The sales rep came to my door on 2/12/26 and explained that they are not asking me to purchase anything from them. I was told (to my understanding) that this was a free program where they go around and ask if utility company charged more than $1.29/therm, and if they did, that SFE would help me get it back. It was not till I checked my email a few days later just to discover that I had signed up "purchase agreement". I immediately called to canceled my agreement with them on 2/15/26 and was told that cancellation process was completed. However, I just looked at my PG&E bill and it shows SFE charges from 2/27 - 3/30/26. WTF!? I will be calling tomorrow to address this issue and I will NOT be nice on the phone! I hope someone from SFE energy is reading this and know that you're working for a scam company. read more

SFE Pacific, gas and electric Scam SFE offered to lower your rate from $2.63 to $1.19 per therm, but didn't explain the full picture: Seemed like a good deal -- until I read the contract. A rep came to my door and said PG&E was charging me $2.63 per therm, but that they could offer a flat rate of $1.19 per therm. That definitely caught my attention -- it sounded like a big drop. He was upfront that he couldn't promise savings, just a fixed lower rate. So I agreed to sign -- but then I read the fine print. Here's what I found out: * The $1.19 per therm was just for the gas supply. PG&E still bills separately for delivery, transmission, and fees, so this wasn't a full replacement -- just a partial one. * There was a $6.98 monthly customer fee from SFE, which wasn't explained during the pitch. * The contract locked me in for 5 years, with a $7.50/month cancellation fee if I changed my mind after the first 30 days. * That adds up to $450 just to cancel if you're unhappy. So while the $1.19 per therm sounded like a big improvement over $2.63, the total cost after delivery and fees wouldn't have saved much -- and may have cost more in some months. I canceled immediately after reading the contract. Bottom line: They weren't dishonest, but they weren't transparent either. They state you have 30 days to cancel and PGE did not send them the information and I still have to pay a cancellation fee of $217.50 because they won't take accountability for their business partners. A rep came to my door and asked to speak with the account holder because she was working at the direction of a local gas company to correct ongoing billing issues. I was told it was mandatory for all local gas customers. The lady stated she needed to look at my bill to verify my account and that the number usage was accurate. I told her I do not want to lose PG&E and that I want to stay with PG&E only. I got my bill today 12/04/2024 and its 490.52 my bill should only be 73.88. All I want is to cancel then and get the 400.00 cancellation fee removed since I never wanted their services or a 3rd party on my bill in the first place let alone any other gas company. This company is a scam using door-to-door salespeople. The tricky part is they claim to either be affiliated with PG&E or the California government as a sort of watchdog. For me, they asked me what my gas bill was and claimed they could lock it in at $1.19/therm. Their goal is to get you into signing a new energy contract without you knowing. As a retired organizational psychologist and international management consultant with 30 yrs experience, I have an opinion about this company based on contact with several employees. The door knock sales person took me through the customer acquisition process, step by step, on my smart phone. They identified my annual therm usage to be approx'ly 720 therms, but they signed me up for the standard 400 therm contract. I downloaded and printed the contract which clearly states what the overage charges will be for annual usage beyond the 400 therms. Before I downloaded the original contract I called the customer service number, talked to Sayed, who suggested a 600 therm contract for a flat rate of approx'ly $41.20/month. He explained there would likely be a small overage charge if I sustained the 700+ therm annual usage. After downloading the 400 therm contract, I looked the company up on google. Their website looks fine, BUT none of the links for detail worked on 8/15/2025. I noted on the contract that since I'm older than 64 years, I have 5 rather than 3 days to cancel the contract in the first few days after signing, RATHER THAN waiting until the first bill is received and having ONLY 30 days to cancel after that, or I would have to pay $7.50/month for the total amt of months remaining on the contract should I wish to cancel more than 30- days after receipt of first bill. MY ASSESSMENT of this company, is their sales organization, LIKE MANY SALES ORGANIZATIONS, is driven by numbers rather than integrity and customer care. Their pitch sounded good to me. Providing an alternative to PGE could be a good move. But customers do not understand the terms of the contract, because the sales people aren't giving them all the details. The customer service people I talked to seemed legitimate and not especially sales oriented. I think whoever is incharge of sales/marketing is not doing a good professional job, considering the website links for further detail that don't work and my experience of a knowledgeable sales guy recognizing my 720 therms annually would greatly exceed the 400 therm contract he had me sign and thereby cost MUCH more. I wouldn't write this company off completely. They might get their act together, tighten up sales training to ensure newbie potential customers CLEARLY understand contract terms, overage costs, and that they have 3-5 days to cancel after signing up, according to the California contract, and don't have to wait until the first bill. If you're older than 64 in California, you have 5 days to cancel after signing up and don't have to wait until the first bill. ALSO, ALWAYS READ THE CONTRACT !!! TL;DR - Scam. Avoid. Nobody hires people to do door-to-door canvassing in order to help you save money. If you've ever seen the movie The Boiler Room, this company is like the energy sector equivalent of JT Marlin. For context, the movie is about a young kid who gets caught up working in a fake stock brokerage. The brokerage name, JT Marlin, is intended to sound like JP Morgan in order to help brokers hustle their victims along with high pressure phone sales tactics. The purpose is to get people to invest money in companies that ultimately go belly up because, surprise, they're fake. The money that the brokers make is by commission from every investment they scam out of their clients. By comparison, these folks at SFE are preying upon people that they can similarly trick into signing contracts to receive energy through SFE which will end up costing more than you're paying now. Looking at other reviewers' stories it seems like a lot of these are young folks who will not hesitate to flat out lie (i.e. "Sign this petition", "we work FOR your current energy provider") or falsely threaten that participation is mandatory in order to get people to sign their contracts and switch their services over. Cancelling has its own annoying timeline and additional fees. The number of contracts that they get signed likely earns them a commission, and they are probably encouraged by their superiors to use whatever means necessary short of physical violence to get a signature. If this is anything like every other door-to-door pyramid scheme, these guys are likely grinding it out on the fantasy of some day recruiting people from their own crappy office front just as they were recruited. Unfortunately for them, the company will likely have folded (or re-branded) with the higher-ups disappearing off into the sunset well before that happens. Beware. read more

The woman that came out to my house to sell me this service said i had 30 days to cancel, which is useless when you don't get your first bill until after 90 days from signing up. I was sold on the fact that she said it would drop by gas bill by 40-60 dollars... only to find out it would constantly be raising my bill by $40. My family can not afford to have to pay even more as most can not. Then when i tried to cancel the service i was told there was nothing they could do unless i paid a $400 opt out fee.... I look at the reviews and almost all of them are bad. The same as mine. When the representative came to my door the explanation of service/pricing was elusive at best. All sounded good. They showed me their chart with costs as compared with the same usage I've had in the past. In looking at my current bill their price was twice as high as what I had been paying. I called and they informed I had exceeded the usage in the plan that I had signed up for. The same that was explained to me to be what I had been using for the last 5 years! Then when I requested a cancellation they told me that I hadn't met my contract duration and I would have to pay a cancellation fee of $380. I was promised no contract, no hidden fees, no early cancelation fee, and 50$ credit towards my electric bill after 6 months of on time payments and I would get a 50$ credit every month for 1 year, ONLY IF I signed up that very day with the rep at the door. (There is so much more that I would love to put in this review but it would be a book by the end) But never got anything I was promised, and my bill went from $30-$50 in the summer and $40-$70 in the winter to $120-$230 in the summer and $150-$250 in the winter. Then I called after having them for 1 1/2 years and was forced to pay a early cancellation fee of $220, and the shut off wouldn't go in affect right away, it would be 1-2 more months then it would be Ohio Edison, since having Ohio Edison our bills have been consistently $30-$45 AT MOST in the summer AND winter. Got tricked by these dudes the other day. Real snake stuff. I'm still not entirely sure what they do but I was told they work with my electric provider. They do not. If your reading this I assume either you came to you senses before signing anything or they got you. So depending on your local laws you will have a short amount of time to cancel without any payment and cancel fee. It was THREE DAYS for me so make sure you know how much time you have. Call them. Its was about a 40 minute wait for a representative to answer. Once you get someone on the line it should be easy from there. Just tell them you want to cancel and get a cancellation number.
