Everything we ordered was really very good. The mango lassi was creamy and just sweet enough; the garlic naan was among the best that I have eaten. Both dishes, chicken chili and mushroom matter, were delicious. Our waitress was a delight. This restaurant is definitely going to be on my list whenever I return to Viana do Castelo.

They also open at 7pm, so if you're ravenous like I was, you're definitely tested with the wait! I ordered a garlic naan with mushroom paneer, and the portions were indeed tiny for the cost! I gobbled up my paneer within minutes, and of course did not have naan to scoop everything up. At least they were not afraid to add the spice---it was the spiciest Indian food I've had in Southern Europe thus far!

The restaurant wasn't busy that night so I believe our servers were the owners, so, naturally, the service was very attentive. Our table was close to the entrance so on a busier night, it might not have been ideal. However, on this night it allowed us to have a nice chat with the owner/chef who told us he had worked in restaurants around the world, including the US. His enthusiasm for preparing the dishes was evident and he boasted that his good benefited from the added ingredient of love. Popadoms were of the spicy kind, with three small sauces (a mango chutney, a yoghurt and mint and a lime pickle). We didn't go for any starters and went straight in for a lager (bitburger....seemed an odd choice for an Indian restaurant in Portugal to have a German beer on tap...but not unwelcome..) a large bottle of still water and the main events. I had the Murgh Jalfreisi and my companion had the Murgh Masala. With a garlic naan and a pilau rice between us. Mine was spicy, sort of madras level as I'd read it. With the unusual addition of cabbage. My companion's dish was mild and creamy with just a hint of spice. Extra chopped chilis were given to us to increase the heat if desired (something a lot of curry houses could learn from). The naan was a little buttery for me but a great garlic taste. The rice was as you'd expect. The meal came to €55 minus tip. Seemed a little pricy but we were both happy with the food which is more important for this case. Would happily visit again if I was nearby. Some of the prawn dishes looked amazing so I'd probably switch to those.

Wanted to try Indian food in Portugal!…read more I took a fairly large group (~10 people) to this restaurant during a peak lunch hour and was seated immediately with no reservation! The restaurant is located on a beautiful multicolored and "hilly" street. Nice walk from the park nearby! The waiters were very nice and helped people who hadn't been to an Indian restaurant before or didn't understand what the different dishes consisted of. I would recommend the mango or salt lassi to start with. You don't and probably shouldn't order an individual dish for each person in your party (portions are big and it is meant to be shared family style). We only ordered four dishes and a ton of Naan and Roti for our group of ten people (we walked out of the restaurant stuffed). Oh and yes try the cheese naan! My only gripe with the restaurant was that when we got there they said that they would take credit card but then when paying the bill they said that they actually don't. It wasn't that big of a concern because we ended up having enough euros to cover the bill, but just caught us a little blind-sided. Maybe their machine just broke or something. All in all, I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and want to try Indian food in Portugal :). It honestly was pretty close to the real deal- I was impressed!

My sister is a vegetarian and this place didn't disappoint. They brought a tray of 3 chutneys and thin bread to start. Next we ordered veggie samosas which were really delicious especially with the sauces! My sister ordered spinach paneer. It is the only place in Porto where they make their on paneer in house and she said it was amazing! I ordered the chicken tika hot and to be honest it wasn't hot at all but it was very delicious. Tip- entrees don't come with rice so, order on the side (maybe this was specified on the menu and we missed it). Garlic naan was delicious and massive quantity. Don't be fooled by the empty restaurant. Food was fantastic, wine was cheap -- and the view - just breath taking (sit outside)!
