The VW bus Lillie is a fully restored gem. The tour was a great mix of history, pop culture and humor all told by a life long local. Highly recommend and would even do it again!!!

It's not your typical tour--you're not stuck behind glass or packed into a big group. The city is right there around you, and everything feels more alive; almost cinematic. The whole experience was super easygoing and fun! We covered a lot without it ever feeling rushed, and there were plenty of chances to stop, take photos, and just enjoy where we were. Some of our favorite moments were actually the unexpected spots we never would've found on our own, like the beautiful, yet uncrowded overlook on Telegraph Hill. Everything felt really natural--nothing scripted or forced. Just a great mix of interesting stories, local insight, and a lot of laughs along the way. Chad made the tour phenomenal. He brought brought great energy and enthusiasm to the experience, which made it even more enjoyable without ever feeling over the top. And the bus itself is half the experience! It's such a vibe--people smiling, waving, even taking pictures as you drive by. It adds this extra layer of fun you just don't get anywhere else. By the end, it felt like we experienced San Francisco in a way you can't do anywhere else. So if you're even thinking about it, just book it. Totally worth it!! -Mark & Gina, Kansas, USA.

We loved the tour, the breweries and the driver/tour guide Mindy. Very friendly and knowledgable about the places she takes you on the tour. But best of all my husband wanted me to mention there is NO HIGH PRESSURE SALES like you would experience on a wine tour. The tastings at each stop served by friendly people and questions were answered on the spot. The lunch we had was really good food and there was a good selection to choose from on the menu you are presented when you board the tour bus. All in all, it was fabulous, relaxing, met a lot of great people on the public tour with us and a good way to enjoy beer tasting without the driving. GREAT JOB MINDY!

They were extremely knowledgeable and gave us info about breweries that weren't even on our tour. We started our trip off at ThirstyBear which had amazing food. The stout is on a nitro tap so it made it extra wonderful. Second stop was Southern Pacific and it was absolutely gorgeous. The open air feel made day drinking on a Friday an even better decision. Last stop was Speakeasy where we had 4 samples and played Cards Against Humanity. There were 4 people in my group and another couple who joined us. The gentleman in the couple said "this is the best day of my life." So yes, I'd recommend this trip to everyone.

My boyfriend and I have gone on 2 of the 3 tours offered by SF on Tap. Safe to say, we're big fans!…read moreThis review is for Haight and Fisherman's Wharf tours. Last year, we signed up for our first combo tour: Alcatraz + Haight walking tour. Due to the 2018 fires, our SF trip was severely affected, including the cancellation of the Alcatraz portion. The walking tour was still made available at our own risk given the horrible air quality, but SF on Tap staff were very flexible, refunded our Alcatraz portion, and still conducted a great walking tour led by Lina. The history we learned, the beer knowledge, and the breweries we visited was fantastic. By the end of the tour, our little group was happy, tipsy, and chatty. It was a great first experience! So this year, we went back to San Francisco and did the Alcatraz + Fisherman's Wharf walking tour. Weather was fantastic this time, and the process for getting our tickets plus the actual day of activites was seamless. Prepare for a long day of walking if you do the combo tour. Dress comfortably and wear very comfy shoes. We did the Alcatraz audio tour, which helps you cover the main portions of the site, but there is definitely more to explore, so don't anticipate being able to do it all when you have to be back on shore with time to spare for lunch plus arriving for the 2pm beer tour. So....plan your morning accordingly. After Alcatraz, we had lunch at Boudin at Pier 39 then took a 5min Lyft ride to Ghirardelli Square for the start of our Fisherman's Wharf beer tour. Our guide was Dylan. Dylan did a great job and took us on quite an adventure through Fisherman's Wharf and Little Italy area. Although the beers on this particular tour were not my favorite (except for the barley wine and sour at the end!), I appreciated deepening my knowledge of the neighborhood and of course....brewing! I also love the intimate nature of the tour, like when we get to the breweries / pubs, and there is already dedicated space for us to sit, enjoy, learn, and drink! Dylan did his best to personalize our beer options to our tastes, so that was much appreciated. At the end of the tour, Dylan provided some fantastic dinner recommendations, since the tours end by 6pm. Trust me, you will be hungry! Both Lina and Dylan provided us with memorable craft beer experiences. My boyfriend and I look forward to going 3 for 3 and doing the SoMA walking tour next year! We are true SF on Tap fans!! You won't regret booking with SF on Tap, especially if you want a personalized craft beer experience and want to learn about the city's rich history and the details of brewing.

Customer service over the phone was great, the tour was awesome and we learned new things about San Francisco that we had never learned before. The views were STUNNING and the open air car was awesome. Bring a jacket, the day was perfect sunshine which is unheard of for San Francisco this time of year and I was still frozen at the end of our ride. There were just a few things that kept this from being a 5 star experience: Car condition: the breaks on this e-car literally SCREAMED each time we stopped. The car stopped with no issue, but it totally freaked us out - especially on some of the steep hills. Otherwise the car was in excellent condition and we only depleted maybe 10% of the battery in our 3 hour tour. Front desk staff: check in and out was easy enough, but the front desk staff were realllllllly indifferent. They also talked like auctioneers, crazy fast. They showed all of the folks in the office this map route and talked at the speed of light. Now, we knew about 40% of the stops we would take and still got confused. How on earth are tourists supposed to understand this map direction situation. Seriously, the company would be better off instructing the front desk to say "your car will guide you through this map" than to try to have them explain where people are going. Or at least tell guests that "this seems like a lot, but you have a map in your car and the car will guide you, we are giving you this info so that you have some of the locations in your mind". Tour Guide/GPS: the GPS/Tour Guide storyline sounded like it was for the yellow car only. There were a few times that we were thinking, this can't be referring to our car. For example, there was one steep hill decent that we were going to go on and the GPS/Tour Guide said "I'm only designed to go 25 mph, so take care down this steep hill" we couldn't tell if we were only allowed to go 25 mph or if this cars speed was capped at 25 mph, but the website says that the top speed is 80 mph. Also, we were told that this car can go across the Golden Gate Bridge and the GPS said several times that it is not allowed to go on the bridge. Overall, we had a wonderful time, the GPS worked the entire time and we learned new facts about SF and saw new things that we hadn't noticed before. We also got MANY compliments on this car and almost every group that saw us said that they want to take this car out while on their trip. This was an awesome experience and we will bring family/friends here when they visit for amazing views of the city.

I was frustrated because I kept calling to see if there was anything I needed to do before getting to the place. They said no just come and we'll take your Groupon information. So we got there and it was torture to get signed in. It took us an hour for signing in! Finally, we get in the cars, my gps didn't work well. We went a mile and had to return that car. We got another car and went on our tour. My brother's car had a hard time going up the hill (right before Lombard Street) and it had very little power and it started smoking. We had to wait for them to get to Lombard street. We went down the crookedest street then quickly returned the cars. My brother was afraid that he and my sister in law would stall or that the car would catch on fire. We ended our tour 1 hour early. Issues are the cars look used up and not well maintained. They need more workers at the front desk and car pickup area. Cars should be checked prior to customers coming to ensure they're going to work well. I think this is a GREAT idea and very fun. I was able to see more of SF because of this amazing self guided tour. The reason I didn't rate my experience as a 5 star is the wait time checking in and the car issues.
