First, a bit of my story. I started playing football in second grade. I remember taking big hits…read moreand even getting knocked out back then. I played up through my sophomore year in high school. I did not play junior year because of a car accident I was in over the summer. I had hear trauma from that ad have zero memory of anything around that time. I started playing rugby in college. I played three years in college, and two years of men's club after college. Needless to say, just about every weekend I took hits to the head, some were definitely concussions and repeat concussion at that. I've even knocked myself out putting away Christmas directions in the attic by hitting my head on a rafter. A few years ago, my wife told me about this Chiropractor in the Mechanicsburg area that specialized in head injury and concussion. I was interested and got some additional information, but didn't do anything with it ever though I have been showing signs of memory loss, anger, and a few others. Fast forward to late summer 2016. I ended up bouncing my head off the hardwood floor of my home. Was not knocked out, but began throwing up immediately. I went and saw my PCP the next day and was diagnosed with concussion and sent home. At that point all I wanted to do was hide in a black hole. Everything was setting me off. Thankfully I remembered about the Dr. in Mechanicsburg, or my wife reminded me. I don't remember... My wife and I met with Dr. Dave a few days later. His concern and care was evident immediately. We talked about the severity of having somewhere around 15 plus concussions and my symptoms. I was having light sensitivity, issue with sounds, constant headache, anger issues, balance problems, and some major stuttering. I felt like Ozzy Osbourne was talking when I tried to speak. I was in a very dark place, and didn't know if I would or could ever come out of it. Well Dr. Dave did his initial assessment, then gave me a treatment. I could not believe the immediate relief I felt. When I say immediate, I mean immediate! Like while I sat there. I cried. I was not cured by any means, but it was a start. I started seeing Dr. Dave twice a week for a few weeks. I was feeling so much better!!!! I decided to take some time off from treatments to see how I was. Wouldn't you know it, I take a full size Tonka dump truck to the forehead. I needed to get back. Thankfully I was able to get back in to him! He was more than supportive and did not push the financial aspect. I have never been in contact with another medical professional that was so willing to work with me no matter what my situation. I am so thankful that I was in the right place at the right time to be treated by the Headache Freedom Center of Harrisburg.
