I moved to Austin 4 years ago for work and have always lived in apartments, not knowing if I was really here to stay. When I finally decided this was the place for me and to bite the bullet and buy a house, I had NO idea where to begin! How do you find a good real estate agent? How do you know they will work hard to find what you want, are ethical, and trustworthy? Who will work around my busy schedule? Who will know how to find what I want in a home? I tried working with an agent suggested by a friend, but he was tough to communicate with because he was so busy, taking on as many clients as possible. Let me tell you, it was a breath of fresh air when I found Amanda! I randomly stumbled upon Amanda at an open house that I happened to drive by and decided to check out. After speaking with her for a few minutes and after she kindly made sure I was not already signed on to work exclusively with another agent, I decided to give it a whirl. After she sent me the MLS for the houses that fit what I was looking for, we went out to check out some of the ones I liked the best. Our first drive together was one that I will never forget, especially after my negative experience of just trying to work with one of the supposed "best realtors" in the area. I remember asking Amanda, "How many clients do you typically work with at one time?" and expecting the answer to go along the lines of "as many as will work with me!" After all, that's how agents make their money, right? Her response astounded me. "I only work with a maximum of 5 active clients at a time, meaning 5 clients who are actively looking for a house. Once they go into closing that means they are no longer active." She went on to elaborate that this way she was able to give individualized attention to each client she has, and to make sure to find exactly what they were looking for. WOW! Another time Amanda stood out as different among agents was after I had looked at a house that was larger than I was originally looking for, but in the geographic location I wanted and under my budget. I decided to put an offer in, not 100% sure it was the right move, but knowing that resale value would be great and after all, it was a big house BELOW budget! The next morning, I woke up with a pit in my stomach, realizing I was not happy with my decision. Before I even had the opportunity to share my feelings with Amanda, she called me and said "I have been up all night thinking about you. Are you sure you want to put an offer in on this house? We can still pull it if you want, since they haven't responded yet." Are you kidding me?! Most agents would be counting the dollars that were about to go in their pocket now that the job was "done" and not give two hoots about how I felt! I could go on and on with ways Amanda earned my trust and helped me find the right house, which I did, less than a month after I started working with her. Even after finding my home, Amanda was a pleasure to work with and made the process from start to closing seamless and as effortless as possible.
