We've been at EFGB in Cambridge with our two children since September 2017. It's been a wonderful experience. All the teachers are native French speaking and the children are completely immersed in French. They spend their days drawing, playing, singing, reading, and everything you would expect in a high quality preschool. There's even a weekly yoga session! The teachers are warm and engaged. The class sizes are small and the teachers know all of their charges very well. There's a playground attached to the school and they go out every day, even in bad weather. It's been great to get involved with a Francophone community. The parents are engaged and we see each other for holiday parties, birthdays, and playdates; we hope to still be in touch with French friends even as the children grow older and graduate to public schools. The schedule is a little less convenient than a typical daycare for working parents (more like a school schedule, no food provided though that may change soon) but for us, the loss of convenience is more than made up for by the quality of the school and unique ability to have our children's early years be completely bilingual.

The school outperformed my highest expectations. The teachers are top-notch, and they bring students the best of American and French educational systems -- with an emphasis on creativity matched by structured activities and clear rules. The students in our year came from a mix of cross-cultural families, representing 14 countries. The Cambridge campus, which is on the ground floor of a luminous building with warm, bright colors, welcomes kids aged two through six, while the Watertown branch of the school is open to older children. The school's location in North Cambridge was convenient to us, as we work at Harvard and MIT. They also have built in pre-school and after-school care to allow flexibility for working parents, like us. I envied my daughter's activities, which ranged from yoga, expressive dance, singing, painting, reading and numeracy to scrambling in the school's playground with a mix of kids of all ages. The crafts she brought home -- pictures of baobabs, an ant made of an egg carton, an aquarium in a shoe box -- are unique pieces that I treasure. Furthermore, the teachers created a lively Facebook page so we could stay engaged with our child's activities, for example, watching a caterpiller grow and hatch, or witnessing the joys of a group of toddlers getting their first taste of honeycomb. Whether your family are native French speakers or not, you would not regret sending your child to the EFGB. I can't imagine a better school.

My children attended for over three years, and I pulled them out after this school year started. Things have changed: The new director, Ms. Judy Cavanaugh is both immature and unprofessional and very disappointing in the way she treats children. Another head teacher, Ms. Shante, who was my child's teacher has poor manners and transfers "negative emotions" to children. I witnessed how she treats children in several occasions and felt extremely disappointed. In general, many staff members and teachers who function at below zero level and demonstrate so both by the way they treat children and unprofessional demeanor. The environment is extremely negative.

I personally gave a great deal of time and energy to the school community this year, volunteering more than 140 hours in various capacities. However, I was deeply disappointed by my experience with school leadership when an issue arose regarding a school trip. What concerned me most was not simply the financial issue itself, but the lack of transparency and flexibility in how it was handled. A significant cancellation policy affecting families financially was never disclosed in the enrollment materials we signed, and school leadership did not appear familiar with the applicable policy when questions first arose. Despite repeated requests, we were only provided with the policy after the trip had already concluded. At no point were families provided with clear information regarding illness-related cancellations, reimbursement timelines, or whether trip insurance was recommended or available. In hindsight, that information was critically important. In my experience, leadership was pleasant and collaborative when things were going smoothly, but far less flexible or solution-oriented when a genuine concern arose. Despite our family's significant involvement and goodwill toward the school, there was no willingness to consider even a partial compromise. Parents should make sure they carefully ask questions about financial policies, trip terms, cancellation rules, and how disputes are handled before committing to programs or payments.

We decided to our have our children attend the school and are very happy that we did. By utilizing the Montessori method in the younger classes and weaving it in to the older classrooms (which go through 6th grade), Kingsley offers a creative, fun, and effective way of learning. Not only are our children achieving academic success, but they both also love going into the classroom each day. As a family, we adore the caring and thoughtful staff and the overall school community. Highly recommend.

Because it's a co-op and has flexible afternoon scheduling it is more affordable than other preschools in the area. Parent presence in the classroom is not expected or required. They are so creative and organized that even a big messy project is finished just in time to start a circle time. The "cooperative" part of the name indicates that each parent spends some time as a teaching assistant. I wasn't sure if I would like this, however the time commitment is minimal (3 hours a semester) and I learned a lot. The teachers and program are excellent and the school truly does foster a sense of community among its members. The T-K program is more structured than the preschool but it's supposed to be and I did not feel that the children were being pressured. It's a 'traditional' pre-school schedule in that it's about 4 hours a day but you can also do after-care for another couple of hours (or maybe more now). It's very flexible and as said everyone seems truly nice. If the location and schedule work for you, I would definitely advise exploring this program and recommend it highly.

Like most daycare's there is a turnover in staff whether it is the teachers or the directors. We lucked out however and pretty much had teachers that were there long term and were very highly regarded. These teachers became a second mom to my child - they taught her things I never would have dreamed about teaching my child had she been in a home setting. I give them full credit for potty training my child at 25 months. We have had the teachers in my home and they've been invited to birthday parties. A few teachers even took the time to visit my child when she was in Children's Hospital for a week (after they finished their day). No daycare is perfect, don't let them tell you any different. The director we had prior to leaving was Meghan who was wonderful (probably my favorite out of all of them - I think she might have been # 4 over the course of our time there). No matter what daycare you look into or reviews you read there will always be a few with 1 star. Don't let that deter you from visiting this center and checking it out. We all parent differently and have different expectations on what we need or want for our children. My child was loved in this school for a long time - it was a sad day when we left to progress to Kindergarten. I credit the fact that my child is thriving in Kindergarten to her experience at Little Sprouts. Also - give your child time to adjust to a new setting. Children can't and won't adapt overnight. My child cried frequently at drop off for years (master manipulator) I was no sooner in my car driving to work in the mornings and I would get a text from the teacher with a pic of my child smiling. At the end of the day she didn't want to leave! We were at the school alongside many of the same families over the years. From my experience the only time folks left was because they moved, job situation changed, or the kid moved to K1. Feel free to PM me with any specific questions. Happy to answer them!
