Convenient for the train station, and a generous but easy walk from the town centre, this little Hotel is quaint but a little rough around the edges. The reception isn't manned and although the office meant the staff were 6 foot away through an open door, I had to pick up the phone and dial '0'!As the lady began to answer the phone as though it were an outside line, she looked surprised when I said hello! from 2 places at once.
Weird.
As I spoke to the lady (face to face now) and she was helpful, but her demeanor gave me the impression she was trying to hear me above the voices shouting in her head! That is possibly a little unfair, maybe she had a migrain.
The room was at the top of the stairs, and everything looked on the surface very much in order.
However.
Flushing the toilet created a moan from the pipes which would put a fog horn to shame! The radiator made noises every so often that sounded like pebbles being thrown down a corrugated iron roof. It needed bleeding, very badly. It woke me in the night several times.
I did sleep pretty well, and the breakfast was ok.
I have yet to check out, so if I have any other comment, I will add them later :-)
