My family have been going to the Agrabad sporadically over the last 10 or 15 years, and although we…read moredon't go very often, when we do it's always a nice enough experience. The staff are friendly, there is a good variety of food, and although they have a licensed bar, it's also BYOB; which is always nice. There were 7 of us eating there last night, although some family friends turned up and sat on an adjacent table, (something that always seems to happen when I return to Birmingham) so the atmosphere was probably a little louder than normal. We ordered a range of curries and sides and shared them out tapas-style. On a side-note, if you don't want to share but still want the variety, you can order one of the four Combos, which consist of 2 smaller portions of curry that compliment each other. The chicken tikka bhuna was a bit too spicy for my mom, so I swapped it for my very mild chicken balti. The lamb Sagwala was full of flavour, but had way too many onions in. Unfortunately the garlic & cheese naan was a bit bland and could have used more garlic and cheese... But the coconut rice was delish! I didn't try anything else, but nobody seemed to be complaining so it must have been nice. The price was very reasonable, seven of us rolled out of there stuffed to the gills for just shy of £80.

I don't eat halal food but this has never stopped me from dining at halal restaurants with friends…read morewho do. Generally, most of these restaurants have catered well for vegetarians so I've just opted for that. However, Lahore Karahi disappointed me. It's more of a fast-food diner than restaurant. And that isn't just a reflection of their tacky decor but also the greasy fast food that is ready in minutes. And their menu has little to offer vegetarians other than chips, which are actually thin, greasy fries. Don't expect comfortable seating. The chairs are plastic and tables have seen better days. Although the restaurant seems to be doing well considering its open all hours (or at least whenever I've passed!) and it's usually bustling with diners. However this could be because they're open till late and offer cheap, fast food. I went once but won't be going again.

For great value and fantastic quality Pakistani cuisine, it doesn't get much better than this…read more Located on the border of Moseley and Balsall Heath, Lahore is a spacious, modestly decorated restaurant and takeaway offering a wide range of both meat and vegetarian dishes of varying hotness. The absolute best thing about Lahore is that it offers an 'all you can eat' deal for a little over £7 that incorporates all the main dishes plus sundries and naan bread. Drinks are extra, and I can personally recommend the mango lassi as a perfect palate-cooler after you've enjoyed some of the spicy treats on offer. Strongly recommended, it's definitely worth the trip. The only downside is that it can be a little tricky to find somewhere to park. If you can walk it, do so.
