Our boys got to experience what it's like out in the countryside of this part of Nebraska. They fed llama's, swung in a big old tree swing, tossed some horseshoes and slept comfortably under the sound of a rainstorm on the roof. Everything is lush and green. Our hosts are very good people to know. We ate dinner at an old café down the road and enjoyed the burgers and chicken strips for the kids. The locals here treated us very nice. I found this little town remarkable and so rich in history that it overwhelmed my senses in a wonderful way. The sky at dusk and early morning are spectacular.

Their hospitality was outstanding: switching rooms when the first didn't suit, providing a generous spread of fresh fruit and homemade cinnamon rolls each morning, heating up baby food, lending us dishes for our barbecue, and then washing them afterwards...the list goes on and on. There's a lovely patio area, and a beautiful living and dining area inside. The lawn comes complete with lawn games and an old-fashioned tree swing. Dave will cook up fantastic meals to order and take care of your every need. Additionally, the small (nay, tiny) town is perfect for wandering, and features a lovely playground, a (sometimes open) swimming pool, a library that's open for a few hours on Tuesdays and Fridays, a one-man farmer's market on Friday, and the Most Unlikely Place, an art gallery and cafe that's lives up to its name. The few people you find here are kind, curious, sociable, and generally delightful. You'd think all this would come at a sky-high price, but the prices are equal to or better than any of the chain hotels in Ogallala. For about 20 extra minutes of driving off the beaten path of Highway 80, you'll find an oasis of peace, beauty, and goodwill. Be forewarned, though: one night here will have you wanting more!

She was so pleasant and professional. Wish I would have got her name. We found our selves in a 4th floor room at the end of the hall with great pillows and a comfortable king sized bed. I slept so well. The air conditioning allowed for a cool room and a nice hum to drown out my husband's snoring. The shade kept it so dark. Did I mention I slept so well?! Breakfast was great. Scrambled eggs were fresh and hot. Oatmeal had fresh toppings. I even liked that they had an open milk container so I didn't have to open one of those cardboard milk cartons for my oatmeal then throw out 3/4 of it. Cudos to the breakfast manager. Great stop!

We had checked this hotel on Yelp before staying and did not find any red flags, or any reviews at all in the last two years. However, after our stay, we checked Google Reviews and found many red flags. Guess we will be checking Google from here on out. Talking with a staff member, we understand that the hotel has been under renovation for 8 months so far, and will likely be under renovation for months more. Apparently the new beds have been on backorder for 12 months so far. They are renovating in stages. Fortunately, they have finished replacing the carpets already and there is no longer a lot of dust. However, the partially renovated rooms still have issues even with the replacements. We stayed in Room 200. Hilton App showed us checked in but we were not. We needed to check in manually. During our stay the key card system was not working and we had to be let into our rooms by staff. Bagged waters were not provided the night we stayed but were being offered to new people the next morning. Our stay here was the worst experience of the Hampton Inns on our 3000 mile road trip. Personally, we won't stay here again. We will stay either in North Platte or Cheyenne. PROS: 1. Windows do a decent job of blocking the freeway noise 2. The shower is new 3. The carpets are new 4. The couch and chairs are new 5. There is a bed 6. There is working AC 7. The door does lock 8. Water does work 9. Elevator does work 10. Staff was kind CONS: 1. The hotel is the closest hotel to the freeway. 2. Only one elevator 3. New shower drain was clogged already and drained very slowly, leaving us showering in a lake 4. Old shower head was not adjustable in any direction or flow rate or pattern 5. Toilet seat hinge was broken, tilting the seat 6. Toilet was too close to bathroom door, so that you had to close the bathroom door to sit down 7. Bathroom door drifted closed always and would hit you on the toilet. Bathroom door needed to be all the way open or hard closed. 8. Shower light took a long time to fully come on. Shower/toilet room was completely dark otherwise. 9. Beds were old, hard, and really uncomfortable 10. All room number signage is not mounted on the wall yet, it is sitting on the floor 11. Bathroom sink hot and cold are reversed 12. Shower temp varies A LOT and could scald you if you turn it up too far when it dips cold

It's a cute little motel right off the side of the road just outside Julesburg. Slightly dated decor but everything was super duper clean - including the exterior of the building and the bedding, floors and the bathroom inside the room. There is a large mini fridge and a microwave in the room and our room had plenty of closet space. It is right next to the railroad tracks which didn't bother me but if you're not used to trains it may keep you awake for a little bit at night as the trains were running several times per hour all through the night. Make sure you call ahead when you're about 15 minutes out as my fiancé had to call when he got there and had to wait a few minutes for the owner/front desk manager to drive over and give him the keys and run his card. Checkout was a breeze - we just left the key in the room per instructions and got back on the road.
