I went with my coworkers to try the $10 lunch in the Midtown area. The facility itself is okay. I think I would be more inclined to return if I sat outside. My coworkers tried the wing place and really liked it. I wanted something a bit different so I went with Shaka. The $10 lunch includes pork, rice, and mac and cheese. All food items were really good. The pork was definitely the star of the plate. The meat was tender and had great flavor. The staff was also super friendly. I recommend if you are craving Hawaiian with a flare. read more

My first time eating Hawaiian food outside of a poke bowl! Might just be my new obsession. Visiting from Atlanta and checked out Shaka located in the food court The Collective. Literally sooooo good. The chicken was well seasoned, crispy, and had the perfect amount of bbq and paired greatly with all the sides. The total was about $13/$14 for the plate which i think was fair and fitting based off the quality of food and amount given. Great customer service during the whole process. I got the Shrimp Tempura that comes with rice & sweet chili sauce. Comes with 5 pieces of shrimp while sitting on top of rice & a drizzle of the sweet chili sauce (they also give you some of the sauce on the side). Again, light & just what I needed. Being a Malaysian Immigrant, food is everything to me. And let me tell you, this place is probably the closest to a pretty decent Hawaiian cuisine from the time I was in Honolulu. The spam musibi was moist and just salty to the bite. The loco Moco also was really good, though the beef patty was a little dry however it was still tremendous to chow down. I got door dash delivery tonight and everything was amazing! However minus one star for portion size. The side of mac salad was VERY small and disappointing and I wanted more because it was so good. Bar none the best Hawaiian spot in OKC - may even maintain this title as newer spots like Mo Bettahs or Hawaiian Bros. move in! It is one of the many "kitchens" in The Collective. I wrote in a previous review that Yuzo was the only place in town that served Loco Moco - but that was not until I realized they served their own version here at Shaka! I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ Da Kine Chicken this time (excellent and very delicious - sweet, salty and tangy with some heat/spice) but next time will definitely try their (apparently creative take on) Loco Moco. Perfect lunch spot as well because during the later lunch hours (like 2pm and after) The Collectivr is practically empty! Their Mac Salad (sort of made with this thinner tube pasta with scallions - a unique combination I have not seen anywhere else) is BOMB as is their Spam Musubi. Bonus points for incorporating things like pineapple chunks and avocado with their plate lunch dishes - another very innovative touch that I haven't seen anywhere else (Hawaiian Bros adds pineapple chunks but have never had avocado slices added). Taco Tuesdays at Shaka are le-git-i-mate!!! The same single mini corn tortilla you find on street tacos (not fresh masa, but I forgive them), filled to the max with super tender chunks of chicken thigh meat, marinated and grilled, aka "Da Kine Bird." Then it's topped with pineapple-mango chutney, a dose of sweet chili sauce, finished with a hefty sprinkle of salt to balance the sweet and umami. It was delicious! Avocado slice was tiny, but nonetheless, this is one of my new favorite tacos in town!! And at only $2 each you'll have plenty of dosh left over for drinks at the bar one room over. Workers here are very friendly. When Gerardo is at the grill you know it will be cooked right. Menu is priced fairly, with most entrees in the $10 range. Shaka Hawaiian cuisine is one of the vendors we patronized on our recent visit to The Collective. Our notoriously picky friend chose the 808 burger with steak fries. As we all tried something different we divided up the burger four ways and dug in. Scrumptious is the best was to describe this extra tasty burger. Done to perfection, juicy, and the pineapple added a note of sweetness that's indescribable. The steak fries came out so hot you almost couldn't eat them. But we dida and they were perfect. All of us decided to make a return trip at some point in the future just to try more menu items from Shaka Hawaiian cuisine. read more

Giant Meh here. Came to try the pork shanks, but they were sold out. The Loco Moco looked good so I figured I'd give it a try. Not a good choice. Looked great in the box, gravy came on the side, topped with grilled mushrooms and onions. This should have been a slamdunk yet when I attempted to eat it the burger foiled me. Burger was cooked to the point of being a hockey puck. Couldn't cut it with the plastic knife. Broke it apart by hand and it was basically inedible. Very disappointing. I may try it again some time as there were other things on the menu that looked good, but it's likely I will try other places at the Collective before I do that. I'm part Hawaiian and part of my childhood was spent on Oahu. I was really craving some Hawaiian food and I had stumbled upon this place on social media and wanted to try it. I used a food delivery service, which may explain why the food wasn't particularly warm. For the amount paid for the food, I felt like the amount didn't reflect the price but I will say the food tasted really good. I ordered food for my boyfriend and I. He got the scallops, which he didn't speak too much about, and a side of the shrimp, you get two, we both ordered spam must I, they were good but you can't really go wrong with spam!, and I got the loco moco, the gravy was delicious with the onion and the Mac salad made me feel like I was back home. In these days of covid, I am glad they signed up with a delivery service. My first order was "Da Kine Bird", and other than the fact that of course it was cold (because the driver didn't have an insulated bag to hold the heat - not Shaka's fault), the food was delicious. I told assorted family members about it, and naturally, since they also live localish, they ordered from Shaka, too. My daughter ordered the Loco Moco (my next choice) and called immediately to rave about it. Gotta pay the plumber first (thanks, Deep Arctic Freeze that swept through Oklahoma and froze/burst pipes!), but the next time I order from Shaka, it will be the Loco Moco, because honestly, who has time and desire to mess up 4 pots for one person? You need one pot for the rice, one pot for the mushrooms and gravy, one pot for the meat patty, and one pot for the egg. and then, you need a pot and a bowl for the macaroni salad, which is not the best macaroni salad, but is the best *Hawaiian* macaroni salad (it's very true to the Hawaiian macaroni salads I've eaten in Hawaii), and that means a lot. Shaka remains true to the Hawaiian food culture, with super delicious Loco Mocos, grill BBQ'd chicken, spam dishes, tempura, and all. Keep up the good work, Shaka, don't dilute your food to make it more "mainstream" - viva la difference! read more

If you haven't been to Shaka in the Collective then you need too!! I first fell in love with the Hawaiian macaroni salad, then I tried the grilled pineapple, then the Hawaiian bbq chicken. I was in literal food euphoria. Then... the special salt on the avocado slices, soooo good. The mango salsa and rice compliment it all. This is all with the Hawaiian bbq chicken meal. The fried shrimp are so good as well! I like that they stretch them out and make them look like seafood magic wands. Shaka is one of the joints inside and we were determined to try it out. My wife and I tried the 'Da Kine Bird', which is the Hawaiian bbq chicken. The plate came with steamed rice, macaroni salad, avocado slices and pineapple-mango chutney. We loved it! It was all very flavorful, didn't feel heavy and all came together nicely. Dis place is ono! As a boy who grew up on Oahu, I was excited to find a Hawaiian plate lunch place. Today I tried the Da Kine Bird, which I would call Teri Chicken plate. One scoop rice (it's usually two back home, but it's good sticky rice), ono (delicious) Mac salad, avocado, and pineapple. It's the closest thing to home plate lunch I have found in Oklahoma. I also recommend requesting extra teriyaki sauce. It's the homemade kine. One wish... please consider adding a Teri beef plate in the future. Housed in a really beautiful food hall with lots of street parking options! Food was delicious, but is pretty pricey given that the portion is so small.
