Scheduled an appointment. Took the day off work. Shafer calls the next morning wanting to reschedule my appointment for earlier in the week. Told them I already had the day off on Friday. They confirm appointment for Friday. Then call back 30 minutes later and tell me there was an emergency and I could have a Saturday appointment at an additional cost. Had a salesman out for a new unit. I felt extremely pressured to buy now! It was so expensive for just an 1100 square foot home. After it was placed, I signed on for the Maintenace program. They came once. Shortly after the heat quit working. I checked the filter, and they forgot to put one in. That summer the air went out. I was out walking my dog at night and could see a light through the vent under the house. They did not turn off the light, and it had been on for 3 months without my knowledge. Now, they keep charging my credit card for the maintenance and have not been here in 2 years. I called to get it taken off my card and told a manager will call me. A week later and still no call. Very expensive!!! After being here an hour they Wanted more money to find the leak in our AC unit. Had another hvac person come out, found leak within 5 minutes of being here. He fixed the leak and price was less than half of what we paid Shafer. We will never use Shafer again and do not recommend them! read more

I bought a one year maintenance plan and then later bought a new furnace and a/c. When they came to check the units after 6 months they debited $120 from my account for a maintenance fee. After a couple of phone calls and one email I received a phone call and they refunded the amount of the debit. The email specifically stated they did not have permission to debit from my checking account. The gentleman who called told me it was a new software and would not happen again. On May 19 they debited $240. I called and was told I had signed up for a recurring maintenance plan. I said I did not believe I had and even if I had I referenced my earlier email stating they were never to do so again. I was assured I would receive a call back whdidn't happen. Three business days later I sent an email which included my original email. When I received no reply I again called yesterday and was told the office manager was in a meeting and would call me back later that day. It has now been more than 30 hours and I have not heard back from anyone. read more

I would not recommend this company to anyone. They came to home to do a repair, first off very unprofessional. I asked for a breakdown of my 300.00 charges according to them heating and air doesn't work that way. I can't have a invoice with service call charges, parts, labor fees.Next I wanted to what my warranty is for the parts replaced...... There answer i don't know, I'll find out. Oh after you charge me 300.00 for a 20.00 part.....the warranty is 90 days. I honestly think asking for a breakdown was not asking to much for those kind of charges. read more

We hired Shafer to install a new geothermal unit in our house last year (2018). They were very professional throughout the process of selection of the unit, pricing, warranty and installation. They came promptly every day until the job was complete. They utilized protection to make sure our house wasn't damaged. Their employees were friendly and polite. We purchased their maintenance plan as well and they come out twice a year to check over our system. We also called them on a problem we were having with the air conditioning unit in another house.
