Thank you again to Gil, Napoleon and Juan! I strongly recommend that you contact Shades by Design if you are looking for shades, blinds or sheer curtains. Gil's expert advice and professional installations are most impressive! They deliver on schedule. Prices are extremely competitive! Quality products and materials used. It has been a month now since I had my 3% shades installed in my condo livingroom and bedroom and I am very happy with them. After googling local companies that sell and install shades, I discovered Shades by Design and I set up my appointment for an on-site consultation. The next day Gil arrived to inspect and measure the windows while listening to what I wanted. He provided expert advice and made suggestions, then took measurements and gave me an estimate right in the spot. His prices are extremely competitive with comparable quality products by companies charging much more. The delivery and installation were on schedule. Napoleon, the friendly and very efficient and professional installer was thorough and I especially appreciated his concentration on and attention to details. After the installation, Napoleon did a quick clean-up and reorganization of his materials and was on his way. After referring my brother to contact Shades by Design, again, Gil made very helpful suggestions for the best look and functionality. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of watching Juan and Napoleon install my brother's new shades. Again, both were very friendly, personable and professional. They were focused on the details and Juan went above and beyond with a task that made all the difference in the appearance of the finished product. He takes great pride in his work and is very detail-oriented as well. Juan takes great pride in his job, like Napoleon who Juan trained, focusing on every detail and overcoming some interior challenges to ensure the absolute best installation! Bother Juan and Napoleon are impressive installers and I STRONGLY RECOMMEND them to anyone. read more

We had two large awnings installed by Shades by Design several years ago, and the experience was so good that we recently worked with them again when we needed to temporarily unmount and then remount the awnings due to construction work. From start to finish, they are extremely professional. Every appointment was kept, they showed up on time, and they never canceled or rescheduled at the last minute--something that truly stands out, especially in Miami. Their focus on quality and attention to detail is exceptional. Everything--from the very first call, to scheduling, installation, and follow-up--was handled flawlessly. The team clearly takes pride in their work, and it shows in both the process and the final result. While Shades by Design is not the cheapest option, you truly get what you pay for. The craftsmanship, reliability, and professionalism are worth every dollar. If you are considering awnings, shades, or anything similar, don't hesitate to use Shades by Design. They deliver outstanding work and a level of service that is rare to find. read more

This was a good experience we had from this company from start to finish. The service and quality of the work was amazing. Hannah, our sales rep, was awesome! He was very helpful with explaining, listening to problems, suggesting and designing colors, where to hang my dining room sheer drapes from my sloping ceiling. Including the material for the roller shades in the living room. The prices we got were reasonable too. When the team came to install, they came on time and did the job well. Unfortunately, when they left we found out that they accidentally ruined our grass. And a concrete stone sank from reckless driving. We contacted back to the sales rep regarding our concerns. And we received an immediate response from customer service to try and resolve the issue for us. We finally got a gardening company to take care of it. Thank you very much for going above and beyond. read more

I have a two story wall with 25 ft ceilings that get direct sunlight every morning. While it's an absolutely gorgeous view, it gets really hot and even unbearable for any guests crashing downstairs. Did some research and knew I needed solar roller shades. Being a home automation geek, I also wanted them motorized and able to be controlled by app. I knew it was a complex job, so I solicited a couple quotes from local shades companies. The one company was OK, but the team at Shades is AWESOME. Itai came over and you could just tell he knew what he was doing. Because of their web presence and professionalism, I thought I was gonna get whacked on price, but they were surprisingly reasonable, so I trusted them with the install. The entire process was smooth. They are all professional, knowledgeable, perfectionists like me, and just all around good people. Gladys would respond to my annoying calls and emails in a matter of minutes, and they were always on time for every appointment. You may think that's table stakes, but those of us in Miami know otherwise. Love my new motorized shades! I highly recommend the team at Shades. 5 stars across the board. read more

Shades By Design - Final result from the team at Shades. World of difference. - Shades & Blinds Near Me - Miami, Florida

A terrific experience from the initial meeting to the installation! We purchased a house that had floor to ceiling windows and doors covering the front...felt a bit like a fishbowl. I quoted several companies for comparison and nothing rivaled the customer service and quality product. Working with Ray was a breeze. He was professional, knowledgeable and I genuinely felt like we were in good hands. So glad that we went with Shades by Design! Absolutely fantastic result. The installation team matched Ray's great service. They were on time, efficient and (most importantly) did a phenomenal job. Many thanks!!!!!!! read more

We had motorized blackout shades installed 3 years ago when we moved in to a new unit. They are beautiful shades but have frequent issues with the programming. They often get stuck and will not open or close completely. We called Shades by Design to come do a repair/reprogramming as they were the company who installed them. Getting anyone on the phone to even schedule the service appointment took multiple phone calls and several empty promises of being called back, but finally we had the appointment set. They contacted us the day before to ask if they could come later, we said okay despite it not being convenient for us but we needed it done. We were called in the morning, told they were about 20 minutes away and coming to us next. Over an hour goes by. We then get another call that they had an issue and they are now 20 minutes away. Over another hour goes by without any update, we call the company and they said it will be at least another hour and a half before they can make it. What poor communication and major disrespect of our time. We work night shifts so we can't just stay up all day waiting around for a service that may not even come. We cancelled the service. Nice products but poor customer service in our experience. We intend to schedule service with another company. read more

I don't know how this company has such a high rating. They were amazing in the beginning, during the sales process. Itai was very helpful and attentive, but as soon as the order was place he completely disappeared. I used SBD to install curtains and new shades in my living room as well as to install a motor on my bedroom blackout curtains. They were very expensive, which I didn't mind because I thought I would be receiving the best service. But I didn't. When they took the blackouts they replaced them with flimsy paper which made sleeping hard. In the past companies have replaced the curtains with a blackout material. I really had to stay on them to return the hemmed curtains and It took over a month. When they were finally returned they told me to setup the motor application myself which was not easy but I got It to work for a few weeks and then It stopped. So that sucks... I needed them to hem my living room curtains because they stretched with a few months time. They used this opportunity to charge me more. Today they still are too short and not the right length and overlap in an ugly way. I ended up just using my old guy to come fix all of their work for half the price. My finally opinion on shades by design - not impressed and would not recommend. read more

I met Gil over a year ago. I am a Real Estate Broker and one of my clients who doesn't live in the United States asked me to give Gil access to his property as one of the window treatments needed to be repaired. I got a very good vibe from Gil and started to refer him to clients asking if I knew anybody who did window treatments. I have found this company to have great communication skills. They pick up the phone when I call or always return my call in a very timely manner. They confirm appointments and follow up afterwards. They show up on time which is very important to me. I have gone to properties and had to sit there for an hour waiting for some people. I understand this is Miami, traffic is horrible and when you deal with high-end luxury condos, delays are normal. However, Shades by Design has the common courtesy to call where many other companies do not. Their prices are fair and reasonable and they stand behind their products with a more than fair warranty. I highly recommend! read more

Reading the reviews, it sounds like I should have requested Gil for an estimate appointment. Instead I got Raymond, a condescending sales guy who didn't ask what I needed, made assumptions, tried to contradict what I said and talked over me as if he knew better. Mansplaining at its finest plus inappropriate personal questions and suggestive bedroom comments. And when told there were other companies bidding for the job, his reaction was to tell us that his pricing is very high and many can't afford it. Had he asked, he'd have known that I'm most interested in quality of service and product, not price. I'm glad I wasn't alone with this know-it-all creep. After less than 10 minutes, we cut him short and kicked him out. read more

These guys did an amazing job on my friends penthouse in MIA. Every room had beautiful electronically controlled shades. With 3 different shade modes-it kept the place really cool during the day, while still being able to enjoy the views of the beach. This all started when my husband and I deciding that we would like to have some automated shades installed in our living room and master bedroom. We have direct view of the ocean and the morning light can be intense. We called several companies to come out, take a look at what we wanted and give us quotes. One of the companies that came to our condo was "Shades by Design Inc" located in Miami. After exchanging some initial email with basic specifications, Gil came out on a Sunday to meet with us. As soon as Gil came in the house, we immediately felt more comfortable with him than with the other people we had spoken to. He was on time, professional and helpful making several suggestions that we would not have thought of. Within 45 minutes, everyone knew exactly what needed to happen, we shook hands and waited for their quote. Several days later (the time frame that we agreed) we received the quote from Gil. Just so we are clear, they are not cheap, but I am very particular about quality and was convinced that they were the only ones who had the capability to do exactly what we wanted. We agreed on a price and paid the standard half up front. Gil and one other employee installed the shades. They were on time and we were left with zero clean up after they finished. The end result looks amazing. What can I say? I am blown away. We love our shades and the experience could not have been better. In this day and age of people who over-promise and under-deliver, finding an organization of this quality is rare. Thank you Gil. It was a pleasure working with you. read more

I have also recommended them to my neighbors whom have great things to say about the company. I used Shades by Design for two apartments in South Beach and found them to be truly excellent. Not only were they extremely price competitive but they were professional, on time and super organized. A treat in south beach ! Gil, the owner, is the consumate professional. I did a surprise inspection on one project and he was in the middle of telling his workers to keep redoing it until it was perfect. His standards were far higher than mine. After they were done, they cleaned up, and asked if everything was to my satisfaction. Really nice team, I can't say enough good thing about them. read more

Gil did a marvelous job on our shades and curtains. Great craftsmanship & the installation went well. I'm very happy & would use them again for shades and curtains. We also had window tinting included in our original order with Shades by Design, however the window tint was not installed properly by the subcontractor they sent. Sadly the tint bubbled. Gil was quick to help get the tinting removed & everything straightened out. Over all I am happy. read more

A guilty confession about SHADES BY DESIGN I confess we had a fabulous experience with Gil Breef and Shades by Design! Why is it a confession? Because I felt guilty I was thoroughly enjoying our new space but hadn't yet written this review, especially considering that I called SBD based on the online comments not a personal recommendation. Our experience was really the best! So here it goes, at last: *Their first on-site visit (punctual, professional, prepared, personable, patient and knowledgeable) was so far above expectations that we decided right then and there to retain them and call no one else. *From the outset, it was evident that they were far more than top-notch purveyors and installers of a broad range of fine and elegant products, which indeed they turned out to be. *Gil Breef also has an extraordinary design sense and keen problem solving skills, no doubt honed-in through years of experience. *Among the issues they had to address: relatively low ceilings; floor to ceiling glass doors one entire side of the three bedroom condo; direct sunlight/sunrise in the bedroom; an exuberant ( messy) chef in the small kitchen asking for "wipeability" and zero aroma absorbency ; city and bay views throughout requiring different light treatment options depending on time of day; a design that would work harmoniously with a British Colonial style, blending both tropical and traditional influences. Gil introduced us to a great Hunter-Douglas product called Luminette that interacts magically with light: translucent/view blocking but plenty of light, translucent with full view, and fully- open, of course. This ingenious hybrid of sheers and verticals elongated the floor-to-ceiling "feel" in an elegant yet unobtrusive way. The master bedroom's Luminettes were complemented by a motorized light-blocking shade that stays pitch black even on the sunniest morning... The kitchen issue was solved with special panels, and the custom office got a perfectly- sized wood blind to hide office equipment and supplies (Gil's idea). To the above add the flawless restoration and upholstery of two antique, heirloom chairs and two banquettes; the selection of upholstery and other accent fabrics for additional pieces. Oh yes, one last but very important item, the project was completed on schedule and on-budget, except for the things I kept adding (and don't regret for a minute). My highest recommendation in all respects for Gil Breef and the SHADES BY DESIGN team :) !!! read more

When I moved into my apartment my bedroom windows already had beautiful Hunter Douglas shades but unfortunately they barely blocked any sunlight. After receiving many poor and expensive suggestions for a solution, I went on Yelp and found Shades By Design. Gil came to my apartment and showed me what the best plan would be. After careful consideration I moved forward with his proposal. A few days later, Julio installed the shades. Ultimately I purchased blackout shades with side channels and cut my silhouettes to fit perfectly in front of the blackout shades. Julio made sure that everything fit perfectly down to the centimeter. I highly suggest using Gil & Julio from Shades by Design, they will make sure that your project is completed professionally and update you every step of the way. read more

Gil and his team did a really outstanding job in my brand new Penthouse in South Beach, cant stop thanking them! They went way beyond my expectation. First of all they arrived just before the appointment that i value tremendously since i find punctuality a sign of respect that i haven't found easily. I have 20ft ceilings that can be challenging for installation and the choice of material, system and color can make your space look either great or horrible. Mission accomplished! I highly recommend Shades by Design to anyone wanting exceptional service, product and really competitive Prices. read more

My clients just got done renovating their beautiful home in Miami on the bay, which now includes lots of big windows to enjoy the views. So, as you can imagine lots of sunshine comes in the house, which is beautiful but can also get really hot. One of the first necessities that the house needed immediately were shades before my clients can move in. I was looking for a mix of motorized black outs, mid coverage, sheers & customized curtains for different parts of the house, in addition to motorized awning for the pool/patio area. My clients had also mentioned that they were returning from their travel a week earlier than anticipated. Time I needed was a bit shortened but still manageable. Money is no object for my clients I just needed someone reputable, reliable & to be able to accommodate all I needed without jeopardizing quality as well. Then through an introduction I met Gil from Shades By Design. I knew right off the bat I found the perfect partner to work on this project with. A straight shooter, who's very knowledgeable & professional. I told Gil exactly what I was looking for. He made some suggestions/recommendations, I got a quote & I left the rest in the hands of Gil & his team. I've worked with many people in this town & people with great work ethics are like treasures. The final results are needless to say beyond my expectations. Most of all my clients love it, which made me look really good. Thank you Gil & your team for pulling through for me! I will be recommending your company to all my contacts & will choose Shades By Design for my next projects! read more
