I made the appt , only to be surprised when meagan called me stating that we didnt have an "actual" appt but just like an interview. That was red flag #1. #2 i wanted to confide in meagan about my last hairdresser dennis in braintree who constantly missed or cancelled appts and wanted to find somebody who would keep appts. Meaghan seemed very sensitive to me in my opinion because she seemed to take offense when i asked her if she kept appointments!!! Please i was just making sure that my next colorist kept their appts . Red flag #2. Finally she cancelled her consultation with me stating that we werent a good "fit" but she never even saw me!! I was laughing...like is this girl for real? I would never recommend this salon as they all seem very unprofessional.

I watched the stylist (Lyndsay) apply it - it was shampooed in, and my daughter was left to "process" laying her head back in the sink. Hair was washed and they went back to her chair for the cut. In less than 45 min, she was done. I get to the register and am charged $200 for a full color. That was NEVER discussed. I let the owner know my frustration and she responded saying well "a gloss is a full color. People just call it gloss and they don't know what they are talking about." Perhaps, but my daughter had the EXACT same thing done in August and it was nowhere near $200. I paid full price, tipped and left. I got home and called for clarification as to what exactly was done. Now the owner tells me that not only did she need a full color, root to ends, she also needed color correction. I watched the color process - and nothing extra was done to her hair. Lyndsay shampooed in a product and let it sit for 20min. That was IT! Lyndsay knew she was in the wrong. She disappeared without a thank you or goodbye or any explanation when it came time to pay. I'm disgusted. The owner offered a refund for the "difference," whatever that would be, but I refused it. No refund would make up for the lack of professionalism and the underlying feeling that I paid for services that we didn't ask for and, frankly, I'm not even sure we received.

After a 24-year relationship with my hair stylist on Newbury St. came to an end when he moved on to Cambridge, I went through two 'rebound' stints of about two years each with Maxime in Hingham (overpriced, very high personnel turnover...see review) and Charles David (pretty good until a really bad haircut...see review). The bad cut at Charles David sent me into the arms of Stacey Savage, one of the owners at First Impressions, who performed a superb fix and has been my stylist ever since. The shop is large enough to offer full services for hair, make-up, facials, and nail care, and yet small enough to enjoy feeling catered to rather than pushed through a production line. And pricing is quite reasonable compared to the aforementioned shops. For cut, color and foils I pay $150 every 7 weeks. The staff have all been with the salon for several years - no revolving door here. Highly recommended,
