When I first considered the possibility of owning my own home, I looked for podcasts to educate myself about real estate. I found Shane's podcast, and enjoyed how he made the concepts easy to understand. I visited several cities in my search for a new place to call home, and one day while driving in Austin and listening to Shane's podcast, I heard him mention that he was based in Austin. On a whim I called him and he answered. Within 10 minutes of our conversation, he had agreed to meet me at a local Starbucks, where he later helped me define what I was looking for, and what was possible given my price range. All told, this probably took a couple hours of his time, and it cost me nothing. During my search and eventual purchase of a home, Shane made himself available via phone, e-mail, and text. When I was in another state, Shane used his iPhone to provide me with a virtual tour of a potential property. The digital system he used for paperwork was easy to navigate, and it made the remote purchase of a property easy. I don't know how common it is for a realtor to do this, but he had the seller purchase a year's worth of coverage for all appliances in my new home. A nice bonus! read more
