I had never been to an acupuncturist before. With constant back and neck pain Shan Dao changed everything. Professional and knowledgeable.

I was skeptical also about acupuncture until the main reason I started going was I had Restless Leg Syndrome quite severe and I was told from my doctor there was no cure and gave me medicine to help stop it for a few hours at a time. After making an appointment with Dr. Nikki she had me healed in less than 3 months. I have continued seeing her over the past 12 years for many different issues and making sure that my organs are functioning properly. She had treated me for back pain, hip pain, 2 stacked discs, arthritis, injuries, and more of which all of the treatments have done wonders for me, I have also got to remember that it can take a number of treatments for my body to heal, meaning I can't expect to go in for just 1 or 2 treatments sometime. I always do as many treatments that she feels necessary, other wise I am wasting my time and money. I look at it this way, acupuncture can get to the ROOT of my problems instead of a doctor giving me a PILL to help for a short period of time. I have seen Dr. Nikki nearly every month for over 12 years, and and highly recommend her clinic and and wonderful staff. And I will add, she has now added more doctors and I can tell you She will not have anyone working for her that does not meet her high standards and treatment and care. I highly recommend Advanced Acupuncture clinic, I would give them 10 stars if they were there, not just 5 STARS Pennie Peterson

Literally googled Chinese medicine close to me. If you are looking for all the frills of a modern medical office this isn't your place. But if you look beyond the simple space and trust his practice I find him to be extraordinary. Dr Mao is incredibly intuitive, asks all the right questions and most important to me, he spends all the time that is needed to test and answer any questions I might have. Unfortunately, I have become one of the countless women injured by surgically implanted…read moretransvaginal mesh. I have a permanently injured pelvic nerve which causes severe pain 24/7. This could be a very sad story except that I have been blessed to find the best medical practitioners to help me maintain a pain level that I can live with. Jason Moskovitz, at New Harmony Health, provides one of the most important ongoing treatments for my pain. Mesh patients are an enigma and the medical community has no idea what to do with us. Jason is well versed in pain treatment through acupuncture, but there is no available protocol for treating nerve damage from transvaginal mesh. However, Jason kept working with me to find placements of needles that have helped me enormously. I have been seeing him at least every other week for almost 2 years and along with my ongoing physical therapy and medication, his treatment is an essential piece of keeping my pain at bay so that I can have the best life possible as a chronic pain patient. Acupuncture helps me to enjoy an active physical life which was impossible when I first sustained the injury. Besides his amazing skill as an acupuncturist, Jason is also a very kind and compassionate person who always lifts up my spirits. If I can get this much help from Jason with a serious nerve injury that the medical community can barely deal with, I can only imagine what he can do for people with "normal" pain!

Dr. Chiu is an absolute treasure, and I hope my review will provide you the comfort and motivation…read moreyou need to make an appointment with him. I have previously experienced the benefits of acupuncture (about 3-4 years ago). If you're new -- it really is a powerful tool in naturally healing your body from trauma (physical and mental/emotional). I am so glad I researched and found Dr. Chiu because he is the best acupuncturist out there. There are not many folks I revere, but Dr. Chiu is one of them. He is highly intelligent in both eastern and western cultural medicine. He knew what I was talking about when I mentioned the book (The Body Keeps the Score) because he's read it also. He is trauma informed, research based, and most importantly compassionate in learning about your experiences; and resolving the root of the problems you are experiencing. If you are at a dead end with your mental health/gut issues or any other physical ailments then please seek out Dr. Chiu--this man is so kind, gentle and skilled in his expertise. I am so happy to have him onboard my transformative experience in healing my body. I appreciate all the care and thoughtfulness he puts into his appointments with me; and hope others can experience the luxury of relaxation as well.

I'd like to start out with, their services are perfectly fine. I keep my last review in regards to…read morethat. The downgrade is based solely on billing. They have improper billing practices. - sent NO INVOICE before charging two $115 transaction on our credit card. - only notified us one day before, still with NO INVOICE. Just an email saying they'll do it. - refused to work with my insurance even though i'm fully cover and was covered under other appointments I had with them. Stating they called them to figure it out but with no valid proof but word of mouth. It was really strange they didn't let me know ahead of time. The service date was in March and it's AUG they just let me know and charged my card that my insurance wasn't working for only this date of service. I could have just called my insurance myself to get it figured out but i didn't get a chance to do that. STILL no invoice. My insurance clearly stated I only owned $20 on my EOB (Explanation of Benefits) and when they got reprocessed then my EBO said I own nothing. Yet even thought I already paid my copay and my EOB confirmed that copay... I got charge $230 ($115 twice) with, like I said, NO INVOICE. Want to emphasize that. They stated they resubmitted my claims but only sent me screenshots without my name attached so i'm not sure if those were for my claims. They also sent me documentation of for claim forms but the date was literally the date I ask for the forms... which was also strange. Asked for a copy of the forms with the correct dates but was not given them. My insurance company called them and asked for the proof of their resubmission to make sure they were on time to confirm its my insurance was at fault but they have not wanted to try and help by just sending them. It's a pretty simple task. Even I reach out to try and have them just share the proof to the insurance but for some reason they won't and they won't reassured me or confirmed that they have or are willing to do so. Just because insurance(s) have protocols even if it's their fault doesn't mean you should just throw it onto the patient without letting them know. Let's say they are right and that the insurance didnt process correctly. Then their contract with my insurance would still cover it still if they just sent proof and they can just reprocess it as normal. It shouldn't be out of my pocket. I'm still working with them together get this figured out. If not, i'll probably be filing a complaint with the Oregon Medical Board. I think this practice is fine in terms of actually medicine but they need serious help and understand of what is right for billing, balance billing, insurance, patient reach out etc.

Review: Massage Therapy (not chiropractic) at Healing Chiropractic…read more This review concerns massage therapy services only, not chiropractic care, at Healing Chiropractic. The massage treatment I received here significantly aggravated an existing injury I am recovering from. In my view, this outcome could likely have been avoided had the precautions I clearly communicated beforehand been followed. I sought care at this clinic as part of a long-term injury recovery. The massage therapist, Leonard Pinkowski, performed a session that resulted in a substantial setback in my progress. Before the massage, we spent several minutes discussing specific limitations and contraindications related to my injury. I explained that my neck is highly vulnerable and that certain movements must be avoided. Despite this discussion, without prior warning, my neck was placed into a position that immediately aggravated my symptoms. On the drive home, I felt very disoriented, experiencing head pressure, and pain radiating toward my eyes. After about one week, pressure ache symptoms persisted, and redistributed into my sinuses. Two days after the massage, I informed my physical therapist of what occurred. She expressed concern and stated that the maneuver described should not be performed in someone with my injury presentation. She also noted increased cervical tightness compared to my previous visit. Prior to the massage, I specifically communicated that: 1. No stretching or twisting of my neck should occur. 2. Rocking my body, even while working on other areas, should be avoided. 3. My cervical range of motion is very limited and should not be forced. When asked about home activities, I explained that even a mild cervical pillow was too aggressive for me. I was also asked about hanging my head off the edge of the bed while lying on my back (a traction-like position), and I stated that this would be far too aggressive. A chiropractor at another clinic later advised me that such edge-of-bed positioning should never be suggested during recovery from this type of injury. The original injury months earlier resulted from a traction-based mechanism, which had previously been disclosed to the LMT. Given this context, it was especially concerning that my neck was placed into a traction-like position during the massage. I asked for reduced pressure once this occurred, but it appears to have been too late. It has now been 28 days since this aggravation occurred, and the symptoms introduced during that session have not fully resolved. This timeline can be verified by multiple providers on my recovery team. Progress I had made was disrupted, and this setback caused me to miss a planned therapeutic window over the holidays, altering my recovery timeline. I have received therapeutic or medical massage from eight licensed massage therapists in my recovery. This one was the only instance in which a massage session resulted in a significant and persistent setback, which I believe may have resulted from precautions not being followed. My wife has previously received massage at Healing Chiropractic just once. Her impression of the LMT was also that communication felt more directive than collaborative. I contacted Healing Chiropractic the next day to report what occurred. To their credit, they did initially apologize and stated that they take feedback very seriously. However, I am unsure how this translated into any meaningful follow-up. A message I later sent was not returned. In the weeks following, I required several additional therapies specifically to address the aggravation. Recommendation: Individuals recovering from significant or sensitive injuries may wish to exercise caution when considering massage therapy at this clinic.
