Why is there always that one employee that could be doing something that is within her skill set but chooses to be the upfront customer service person who obviously does not like people? I was picking up a carry out order, received text that said it was ready. Walked to counter, told her my name and I was here for carry out order. Then she asked my name, I said it again politely, she then gave me a visibly rude look and walked off...nothing said. A guy then turned around and said my name, I nodded yes and he passed me my order. I am in a customer service industry, this is not the first impression you want to give and keep customers. That being said I also know how hard it is to get employees and keep customers happy...heck most days I just hope to keep the status quo. This is gonna be my last time going to a Shake Shack anywhere in the city because service is just rough. I had to come around here because the first Shake Shack in the Theater District had no kiosks therefore I couldn't order from the app in that area so I had to come around here. I already had an iffy feeling coming here because the area is more of a pick up and go area with barely any seating inside, although there was plenty outside and ordering from kiosks were preferred since the actual ordering area is like a conveyor belt pushing out orders in an overly busy location. Reminds me of the Bryant Park location which I wasn't too keen of because service was sluggish there but was still fairly adept compared to this location. I ordered my food 10 minutes before reaching the place and it took 10 minutes AFTER the estimated time for it to be done to have my food brought to me. There was much anxiety and frustration, from me and others. Some guy spazzed and crashed out as he stormed out of the area. I couldn't blame him at all, the service in this spot was absolute booty buttcheeks & not the fine hot supermodel booty but the nasty, stank homeless booty, the service was borderline atrocious. When I FINALLY got my order, they couldn't even get the small detail as to NOT put onions in my Big Shack. The Big Shack I got looked like slop, I almost facepalmed onto the freaking table I was sitting at. OK then, rant over because on to the actual best part of the review. Trash service aside, the food...for what it's worth, I've NEVER had any shake shack order that was less than satisfactory no matter how inadequate the service or setting of the place was. The Big Shack is basically a definite upgrade over the Big Mac from McDonald's and I can't call anything a knock off if it's better than the actual product. It was DELICIOUS! I also had standard fare fries which were a delight as usual, I got that because it was $3 on the app and same for the soda which is $1 on the app as well. I also got the Christmas Cookie Shake which tasted like makeup sex, meaning it was GOOD! In conclusion, you want good food from Shake Shack with actual, productive service, go to the ones in Queens & Brooklyn. Heck maybe even the Bronx since it can't be THAT BAD up there. I walked into this establishment on the first occasion for a promotion from the liberty game for which my wife has season tickets. I arrived to find lot of people looking like they were at the DMV but they were not on line just waiting for their order. My office is nearby and I've always considered coming, however, there is always a lot of folks here and there are various other options in the area. On this day, I took a. Finally an employee noticed me but made no effort to walk towards the register. At the same time, I noticed the kiosks behind me and I asked if i needed to order via the kiosk. She told me I did and I proceeded to place my order. Only a few shorts minutes later, I turn my back and see two other people ordering from this same cashier-- I'm like WTH!? Why did she tell me to use the kiosk, but took these other two people! As I was waiting for my order, a seemingly homeless man enters and repeatedly asks and semi-demands that I get him a burger. I declined, but after multiple times of him asking I just decided to give him a few bucks. The workers are just standing there watching him, but didn't do anything. It's NYC, and it's normal for folks to panhandle, but maybe suggest he leave the premises. After giving him a few bucks, he decided he would help himself to someone else's order that was on the counter and left. I finally get my order and head back to my office, I noticed the fries had cheese of them, which I did not ask for and I didn't really care for. Love Shake Shack! The SmokeShack burger is delicious - the crispy smoked bacon and the smashed patty with the melted cheese.... bomb dot com. My chief complaint about Shake Shack is the portion size - the burger is quite small (if you can eat a lot like me, you could probably finish 2 burgers if you were really hungry). In-N-Out is cheaper than Shake Shack across the board, and so far that reason, the comparison isn't exactly apples to apples. Because Shake Shack costs more, they should be using better ingredients which should technically result in a better tasting burger. And to me, it does taste better, as it should due to the higher cost. But that doesn't mean it's better than In-N-Out. So for all you comparing Shake Shack to In-N-Out... give it a rest. If you don't get there when they open you may need to wait in line. I've always found their employees to be welcoming and efficient. It's a routine you learn that is typically the same from location to location. I like this location as it's not far from Central Park. Sometimes I take my food to the park unless I'm with my daughter. When we're together we dine in. My burger is always moist and prepared as I requested. I love the custard for desert too. I also love checking out the new rotating items on the menu, currently they have a Korean-inspired chicken sandwich/fries and a black sugar milkshake. This was my first black sugar experience and I'm absolutely hooked to the nutty flavor thanks to this milkshake. My go to here is the shackburger with bacon. My family and I went here for early dinner yesterday. We got burgers, fries and my daughter had chicken. We all got different shakes and everything overall was very good but not great. Staff was busy and didn't seem eager to answer any questions. For whatever reason they were making everything for takeout anyways. Kiddos enjoyed a chocolate and a vanilla shake and were very happy. Wife and I shared a maple snickerdoodle. There were little clusters that were interesting to crunch on. Very tasty. Small location in a heavily foot trafficked area. Fortunately, Shake Shack picked a spot that's primed for good weather, with so much seating outside. I, however, stopped in here pre-Broadway show to have some dinner and felt the only option was to eat outside in 40-degree weather because the interior is so small. Despite my unyielding love for Shake Shack, I almost opted against eating here because I walked by and it looked so busy. However, nothing else in the area sounded appetizing, so I scuddled inside. Note: I'm catching up on reviews and got food from this location last week before the order was given for all restaurants to do take-out/delivery only. I wanted a late night snack so was happy to find this location close to Times Square. It is a small location with limited seating inside and tables outside. The menu and service are the same as other locations, no complaints! I've had Shake Shack burgers many times before which are great, but this time I decided to try the Chick'n Shack. The chicken was thick, juicy and the batter (more like fine panko bread crumbs than flour) was crunchy. I liked that there was a lot of flavorful pickles vs the 2 or 3 that other competitors put in. The shredded lettuce makes it easier to eat without worry of biting and pulling out a big piece of lettuce. It is a bit of a messy burger with a lot of mayo that tends to ooze out of the bun. The burgers rightfully get the most attention, but give the chicken a try. Next time I'll have a hard time choosing between a burger or the chicken! read more

New location that open today, December 26. Note: there is no special flavor concrete at this location. There are 2 doors: 1 for entrance and 1 for exit. This location may be small though it's pretty quick. There are 4 kiosks and 2 cashier registers to order food from. There are 2 tables on the right side and 1 table in the back to sit. There are more tables in the square if you need seats and tables. The cashier was figuring out how I tried the cookie crumble milkshake and a Shroom Burger (the only non-meat option). Not a vegetarian, though I like their portabello mushroom with cheese on the bun the best. The milkshake was a bit sweet for me though I haven't had a milkshake craving in a while. When I want a double cheeseburger in Midtown, Shake Shack has proven to be reliable, consistent, and delicious. Smash burgers are the move here. Yes, you can get the famous shroom burger, or even the shroom+smash burger. I've tried the chicken nuggets (passable) and the fries (decent). It's nice to have a side with your sandwich but the burger itself is what I care about. While the city's best independent smash burger outlets are located downtown (I'm looking at you, Smashed, 7th Street Burger), Shake Shack does the trick in every neighborhood. Service was quick and efficient and the staff were friendly. They have a public seating area with tables and chairs right outside the restaurant. Not to bash on this particular Shake Shack, but a complaint that I have for their newly released Korean gochujang burger was that it was nowhere near authentic. I was excited to give this burger and chicken bites a try on the first day it was released and I was greatly disappointed. The gochujang wasn't as strong as the real thing that you'd find in red tubs at Korean supermarkets. This burger was obviously catered to American palettes. Big rip off for $8 if you asked me. The chicken bites were somewhat better than the burger IMO. Would've been better if the sauce were actually mixed-in with the chicken rather than served on the side. But still not close to authentic. But pick up is super easy - they put tables outside baring people from entering and they bring the food out to you once you arrive for pick up.
