go off when your food's ready--it took about 15 minutes for ours. There's plenty of seating--tables, chairs, and benches--and you often end up sharing a table with strangers. That might feel unusual for Americans, but it actually reminded me of Hong Kong, where space is limited and communal dining is the norm. Overall, portion sizes were decent for the price, and the flavors were good--just a bit spicier than expected for "mild."

We ordered the combination vermicelli, summer rolls, grass jelly drink, and milk soda and egg drink which were all good. The only dish that was a let down today was the special beef combination rice noodle soup... which is my regular there... they forgot the egg which was a crucial part of making the soup even more delicious than it normally is. i so asked the water to which he quickly brought out. Then being the fussy noodle eater i am, i originally asked for half half egg noodles and rice noodles which he forgot too and only put egg noodles. I ask him again and he also apologized and quickly brought it back out... AND also they forgot to put beef tripe in..... but i didn't bother asking them for that as i already pointed out too many faults... Today i took a star from them because they weren't at the top of their game... Don't get me wrong, the food was all very good and tasty (even though some elements were missing, it was still hella tasty)... just the service was lacking... he didn't seem to really care that that one order was ALL wrong (i think he just wanted to go home and relax lol) also whenever we walk out of here, we smell very strong of Vietnamese herbs from the Pho (noodle soup) hahaha Pho Purfume, anyone?

Their most popular noodle is served with beef offals ( that's beef tripe, liver, stomach etc etc lol..) And Hong Kong people love it!! There also aren't many in Auckland that does it as soft and tasty as Kingston. Their next favourite (for those that can't handle offal) is satay beef noodle soup. Tbh I don't know how it's satay and don't mind because it's super tender, juicy and full of delicious flavour. Their soup base was something I couldn't get enough of but now it's just full of msg and makes me extremely thirsty after, however I still can't stop drinking it haha. I love it when it's mixed with the sauce from the braised beef topping!!! Makes it's even more tasty and flavourful and addictive. I always ask for thick rice noodles (round not flat. Sometimes called thick vermicelli?) instead of the usual thin egg noodles. You can also ask for sauce noodles instead of noodle soup where the noodles are slathered in the topping you picked, you then mix it all together with the hoisen sauce they give you (add some soup to help the mixing process). Ask to add extras like a fried egg, dumplings, wontons, fried fish balls, beef balls, luncheon, vegetable lol anything on their menu can pretty much be added in as an extra. Also they have a variety of noodles to choose from: thin egg noodles, thick egg noodles, thin vermicelli (rice noodles), thick vermicelli (rice noodles), hor fun (flat rice noodles about 1cm wide), yang chun mian (kind of like soft hand made noodles) and of course curly instand noodles haha (I'm sure there's more but we have tried yet) For drinks, their most popular drink is called Ying yang milk tea which is a mixture of milktea and coffee.. I know it sounds weird but it quite nice! If not go for the lemon iced tea or crushed red bean milk drink. So many choices and not too expensive!! Each bowl is usually around $10 unless u get the beef offal which is $13.50. P.s. You MUSSSST try the Hong Kong style french toast. It's totally different to what u would except and so much nicer. It's filled with peanut butter and then deep fried and then slathered in golden syrup..if that helps with the decision making...

Very decent HK style noodle and food stall. So worth the money, CASH only here. Good service.read more

Having just come back from Chengdu and the flavours of their particular cuisine still " fresh " in my taste buds it was too much to walk past this place. Had to go in and try it out and see how it rates against the " real thing ". And we were not disappointed. Though a small place it felt welcoming as were the staff, and they have done the interior decor quite nicely too. Service was really good with the orders once taken , the food would come out quite quickly. We ended up ordering the steamed beef, of which I could have ate a lot more so delicious it was. Then came the steamed pork ribs which although small were as tasty as the last dish. The bigger dish of Loongs Special Beef Noodles ( I believe a " limited " edition so to speak? ) came next. Noodles and meatballs and other ingredients combined to make it yet another delicious dish. These guys were sure on their " A " game regarding everything thus far. We also ordered the steamed egg with pork mince. Enough said about the other dishes thus far....well this was well and truly on a par with them. Well I think I've said enough . I can totally recommend here . The service is great, as is the food and it is a nice atmosphere to sit in. Oh, and almost forgot to say that the price is not too bad either. Try it out!!!

Cantonese Chinese noodle restaurant. TOTALLY LEGIT. They have a big menu of noodle soups and (my…read morefavourite) mix noodles but if you're not into noodles they have rice dishes, soups, sides, pancakes too. Another cheap eat in Auckland (YAAAAAY!!! i need these places, such a good break on my wallet) usually it's around $10 per person if you share side dishes and get a bowl of noodles each. Today we ordered: Beef Offal Noodle Soup Soft tender beef offal in a not too heavy beef soup (meaning not TOOOO much MSG, in Chinese restaurants you can't avoid it...really...), chewy pillowly noodles and some actualy vegetables!!! To be honest, i prefer Beef Offal Noodle Soup at other places but my workmate think this one taste more genuine rather than covered in MSG and processed too much? i still like it if i add vinegar and chili sauce and still totally worth the money Pork Ribs Mix Noodles I didn't try this one but my workmates said the spareribs were so tender and tasty and cooked to perfection. The noodles were a tad bland on its own but if eaten with the spareribs then it's perfect. Soup on the side was bland "like peppery water and spring onions" Tomato Beef Mix Noodles This really reminds me of Guangzhou as i always order this in restaurants for a quick meals. Nearly ALL small restaurants have this in rice version in Guangzhou. It is simply a "wet" stirfry of sweet tomatoes, juicy tender beef pieces, and scrambled eggs all served on top of tender soft noodles. The sauce is like a gravy texture and is oh so good however my workmates think otherwise and said its like a Chinese Spaghetti Bolognese haha so true. Maybe im a bit biased on this dish. Bean Curd Salad Best dish of today. Bean curd is the thin layer of "skin" you get when the soy milk is settling. Its a firm yet soft-ish texture as the "skin" is layered on top of each other (if that even makes sense). The sauce is a vinegar, sesame oil "fresh" sort of taste with sprinklings of fresh cucumber and carrots. Definitely a must!! Seaweed Salad One of our favourites! Its similar to the Japanese version but flavour is not that heavy on the MSG. More of a garlicy, vinegar, (some MSG), sesame oil dressing? We always order this at Chinese Restaurants if we have the chance. Other things i recommend you ordering: Chives pancake! very tasty yet crispy; Cold noodles in a chili sesame sauce... its the last one on the first page and its soooooo nice and cheap!!!; Sweet and sour soup is also very very nice here with confirmation from a few of my friends haha The service is good and attentive (i dropped my chopsticks by accident and wasn't even fast enough to beat the waitress, she came and picked it up and got me a clean pair too... and i was sitting right next to the condiments/cutlery .... so nice!). English could be a little bit better but they will understand you enough to feed you, if not... its a good way to practice your Mandarin/Cantonese!!

Never knew this, but quite a lot of restaurants (and stores) close early--before 8:30-9pm. Thankfully, King Made Noodle closes at 10pm on weekdays! So walking around Auckland evening into nighttime was quiet, but Fort Street, where King Made Noodles is located, had a few places open to eat. This really looked liked a fun place to eat, and it was! Really enjoyed the woodsy decor! The main thing, of course, is the hand made soup noodles where you can select the size of noodle you want. All the noodles are hand pulled to order. You can see the noodle master make it right next to the bar. There are also lamb skewers, dumplings, roujiamo (Chinese burger), and an array of small cold dishes such as wheat gluten, bean curd strips, wood ear mushrooms, lotus root, and etc. (very similar to China). Started with two appetizers: marinated bean curd strips, and seaweed salad. The Bean Curd Strips was simple, tasty, and tender. The Seaweed salad was very good. Tender, spicy, garlicky, and flavorful. Lamb Skewers were good. Nice, meaty pieces of tender lamb with the slightest gaminess. Nicely spiced, good char, but needed a touch more salt. Chinese Lamb Burger was good. The meat inside was basically the same as the lamb skewers, but the lamb in here was more dry and tough. It got hard to eat after a while. Lastly, the Traditional Beef Noodle Soup was good as well. The broth was decent--beefy, clean, and homey. The noodle was really good. You can definitely taste it's freshly made as it's light and springy. The beef itself was all right. Thin, lean, and tender. Similar to the beef slices in Pho. But overall seemed toned down. Overall, a nice place to grab food. I'm always happy to have fresh, hand-pulled noodles with authentic flavors with other authentic dishes. Service was good. You order at the front, and then find a place to sit. Everything is mostly self-service. Choose your beer from the fridge, get your utensils near the kitchen, grab your water from the dispenser near the front door. Food came out quick and hot.

Honestly, for this kind of noodle place, always try the basic and best one. Tonkotsu is not a bad choice. Nice soup, slow cooked pork slice, bamboo shoots and fresh spinach for a taste bonus. What's more, you can choose fried dumplings, they call Gyoza and some pork stew for small bites. They are both quite authentic.
