One of my friends recommended Shanda and gave me her number. I spoke to her on the phone and explained what I wanted. I said no razor, I want a scissor cut on curly dry hair, and I'm trying to grow my hair out so I don't want any length taken off. I also said I really only need my front blended, because there's weird pieces hanging down and it's at a disconnect from the rest of my hair. I asked if this was something that she could work with, and she said yes.
I had high hopes of a stylist who would listen to me and get a haircut for $15 rather than $150 which is the standard price for Deva cuts in my area. I should've forked out the $150 right off the bat.
I got there and explained again what I wanted. I specifically told her all I wanted cut was the pieces of front, and I wanted them blended with the rest of my hair. I had a picture as an example and said, I don't necessarily want this cut, but this is how I want my front to look in general. She then started talking about how heavy my hair looked, and before I knew it I heard chop chop chop chop in the BACK of my hair and looked up and was absolutely horrified to see thinning shears! My heart sank. Not only did she not listen to me when I said the FRONT pieces needed cut, she started thinning without my permission, and without telling me what she was doing or when she was starting. At this point I just let her finish, because I wasn't going to walk out with half the back of my hair missing. After she was done, she sprayed brownish orange water in my hair, which I thought was absolutely disgusting.
I am so angry, because I had just gotten my hair to a healthy state using the CG method, and now my ends are completely frayed and I've lost my uniform curl. Now it sticks straight out and up in the absolute worst places, and it is thinned out extremely uneven! There are places that have no hair on one side, and on the other it's longer.
I am now going to pay the extra money to get it fixed, since it seems a lot worth it with stylists like this out there. It feels like she lied to me just to get me in her chair. I went home and cried, and I totally regret ever going there. If you have curly hair, stay far far away!!! read more
