For being such a prestigious and storied university, it's nice that anyone can walk on campus to see its historic buildings. There's a visitor center with restrooms, a cafeteria, and tours led by students. Several buildings on campus are open to the public like the Harvard Art Museums. The T has a station right there so it's easy to visit. read more

Having attended Harvard 2011-2012 my humble opinion are as follows. This is in light of what the news has been projecting on this wonderful institution. Although Harvard is an astonishing place on multiple levels, the College cannot be asked to perform economic miracles. The substantial money Harvard spends on progressive initiatives has to originate somewhere. Harvard thrives financially because it has a wealthy network of benefactors and supporters who believe in its cause. Those who donate generously to this mission are friends of the institution and must be treated as such if it expect to continue leading the academic world. Sometimes this source of funding does not appear as noble or progressive to us as the places where the funds ultimately end. But it must keep things in perspective; students must stop speaking out against programs such as the relatively innocuous Z-list or face the reality of losing the expensive humanitarian lifestyle they simultaneously advocate for. The Z-list is necessary as an institutional fixture that facilitates progressivism at Harvard. I understand the impulse to rebuke injustice, but I also understand that Harvard is both a school and an independent corporation. Therefore, Harvard must navigate its way through the myriad financial difficulties that face any multi-billion dollar organization while acting in a responsible manner that befits its end goal of undoing social disparity and serving society. read more

We toured this campus for my son to get ideas of where he wants to go. Since it's a winter vacation the campus is closed so we didn't get to go into the buildings. It was raining and cold we saw some of the sites. But it's not the same when school is in session. read more

I just like to put this in here as a sidenote they have a great great museum parking is right across the street. I believe it's free on Saturdays and Sundays. There was construction right outside my window starting early in the morning for months on end. Nobody told me it would happen so I could find elsewhere to live, and my housing fees were not at all reduced. The construction was supposed to end by mid-semester, but it was delayed several times, and I ended up very sleep deprived for a full semester. read more

What a beautiful campus, definitely recommend for any folks that want to see this university campus up close and don't have the fortune to be accepted for or have the funds to afford such a prestigious school in the US. It holds so much history and has been the alma mater for many of our past presidents, i.e., John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Rutherford B. Hayes, JFK, FDR, Teddy Roosevelt, George W and our last president, Barack Obama. Visiting the area it kind of went without saying that we would need to spend a little time and explore the campus of one of the most pristine universities in the world. Boston has so many historical things to see it can be hard to pick and choose if you're on a time limit. Let me just say, this is well worth the time spent! Depending on what you want to see, you can walk the campus in about an hour (possibly two - we were kind of hurrying so we could get more in). The campus grounds are immaculate and the various building all have their own special place. My favorite part was seeing the Coliseum ... I'd really love to see a game here! Glad we spent the time check Harvard out. Parking tip, there is a small section on the side of the campus, where the Coliseum is, that has 5 free parking spaces ... circle around a few times and one will probably open up. If not drive over the bridge and there is metered parking. Download the app and you can add time if you are gone longer than anticipated. read more

I'm a sucker for American history, so for me it was a must to visit Harvard and take a tour. It's the oldest university in the country and 8 U.S. presidents are graduates. The architecture is beautiful and the campus is majorly bike friendly. It's best to find parking somewhere else in Cambridge and take a Lyft because of how difficult parking is around campus. I've visited universities and colleges all over the country but Harvard stands near the top of most beautiful campuses I've ever been to. The buildings and grounds are immaculate and what it truly means to be "Ivy League" My review is purely from a visitor standpoint as I couldn't in my dreams afford to go here but I have really enjoyed the experience every time I visit Boston and Cambridge. The campus is absolutely massive and even has it's own museums and art galleries which are seriously impressive. The college town nearby is equally awesome and makes for a fun afternoon of exploration on the campus and nearby area. Parking here is not great but fortunately the Harvard Square T line is literally across the street from the campus for easy access! The visitors are allowed to enter the campus of one of the world's famous universities and roam around to see how it feels to be on this campus. Harvard Yard is bustling and evokes history, yet it's also forward-looking, housing a new generation and adjacent to buildings where cutting-edge discoveries are taking place. Red brick buildings and lots of history. Many presidents, Nobel prizes and Olympic athletes studied here. Depending on where you are going, Parking here without having a parking permit can be tough. The business school will sell you a daily parking pass for under twenty dollars, for their parking lot only. There is temporary street meter parking around the central part of campus. Beautiful campus, with a handful of projects under construction. I was surprised and disappointed to have been approached by several beggars just inside the grounds by the gates. read more

Reviewing as a student (class of 2014) and as a "tourist" having been a tour guide for most of my college years. 5 stars because of the opportunities this place has granted me, but like all universities the institution is not without its issues. The buildings are gorgeous from the outside and I'd recommend taking a stroll starting from the Yard where the John Harvard statue is. Do NOT rub that toe! It is for luck but it's not an uncommon tradition to pee on it. Never done it myself (gross) but have heard of men and some women actually urinating on it. Save yourself from a nasty infection. Pro tip: if you know a friend with a student ID, have them bring you up to the widener library and the second floor of annenberg by the stained glass back entrance. Unreal views. read more

The world famous Harvard University campus is open to the world and free for self-guided or other tours. The buildings themselves are closed, but that's to be expected of a place where future world leaders are grown and some of the children of the current world leaders attend. (The most recent US President and his wife both attended Harvard and their oldest daughter is soon to be one of the more famous "legacy" students.) The campus is quite lovely with lots of grass, lots of shade and lots of history. Don't miss the whispering arch at Sever Hall, the "statue of three lies" and the strangely placed bathtub (a humorous gift from nearby Radcliffe students) as well as the famous Harvard Yard where no one actually pahks their cah. read more

I came to the Harvard University student tour after the Boston Duck Tours. The student tours are all conducted by current students. The tour was very informative and interesting! The meet up location for the student tour is right outside of the subway station, it was very easy to find! The fall leaves and the architecture are beautiful! I had some time to kill during a long layover in Boston, so I decided to go check out Harvard. It was easy to navigate the T train and get there, as there is a stop just across the street from a university gate entrance. They have free tours of the campus, led by current students, departing about every hour and last about an hour. These tour groups are very large and it can be hard to hear to the speaker. My tip would be to do the self-guided audio tour. Just download each mp3 talk along the route and you can go at your own pace. https://www.harvard.edu/on-campus/visit-harvard/tours/audio-tours I did this and really enjoyed it, without the crowd. Many of the buildings are open to the public, so you can stop during the audio tour and explore the building it was talking about, then pick the audio tour back up. The one thing I was really disappointed about was that they didn't have ANY outdoor seating. All the walking I did for the tour, and all I wanted to do was sit down and rest, but they didn't have any benches or seating anywhere outside. They have this beautiful Harvard Yard and no seating. Talk about beauty and brains. All I know of Harvard is what I picture an ivy league school to be - geeked out, totally NOT legally blonde kids with, maybe, a Revenge of the Nerds type vibe.
