Deanna, the owner of this B&B was a delight to deal with from the moment we first contacted her. My folks live out of the country, so they spoke with her and worked out the details and then arranged to have me go by the place and scope it out. We were planning on having 3 couples stay in the house, so we had a few criteria in mind - I wanted it to be cozy, comfortable and homey, with ample bathroom space and decent kitchen to cook our holiday bird in. We also wanted this to place to function as a meeting place for us to come and go from, for visiting and just general holiday cheer. The rooms are true to the website and come off every bit as cozy and full of character as they look there. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and look like the perfect escape from holiday visiting (we all need that!). Really, they look like great spaces for curling up with a book and a warm cup of tea.The place is rustic and homey - just right for my families tastes! If you are looking for a chic, modern place to stay you won't find it here. But what you will find is a sweet character home with down home undertones. The kitchen is great too, and has a gas stove which I love. I must mention: the kitchen table is so cute! It's a craft piece with table legs made out of tree trunks - think blond, knotty wood - I don't really know how to describe it but it works so well in this house. The house has two bathrooms, one upstairs and one down, both with showers. The living room is on the smaller side, an doesn't have a ton of seating but it's cozy. And...there is a piano! They had the living room done up with a holiday tree and the exterior had Christmas lights up - so perfect for our family holiday! The ladies here really got me excited about my family settling in here, and I really felt comfortable as soon as I walked in. I think this is going to be the perfect place for my family to stay over the holidays, I know they will be cozy and relaxed. Located in the heart of Kensi, a hop and a skip from the Kensi pub, a plethora of lovely coffee haunts and resto's, this place is a gem.

This time was for 2 weeks with my family in for a weekend. It's a fine balance between giving you "alone time" privacy and interaction with "colorful" locals. They nail it. I adore them and their home. Don't expect typical. Expect delish breakfasts, cozy room, toasty bed, laid-back hosts, eclectic/intriguing guests, hearty laughter, creaky floors, hodge-podge furniture, and a backyard deck of wonders. Kensington (which is awesome!) is at your doorstep and downtown is a short trip (train or foot -- I walk, even in winter!). I've stayed at the Sheraton Eau Claire (once) and the Ramada (once). The king sized bed and fluffy pillows were so comfortable, we didn't want to get up, but...breakfast was waiting! Breakfast was lovely - cinnamon silver dollar pancakes with fresh fruit, whipped cream, and real maple syrup. There was also a fresh pot of hot tea and glasses of orange juice. Delicious! The house is in a quieter part of Calgary - in Ramsay - and overlooks the stampede grounds and Saddle Dome. We were in town to see a concert at the BMO Centre on the stampede grounds and were able to walk there in under ten minutes. Micheline is a wonderful hostess, and makes everyone feel welcome. With rates better than any hotel in the city (and with an amazing breakfast to boot!) this is definitely a wonderful home away from home experience! I would definitely recommend the Calgary City View B&B to anyone.

They even had fun lights under the bed for ambiance, which gave us a good laugh! The shower was amazing with pretty tiles, and a great rain showerhead running the length of the wall. Their shuttle picks up all day long and was a very comfortable ride from the Calgary airport to the hotel. Driver was very kind and helpful and it was very convenient for our party of 6. We were allowed to leave our luggage at the hotel which was a very nice benefit and took their shuttle back to the airport where we took a bus from the airport into downtown. Rooms were very clean and spacious. The fitness center here is clean and well maintained. It is certainly possible to get a full body workout here. There are two hot tubs here which is nice but please note they are open only for limited hours. The beds are comfortable and the restaurant here is great as well which is where you can have a delicious complimentary breakfast. Everything about this hotel was greatand we are planning to return and stay here for our final night in Canada during our trip to Banff. 5 stars easily and a thank you to all staff. Two thumbs up!

VERY GOOD HOTEL IN DOWNTOWN CALGARY…read more We recently stayed at Le Germaine Hotel Calgary, a modern hotel in downtown Calgary located across the street from the Calgary Tower and steps away from Stephen Ave Walk and the +15 Skywalk. The 2 Queen room was very spacious - a large modern bathroom, a large walk in closet area (safe and lots of storage) and a large nook that connected our room to a neighboring room. The modern polished wood and glass décor included a tall Noguchi-styled floor lamp and velvet covered chairs and ottomans. Coffee pot, hot water pot, high end glassware and well stocked wet bar. The large bathroom had wall storage, a large walk-in shower with a huge rain shower head and a large teardrop shaped sink that reminded us of an infant bath basin. Daily housekeeping. One big negative - our 12th floor room faced directly into the offices across a narrow space between the office building and the hotel forcing us to keep our wooden blinds closed for privacy. No blackout curtains with window blinds that let in the morning sun. Plus despite being on the 12th floor, we heard early morning police and ambulance sirens but did not hear any train noise from the nearby 7th Ave tracks (some reviewers complained of loud nearby trains). When making reservations, ask for a room on a high floor that is not facing the office building or the train tracks. It might also be fun to have a room facing the Calgary Tower across the street. The hotel has a small lobby area with a bar as well as an attached restaurant.

The building also includes a nice gym, laundry room with a good number of washers and dryers, and even a first-come first-serve "office" room on the first floor which we ended up using for when we needed to take calls. Breakfast was included in the room rate and we really appreciated the quality and the options of what was available (from standard continental breakfast fare to waffle machines, eggs/bacon/sausage/tater totes, to oatmeal and congee). Coffee was not our favorite but the good news is there are plenty of wonderful cafe options outside the hotel. The hotel has both valet parking and self-parking options available. The self-parking option that is affiliated with the hotel is outdoor parking that is located a little distance away from the property. There is a second self-parking option (Indigo Neo) that is underground and part of the property but is not at all affiliated with the hotels. We chose the Indigo Neo option for convenience. Payment was license-plate based and managed online--the hotel staff were really great about emphasizing the need to remember to pay for the parking as Indigo Neo team are strict about ticketing those who don't pay. Service was 5+ stars. All of the team members from the front desk to the chef team and wait staff to the valet were all very kind, courteous and accommodating. The team was extremely proactive when they noticed that our in-room phone line had static and within minutes, maintenance was at our door. And when our trip had to be extended by one extra day due to an unexpected situation, the front desk team (Mercedes) was so patient and helpful in helping us navigate the situation and resolve it. At breakfast, I even heard the head chef agreeing to help a student sports team get breakfast and make it to their game on time by coming in earlier than usual. Amazing kindness by the whole team! Location is great with plenty of places to eat (pro-tip: Noble Pie is a block away and a must-try pizza spot) and shops that are walking distance away. Some blocks are rougher than others but nothing unexpected for a city. Great place for work or play. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Calgary!

The breakfast itself was pretty good, the eggs, and protein changes slightly each morning - but the highlight of the breakfasts is the mixed berry waffles, so good! - if you get stuck with figuring out how to make them, the team is more then happy to assist. The gym facility has a nice view of the city - wasn't able to get a night time shot, as the reflection of the windows made it into selfies lol. The gym itself had all the basics - There is 24/7 coffee and hot chocolate available - however, at times - the coffee didn't seem like it held temperature very well, and it was luke warm at best, which was a little disappointing. Room was clean - plenty of towels available - and bed was relatively comfortable - however there wasn't any slippers available which my mom wasn't pleased about, for me it wasn't a big deal lol - however on the last day leaving - she said she saw a worker with a handful of slippers in the elevator, so she wasn't very pleased they weren't available for her - also note no tooth paste here, so bring your own! We arrived late and noticed the eggs and fruit were nearly gone, so we asked if more was available. The response: "Sure, just give us a minute." A few minutes later everything was refreshed. Frankly, I had moved away from the brand because I felt it had become overpriced for what it offered. Nicely done, Hampton Inn - we'll be back!
