I found out about Jemistry Hair Studio on Facebook when I was looking for recommendations for a…read morehair stylist who could do weave sew ins. After looking at Jemistry's Instagram page and seeing her flawless work, I decided to book an appointment with her. Despite her busy schedule, Jemistry was able to squeeze me in for an appointment. My original bundles and lace closure, which I provided, did not have the same color. Thus, Jemistry accommodated me and did a color correction on my bundles so that the color would match the color of my lace closure. And these are my results of the lace closure Install! I love how my hair looks and feels, and I'm really amazed at the results. For expert coloring, last minute appointment accommodations and amazing work, book Jemistry hair studio! She will not disappoint. P.S. I also appreciate the refreshments that were offered to me during my appointment. Can't get my hair done without a good ol' snack to chomp on :-).

THE WORST SALON EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE WITH DANA! This was my first time going to this…read moresalon and there were so many red flags I ignored. First red flag was her scheduling a video consultation yet never calling and claims she forgot about it yet she set the date and time. Next the 100 dollar deposit which I tried to just role with even though to me that's very steep. Next I come on time for my appointment and there no receptionist. I text to let her know I'm here and she comes out and says I think your my client. Like what? Wouldn't most professionals say ex Ashley? Idk small indicators was pointing towards the unprofessionalism ahead of time. I promise I came in at 11 am and was nearly having my hair bleached until a good 1 to 2 o'clock before any other work started which was highly questionable to me but could be standard but was unheard method to me but I tried to trust the "professional". And next berating me and raising her voice at me like I was her child because I didn't like her work so far after asking if my hair color would stay as bright while she was adding the color on and could easily just make the changes. Her disgusting attitude persist after I just try to ask can she wash it out and she tells me no without explanation rudely while sipping on a drink. I go to the bathroom to wash the dripping color that she failed to wipe off the cape and then came back to yell some more about getting under a dryer like I'm a kid and washing my hands for 30 seconds due to her sloppy work would ruin things. I came in for midnight blue hair and this lady gives a dark skin woman blue blue hair. It was so unflattering but it didn't matter to her to put her name on what the customer felt unflattering because it's about the money for her. Even another customer in the shop looks over who was unaware and asked is that royal blue? Exactly royal blue and midnight blue two different colors. A good stylist would reassure you through the process and work with you but she fanned the flame by saying well that's what you asked for don't blame me! Yelling, you over her giving me all this attitude! Mind you I said nothing nothing prior to her tangent but surely my face did because its my hair! Been natural for years and its not what I asked for. When I did nothing but ask a simple question. She was very rough with my natural hair the entire time roughly raking the comb from the top to bottom. Any African American knows with black hair to detangle you start from the bottom middle and THEN top to detangle with a comb. She was so very obnoxious. Very disrespectful. Tried to do something nice for myself and just role with it and trust a "professional" and ended up with the experience from Hell. By 3 pm which the blow drying process would have just started after being there for the longest I just opted out, I had enough of the disrespect and just wanted to pay her for services so far and just be on my way. In which at first she tried it and to say I would still have to pay her for all services and my response is yeah only for what you've already done. Then there was comments about me messing up the screen because it close out during payment on my way out even doing that. I swear to God I was boiling. Thank God my sister was able to help me after leaving the shop with my hair and color to level things out. This is the exact reason people are leery of supporting black businesses because that representation right there. I love my people but I'm so tired of encountering this same archetype hairstylist everywhere! Very disappointing experience.

I haven't been to a salon in about a year to get any type of service done, so you can imagine my…read morehesitation when I first stepped foot into Crown Royal Hair Salon. I generally wear weaves, but wanted to switch to a more protective style. Since my stylist, doesn't do braids I looked up a few styles and decided that I wanted someone to give me Marley twists. On a relatively late, Thursday night I found myself outside of Crown Royal Hair Salon. I had already been disappointed once, because after booking an appointment elsewhere I was canceled on very unprofessionally. I walked in to Crown Royal, and was greeted warmly by a stylist working out of a private room. She informed me that they had a braider on site, but she was unable to do the style I wanted. However, she gave me the card of a woman that was able to do Marley twists. I was deflated, because I figured since the stylist was off, she wouldn't want to come into the salon to take a walk-in client...but I was wrong! I called the number I was given, and was consoled by a very sweet woman named, Awa - who agreed to come to the salon to do my hair. I was surprised, given how late it was but glad I would be getting my hair done after all! The salon has a great set up, I appreciated the fact that every stylist has a private suite with a television, sink and styling station. It made the experience very special for me. I got to get my hair done, and watch my favorite television show too! Awa is amazing, I have relaxed hair and was concerned the style I wanted wouldn't support the weight of the braiding hair but she did a wonderful job. Very neat, quick work, she's also very meticulous about detail (she trimmed all the small hairs off of all of my braids!) and doesn't cut corners. I'm not sure if it is a salon wide deal, but I was offered $20 off for my first service as a new client with Awa. Definitely a great perk if you ask me. There's a barber shop next door, so you and your boo can get your hair done at the same time. There is also a beauty supply a few steps away, so if you need to run and buy something for your hair appointment you're well within reach. Hungry? Chick Fil-A is right across the street! LOL! Not bad!

Soooooooo It is very important to do your research and make sure you know of the stylists work…read morebefore they do your hair. Lesson Learned for me. So this past saturday I went in looking to get a quick weave, I've never got it before. However, I've seen it on others and it looks nice. So when I walked in I looked for someone since it was my first time there, and the lady in the first booth as soon as you walk in asked could she help me, so I replied yes, I was looking to get a quick weave and she said she could do it and it would be "100" dollars. I said okay fine and I was ready to get started. As I sat in her chair and she was going through my natural hair she said, "you have a lot of hair and your hair is long." well my hair isn't that long to me it touches my collarbone or a bit shorter. Anyways, so she said that and I said well would it be a problem? she replied no. Mind you I know many girls with longer hair who get a quick weave. So I got my hair washed and she took my leave out and put gel and some sort of lotion I believe and got under the dryer, oh my hair wasn't put in a ponytail or anything the hair in the back was tucked under like a one braid type of thing. Anyway, I get in the dryer gt back out she puts a hardener on it then after that she glued the tracks. End result my hair Looked Great! from the front because my leave out always blends well with any hair. So fast forward to the next day, a track came out at the bottom so as i felt my hair, I noticed that my hair was out, like basically a fro, with nothing securing it. I was like wtf but I was like hey maybe i can fix it. But when I get to work I asked my co-worker hey can you take a pic of my hair, some reason it feels weird and I cant see. THe face she made was like a shocker she was like Kris, what in the hell? and it wasn't until I looked at the pic I was so embarrassed. So i quickly text the stylist " Sharon" and told her what happen, she said I can fix it.. but at this point I felt so stupid and embarrassed because this shouldn't happen only after two days. I told her I do not feel comfortable with her doing my hair again due to this experience, and I don't trust her. So she was saying things like I'm being dramatic but how am I being dramatic when I just got my hair done and it looks terrible, I didn't even go on my outing with friends. So anyways she finally says I will refund your money no problem. I went to a professional stylist and she was so upset she said "Oh hell no get your money back." she also said I got played because the lady didn't even put a cap on my head, and if she knew my hair was thick and long it was supposed to be cornrowed down. I asked three other girls that do hair, and they were shocked as well to know I didn't have a cap nor was my hair in ponytail or secured. so basically I got played!!1 So after work I call her to meet up, and she then tells me I'm only refunding you 80.00 dollars, mind you I paid her 100 dollars plus a 20 dollar tip! yeah a tip. So i said well can I atleast get 100 back i did tip you, she said its for the shampoo cost, but um isn't that protocol, but I said okay so the tip should cover that, but she said no "like she said she will pay me 80.00. and that i said i liked my hair when I left, ofcourse I did it looked good from the outside. when I met her she had the money in her hand, I said okay do you wanna see my hair, I turned around and showed her and she said "okay nonchalantly" I thought she would say I'm so sorry this happened, this isn't my best work or something but she didn't care. not only did I lose 40 dollars but I also lost money for the hair I purchased so total I lost on 90.00 additional dollars. To conclude, this post is not to bash the salon itself, but the professionalism of the stylist, I felt advantage was taken because I am naive and too nice, so its my fault, but you don't do people like that. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
