Today was my first visit to a Chiropractor. I've been having discomfort in my neck/arm and just overall feeling achy in my hips... so I decided per recommendation to try it. I am 56 years old and I was honestly scared to death! Dr. Brian came in and immediately put me at ease. He made me laugh the entire time he was adjusting me... what a GREAT guy!! Excellent experience, wonderful staff and environment. I saw Dr Tom and he takes time to listen, gave me advice and provided stretching instructions. He actually sees patients at his house if you are dealing with an emergency or in extreme pain. I have been to 5 Chiro offices over the years, hands down the best. I thought chiropractors were shady due to many requiring you always keep coming back. Dr. Brian Becker believes in getting you better and only treating you when you need it, proactively or reactively. Every few years or so I end up coming back and Dr. Brian is great. We had high hopes heading to the appointment with this Chiropractor, we had one person who recommending giving them a try, though they were not likely to return, and we went by the Harrisburg Magazine polling. The insurance staff, I forget her name is great!!!! She was the best part. The rest was average. We had a 1/2 hour intake and the exam showed that my husband had deficit in strength and had a moderate degree of pain with extension. He was then put on ice with a roller chair. Then moved to the waiting room to sit for 25 minutes at least in a very uncomfortable chair. Here is where we found it was not the right place for us. Its an open area with two tables in which the chiropractor can see over into the waiting room. It felt like a sermon waiting in that room, he clearly is Christian and likes to speak about it, but found it unprofessional in that others may have other beliefs. He worked on patients while talking to others in the waiting room. There clearly is not a cell phone policy. How can you be present and working on a person while talking about BBC, TV shows, Christian rock bands? Someone talked about pain in their back and they talked about getting a 1/5 of Jack. Having had such great chiropractors who would give individual attention and care, this is not the place for someone in pain, in our opinion. There were numerous HIPAA acts as he mentioned individuals by name and diagnosis. We were taken back. Horrible experience and even the way he talked to my husband, it was insulting. He doesn't truly know his anatomy and adjusted the sacrum and stated it was the tailbone. The tailbone as in coccyx - you cannot adjust it that way! Maybe great for someone else but not for us. read more

Desperately trying to find a quality chiropractic office in the area. This office was busy. They weren't the most helpful at the reception desk. I appreciated the seemingly thorough exam at my first visit, but I don't know that it meant anything. I really hated how the rest of the visits are like an assembly line. You go to sit in some room with ice and massage chairs and then go wait in another room to get adjusted. Problem is the room is open (hello, HIPAA violation). If the doctor wants to tell you ANYTHING, he has to whisper. And you can't hear what he's saying. The other issue I had was how much he tried to push his religious views on everyone. Sorry but that's not the place to talk about religion. Not going back. read more

I walked into my first appointment at Becker Chiropractic with so much back pain from my former career and I was extremely hesitant to try anything because of the discomfort. Until now! Dr. Becker immediately worked his magic and alleviated the distress in my body almost instantly! I've been in for plenty of appointments since and I can honestly say that I can feel the healing process. I have been going here for many years and find it to be an awesome place! You can choose between having an open area with Tom or you can schedule with Brian(that's who I go to). With Brian his sessions are in separate rooms. Both are very nice and when I had a traumatic back injury this place took very good care of me. read more

my fave part is the 15 minute massage chair. I could have slept for days. my least fave part is the open room. I would love privacy.

I'm in awe of the mechanics of this practice. Maximum turn out and I always feel like I'm getting Dr. Becker's undivided attention. A well oiled machine, for sure! The staff works like a team that has been training together for years. I've never felt any stress or anxiety from tensions in the office. Overview: Complete lack of empathy or compassion, very poor listening skills, discarded this patient when in pain and when she requested that the same components of the therapy that caused the pain was not repeated. Experience: I was in a car accident while working and was sent here by workman's comp. During my first visit's interview, I asked that my neck NOT be cracked or "adjusted". I'm a 45 year old woman, fit, been in car accidents before, seen chiropractors, physical therapists, practicing yoga for nearly 20 years and know what my body can handle. The request to not adjust my neck by cracking it did not get through and Becker Sr. did it anyhow....I was in pain all weekend. I had to work on the Friday following the Thursday's initial visit and then took care of a sick child all weekend, with various amounts of pain in my neck. My lower back also was in pain and mobility was severely restricted. Upon arriving for the second visit, first thing on a Monday morning (I had to miss work), I was directed to use the computer screen check in system that asked me to rate my pain and where it was, what kind of pain, etc. Jackie, from behind the desk, came out to help me. I started identifying an area of pain, ranking it very high and diverse in quality. I asked Jackie that she let the doctor know that I did not want my neck cracked. She stated that he would be given a note to that effect. I also, at that point, let her know that I did not want the lower back adjusted with a crack either. Jackie actually laughed at me and stated that I should not be there and should go somewhere else. "So you are telling me I should leave without speaking to the doctor?" Jackie smiled and said, "Yes, you should go to physical therapy or something." It is also worth noting that Becker did not take the time to see when the car accident occurred. He was unaware of this information, despite me repeating the date to staff at least 3 times. I was in mild pain when I walked in there the first time. It was healing. Now I cannot breathe without feeling it in my neck. Ice helps, but I cannot take meds right now. I had a headache all weekend from the pain and still have one as I right this 10/3/16, since the first treatment last Thursday, 9/29/16. I could not hold or comfort my 4 year old son over the weekend when he was sick as I was able to do days before. Turns out the woman who basically told me to leave, is Dr. Becker's wife. No apologies, no concern. When I called to talk to the doctor, she feigned she could not hear me. Same person, she confirmed, to have stood and laughed at my predicament to my face and then told me to leave. Summary: Avoid like you would the plague. Dishonest, callous, cruel, unethical. Office manager, "Jackie" demonstrated that laughing at people in pain is acceptable and seeming normal at Becker Chiro. It's worth noting that adjustments are done in an open room with no privacy: everyone can hear the conversation about you and your body and health that you are having with the doctor. Dr. Becker even lights up where on your body work was done, for everyone to see. HIPAA? . I'm at a loss of what to think when a physician says he is so excited to work with me on getting healthy again, talks openly about praying for people, hugs patients; but his employee (who is also his wife, strangely enough) laughs at patient in pain when she requests not to be treated with the 2 specific adjustments that caused the pain, out of several adjustments that seemed benign or even helpful. I don't see how a patient stating her health concerns and preferences of treatment warrants laughing or denying help, relief from pain, a discussion about alternative therapies. I would think that reviewing the patient's history, and how the patient has reacted to various body work modalities might be a good start. Mrs. Becker, did not care to ask my past experience with therapies, my personal health history, injuries, etc, when giving me her professional opinion that I should go away. read more
