For so many years growing up, purchasing new sunglasses was merely a window-shopping experience. My eyes would have a field day (ooh...I like that one! that's shiny!) as I browsed what appeared to be a wide range of new school and old school sunglasses. I was expecting this to be a quick visit and to walk away - considering everything in the store to only be suited for someone with much more disposable income than myself.
Lured inside by the proximity of the store to the Malls Balls (traffic centre of Rundle Mall), I decided to sum up the courage to just walk in! I suddenly believed that I am good enough for this store! I may not be rich, but I can pretend to be! I was suddenly resurrected from the dead from my last review, especially with the help of the friendly shop assistant (who had a fantastic sense of humour by the way! He said, "to call him Mango, because he's hot all year round!" lol) who literally hand picked things that were the "best-selling" glasses that "made me look fly" and helped me ignore those round black sunnies that "make me look like a fly". In what felt like more than half an hour of mutual rapport, after sorting through some cool and very expensive sunglasses, I came away remembering a few of those gorgeous brands (I personally digged the look of the 'Paul Smith' and 'Oliver Peoples' glasses, if you can afford the $550 price tag) that were high on my ratings. My imitation of being fly for the day is done! :)
Shades is like the quiet marketplace of sunglasses - no-one has ever talked about it but if you find this store, and you're looking to add a little coolness in your life, I would highly recommend a visit! read more
