Although, she teaches at other adult education locations in the south bay, she is relatively new to the Sunnyvale center. The Beginning and Intermediate Digital Photography courses are very affordable (especially for seniors) and the duration is about 4 weeks each. Noella is a very knowledgeable and patient instructor. The students came to the class with a variety of digital cameras from point and shoot to the most demanding of DSLR cameras; yet, Noella helped each of her students master and learn to operate their camera. Even more importantly, she taught us how to feel comfortable shooting pictures using the advanced setting modes on our camera. (Why spend all that money on a digital camera, and not get the most from it?) Also, while we were learning about our camera, we began to understand photography principles, camera tools/accessories and basic post production photo editing. This place is uncaring and a money grab. They crushed my dreams because I had a medical issue. Funny this is the career we all joined the medical field to take care of people who are having medical issues. These people are not nice and uncaring.

Five years in and my daughter still can't wait for art class…read moreMy daughter is 10 and has been taking classes at the Art School of SF Bay's San Jose studio for five years. She started young, and it's been wonderful to watch her grow as an artist. The program gives kids a real foundation. Over the years she's worked with watercolor, acrylic, soft pastel, sculpture, and all kinds of unexpected materials, so she isn't stuck in one medium and learns to experiment. In summer camps she's also tried manga, digital art, and comics, which she loves. The teachers are what make this place special. She adores all of them. Ms. Svetlana, Ms. Maria, Mr. Andrew, Ms. Sara, and Ms. Anna are just a few, and I wish I could name everyone. They're patient and encouraging, and they push the kids in a way that builds confidence. Her progress has been strong enough that she's now moving up to a class with older students. During summer camp, she completed paintings entirely on her own in a short period of time. Seeing what she could do independently, start to finish, made me so proud, and it showed how much she'd absorbed over the years. I started my journey back to art school when I was seventy years old, as this was my biggest regret…read morein life - I didn't go to art school. I was a successful artist in my twenties, but life took over, and my art came to a screeching halt. I raised a family, had a busy life and a few careers, retired, and found myself living in San Jose. I thought I would take an art class to fill the time. This is how I wound up at the Art School of SF Bay. The first classes I took were watercolor and portraits, which I enjoyed, though I struggled to walk through the front door. I had no confidence; I was my own worst critic; I had a fear of making bad art; and when I looked around, everyone was so talented, most of them young enough to be my grandchild. My life changed when I found myself in Andrew Kim's Inking class. His upbeat, positive attitude gave every student a can-do attitude, including me, which helped me to relax. Andrew knew everything about art, from perspective and portraits to charcoal, ink, digital, manga, and more. Andrew is a doer of all art. He can do anything. His teaching style creates an atmosphere of learning; he will teach you how to do it; he will not do it for you. He made art fun. He reminds me of my son, who is a conductor. My son can hear a flat note in a room full of top-notch musicians. Just like Andrew, with his eagle eye, he will help you improve whatever project you are working on just by looking at it. Andrew promotes and encourages his students to be a community. He created a Discourse where everyone can interact with fellow students, get advice, build friendships outside of class, meet up for sketching and socializing, just be artists, and share their ideas and dreams. Having a support system is crucial. He also makes it easy to schedule make-ups and is a great communicator. Andrew makes sure everyone's artistic needs are met because he cares about his students. I continued with Inking and also added Open Studio, where I could work on my own projects. That is when my life changed. I began sketching dog portraits, posted them on my social media, and before I knew it, I had three commissions. It was absolutely shocking! I accepted the commissions, and ever since then, I have been off and running. I owe and credit all my success to Andrew and Art School of SF Bay. This would never have happened without him at my side. When people ask me what I do, I proudly say, "I am a commissioned pet portrait artist." I'm very proud of this accomplishment, something I would never dream of happening. Don't hesitate to contact Art School of SF Bay if you are interested in art. With that in mind, I was presented two options for industry-leading knowledge providers...and I chose Product School. Why? Because from the moment I engaged with the PS team, I was presented with timely, accurate, and relevant information pertaining my anticipated role and how they could assist me in being better prepared. At no point did anyone there "guarantee" me anything - which was much appreciated on my part. The financial admissions process was straightforward through a third-party lender and I was admitted into the upcoming course within a few days. A flurry of emails went out within a few minutes of acceptance and on-boarding was completed digitally in minutes. Now to the important stuff - how was the actual course? In short, it was excellent and far exceeded my expectations. I was fortunate to be surrounded by incredibly capable and engaged fellow learners and led by Rocky Sharma as an instructor. Since we moved to Long Island, New York a few years ago, we had been looking for a tutor like Ann for our younger daughter. But we couldn't find any good teacher like Ann. We contacted Ann after long search and fortunately she offered tutoring over Skype. We were so pleased with the outcome we got with our older daughter, we didn't hesitate to enlist her help with our younger daughter.  Our younger daughter, 10th grader has been learning over Skype for 10 months. She learns to read more complex texts and expands her vocabulary. We have noticed significant improvements in mindset for approaching and organizing essays. She is steadily improving and can carry herself with more confidence and excels her writing skills and reading comprehension not only in English also in other classes such as history, marketing, research and writing science lab reports.  We are impressed by Ann's teaching method. She reviews and tests new vocabularies, practice critical reading, edit homework essay and check grammar sheets within one hour tutoring session. Also she is very kind and supportive, which makes learnings from her more enjoyable and effective. Her teaching method is superb and well organized. I went to De Anza from 2014-2019. After getting academically disqualified from SJSU and not being…read moreable to reenroll in classes I needed to retake, I thought going to De Anza would be my best option to pick myself up, and it was. The professors were super nice and wanted you to pass your classes. Coming in, I thought De Anza would be super easy and I wouldn't have to put in any effort; I was somewhat right and wrong. Some of the classes were easy and fun; with only 20-30 students in a class, the classes were more intimate than bigger CSU or UC classes. Some of the classes were legitimately difficult, but they were passable if you really put your mind to it. The food in the cafeteria and cafe were affordable and delicious. I loved the sandwiches, coffee, and instant ramen. Parking is bad in the morning-afternoon, but empties out around late afternoon. Traffic on 85 is bad around 3pm though so I personally liked going to evening classes. Wish I put my mind into my studies a little more back then but hey I have a bachelors degree now and am in grad school. De Anza's classes and professors were there for me when I had nobody to help me. I'll always appreciate my time there!

The 1 hour program was good, but I felt the introduction video, with "Luna the moth", wasn't age appropriate for our kids. It felt too babyish and they weren't interested in that part. The rest of the program was great, and it kept their attention throughout the rest of the program. I think also more interactive content would be helpful, instead of the kids staring up at a screen for 1 hour. Also not being able to record our field trip inside was a bummer, so we don't have any evidence of what we saw. I understand their policies, but it would be nice to have some pictures and video of what they saw during the show. The person hosting too, was pretty dry lol. Her voice was very monotone and her jokes were a lot of 80's references, which was way over their heads, because they're only 7 years old, lol.
