I understand the need for a cancellation policy as I run a small business as well but when a customer makes an honest mistake and alerts the business within an hour or so you would think they would treat a client that comes every week better.

I had such a great experience with The Shade Collective and wanted to give Lindsay the biggest shoutout because you can genuinely tell how much she cares about both her business and every client's experience from start to finish. She makes you feel comfortable immediately and thinks of every little detail like hair ties, nose plugs, drying throughout the appointment, finishing powder so you're not sticky afterward...all the things that honestly make a HUGE difference. She also talks you through what color would be best and the shade that you're going for and explains everything, which I really appreciated. I had gone somewhere else a few weeks prior and the experience was completely different. The space didn't feel very clean, it felt rushed, I had to stand in front of a fan forever to dry, and the results ended up patchy and uneven. Lindsay's process was the total opposite. She dries as she goes so you're not awkwardly standing there waiting, and the finishing powder was amazing because I actually went back to work before rinsing and didn't feel sticky or uncomfortable at all. Beautiful space, beautiful setup, and most importantly someone who truly cares about her clients and the quality of what she does. Highly recommend. read more

As a man who tans naturally, I was skeptical about getting a spray tan. But after my experience at Shade Collective, I'm a believer! Lindsay, the tanning specialist, was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain each step of the process to me. She started by contouring my body to create a more natural-looking tan. Then, she applied the tanning solution in a smooth, even layer. Finally, she finished with a moisturizing solution to help my skin retain moisture. The entire process took less than 20 minutes, and I was amazed at how complete and natural my tan looked. I was a little darker than I expected when I walked out of the studio, but after following Lindsay's instructions, the tan faded to a perfect shade. I would highly recommend Shade Collective to anyone, male or female. Lindsay is a true professional, and she takes great pride in her work. BEST TAN EVER! Honestly as a spray tan aficionado, this is hand's down the best spray tan I have ever had. The color is natural, organic, I had zero streaking, zero orange feet and I felt so beautiful. I recently have been battling cancer, and this spray tan gave me the glow that I needed to boost my confidence, and feel pretty again. The process is so simple... This was a great experience. It was easy to book online and there were many times available to fit my schedule. I am extremely fair, and have had less than stellar tans in the past. I got the 8h development tan with the contour and am so happy with the color. The tan process was fast and very comfortable, even though you are standing there naked. Pleasant conversation. I got my tan with Lindsay before a photoshoot and wow. She contoured me and gave me abs like J Lo. She sculpted my face as well and gave me that snatched look I always desired. I slept in it in a cozy set that I purchased at her space and woke up and rinsed it off. It isn't orange AT ALL and the contour is just such a nice touch. I genuinely thought every girl who helped me was sweet and professional. My issue is with the product and the results. I purchased a package of three spray tans. After my first session, I loved how it looked when I left, but once it developed, I looked extremely orange. Like Donald Trump Orange.... I couldn't even wait very long before booking my second session because I wanted to fix it. At my second appointment, I explained that I didn't like how orange I became. I've only had spray tans done in Miami before this, and I've never had this issue. I was told we'd try a different solution or method. During that visit, I also ended up purchasing a $45 tan remover and exfoliating mitt because it was recommended for my next appointment. Looking back, I don't really feel like I needed it, and I honestly felt a little pressured into buying it. It's still sitting unused. Unfortunately, my second spray tan was even worse. It was sticky, developed with noticeable streaks, and I looked orange again. It was so bad that I showered it off within an hour because I couldn't stand how it looked. When I came back for my third session, I had the same technician who did my first tan. I explained everything that happened during my second visit. She mentioned that my clothing may have contributed to the streaking, so I followed all of her recommendations and wore loose clothing afterward. She also told me we'd use an espresso solution so I wouldn't turn orange this time. The application itself was great. It wasn't sticky, and she did a beautiful job applying it. But once it developed, I was orange AGAIN. At that point, I realized this just isn't the right product for my skin tone. I'm Latina with olive skin, and I tan naturally very well. I was looking to become darker version of myself like healthy, bronzed glow. Instead, every time the tan developed, it leaned orange on me, and I was unhappy with the result. That's why I'm leaving a 2-star review. Honestly would've let a 1 star review for the tan and products but gave an extra star because how nice were the employees. They were all genuinely kind and tried to help. But after three different sessions, three opportunities to adjust the process, and multiple conversations about my concerns, I still ended up with the same result. Maybe these products work great for other skin tones, and that's reflected in the many positive reviews. But if you have an olive or naturally tan complexion like mine, I think it's important to know that your experience may be different. I considered reaching out privately instead of leaving a review, but after three appointments, I'm not really sure what the solution would be. Another spray tan would likely give me the same outcome. I spent money on a package, additional products, and multiple appointments, only to end up removing the tan because I didn't like how orange it looked. I truly appreciate how kind everyone at the salon was, and I wish I had a better experience. I just think there may be a gap in either the product selection or the approach for clients with olive skin tones, and I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future customers.
