I had a large pergola built on my back porch. Great work by SC. I have not used it in the sun as it was completed just before the snow came. But the snow doesn't get through it very much. From start to finish Bill and his crew were amazing - professional, extremely hard working and knew exactly what they were doing (something that is very hard to find these days). We had an existing main floor front and side older trex deck and an upstairs deck. The main level railing and some deck planks needed serious stabilizing and repair and the entire deck area needed to be roofed. A portion of the main level deck required a genius to develop an architectural plan for the roof to make it look seamless - and Bill was our genius! In just over 6 days we had a breathtaking new deck and we are just so thrilled with the result. Bill saw the project through on a daily basis - plans, permits, and inspections and did an amazing and thorough job offering suggestions all of which we took and making our new deck the envy of the neighborhood. I called Shade Concepts for an estimate for a large patio cover. I spoke with Bill. First thing he said was, "we are booked out through the rest of the year." I said that's fine, I'd still like to get an estimate for a patio cover, I'm not in a hurry. He said give me your address. I did that and he said, "you're in Reno, I hate working in Reno." Try xyz company. What a load of crap! People remember this, when times are good and companies are busy, some choose to treat prospective customers poorly, there will come a time when they need business again, choose those that understand the power of good customer service! I love these guys! Bill came out and gave me an estimate for install,set a date and they delivered. The crew is a pretty tight knit group.Not one of those workers were slackers.They were always doing something, including Bill the owner. They always took time to explain things when I had a question. Bill was a cool guy. Definitely listened to me, with my concerns, and suggested alternatives.We love the solid patio cover. It took 3 days from beginning to end. Bill took care of everything, including permits and blueprints. Our upright posts were cemented into ground below the patio pavers. When they were done, you could not tell the difference between before and after....except there is a post there.I would highly recommend Shade Concepts to anyone needing a quality shade product. read more

We recently moved to Minden from Southern Calif. Our backyard faces to the west and the sun in the afternoon was brutal. Shade Concepts was ra commended to us by two differ not people. Bill came out. He listened to what we wanted and what our needs were. After he came back with a bid, I was a little taken back by the price, but he has nothing but excellent reviews. After signing the contract, Bill said he was going to put lights in for us because of the depth of the solid patio he was putting in. Bill said that he would get to our project in August. Our landscaper said he was bumping up our project and was two weeks out from pouring our patio concrete. I contacted Bill and he said he would be out to get the permit started and get the footings dug for the concrete. He did not want to cut up our new concrete patio. The day that our patio concrete was being poured, Bill called wanting to know when the concrete was being poured. After telling him it was being finished as we were speaking, he said, he would be here in two weeks to install our patio. Bill's crew shows up as told. They were professional and caring about our property. They answered all my questions and were very polite. At the end of each day, they cleaned up the site, stacks off tools and remaining supplies. We won't be using these guys! Made an appointment for 5pm, I took off work early to make sure I was home prior to the appointment time. I got home at 4:45. My neighbor came over to tell me that some guy had already been there and left. I checked my phone messages and there was no message. Found a business card stuck in my front door. I had to call him (Bill) to find out if he was still in the neighborhood and he told me that he was already back in Carson and that he wasn't coming back out. He told me that he was driving and would call me back when he got to his office. Bill called us back at 5:20 and claimed that he remembered that my husband had told him that he wouldn't be home until 5. So Bill gave us some other "guy's" phone number and basically told us to call him. Completely unprofessional and rude since I took off work early to make sure I was home before 5. I was really looking forward to getting an estimate for the work we wanted done and it wasn't going to be a cheap job - but I'm really glad we found out now before we let him start working on our home!
