We have been with this club since our daughter was young and the kids get developed into great, competitive players.

We are in San Francisco a lot and tend to spend a good amount of time at Golden gate Park . There's…read moreso much to see and do there . On our last visit, we happened to need the restroom and pulled in The soccer fields to use them. This location is by far the cleanest public bathroom I've ever been into in San Francisco. There is also plenty of parking in the lot and although we came on a day that was drizzling, there were still people out using the fields. We actually ended up staying here for 20 or 30 minutes because there is a nice view of the windmill and the fields are very well taken care of. It's just another lovely little underrated spot in the park and as I looked out onto the fields to watch the people practicing, I can only imagine how amazing this location is for for official events and local leagues. It's great to be able to visit a city that truly cares about its residents and always be able to find new and amazing things no matter how many times you've been here.

Has many of these back to back. You can come and watch a game or even several. Even though these are mostly the soccer fields, other sports can be played here. It's also good for lacrosse. These sports each have similar fields, just having to change the nets. Cool area to look around and hang out after a game. The fields are located between the two old windmills. Also close to the ocean so after a game go to the beach. The Chalet has a restaurant with mostly seafood if you get hungry. Happens to be among many places in the park to play athletics. It's located in a pretty nice area of the park. This is also close to the old famous windmills.

He's had a speech delay and has had his academic struggles, so he's always had an aversion to team sports, and has even voiced that he's felt "different." We've tried to put him into other baseball and soccer when he was 4-5 years old, but he was never drawn to them. He instead preferred solo sports activities like swimming and martial arts, namely because he could progress at his own pace, without the added pressure of competition. Through a friend we met Coach Marty and it's been a blessing ever since! He has a way of easing kids into the basics of the sport, even if they've never played before and if they are shy and introverted. He's made it a fun and stress free experience and now my son LOVES the game. My son has been training with Coach Marty for about 6 months, and he went from being scared to even kick a ball with other kids around him, to running and passing the ball, shooting goals and avidly seeks to improve his game. He looks forward to every practice and cheers on his team mates. It's not just the exercise and basic soccer skills that he's taken away from this program thus far, but rather the build up of confidence, the sense of teamwork, and the enthusiasm for healthy exercise that he'll be able to use for the rest of his life. If you've got a kid that feels "different" or is shy, I'd definitely check First Step Soccer out. He or she is bound to learn more than just the game, and that's the real reward.

This review is more or less 3 and a half stars. I come here for a corporate soccer league on…read moreWednesdays, and the refs are pretty decent calling the games. My gripes are really towards the field conditions. I understand that the fields will be turf because it'd be a huge expense to have to constantly seed and water and cut grass. The field conditions are just really bad. I'm the goalie for my team, and there are so many random dips and holes in the penalty area on both fields. Even when I go to do a pitch inspection before the games, I check the dips, and I'm still caught by surprise by how low the dips are. Then, when you talk about the outfield, there are too many dips and holes. My coworkers have gotten injured way too often from unsafe playing conditions. From twisted ankles and sprained calves, it's way too much. Management really needs to invest in resurfacing the fields.

The online reservation process was a breeze and they were very accommodating with our dates. One suggestion for improvement: The arm guards for archery could really use an upgrade. It'd make the game a lot more fun if we didn't have to worry about getting bruises on the forearm. Tips for Yelpers who are considering booking: 1. Do not eat before the game (it's very tempting as the location is right next to a food truck park). 2. Consider bringing your own arm guards. 3. Do stretch before and after the game, you'd thank yourself the next day. 4. Enjoy!

They learn things like stop, go, wait your turn, and following direction. They learn how to work in a group, and also to work independently, or with partners. They learn to run, kick the ball, but do other things like kick the cones, run around the cones, etc. The activities from week to week change, nothing's really ever the same. She's not learning soccer moves or how to play soccer, per se, but rather just developmental things that are fun and important for kids and their learning. The classes are setup by age level. I will say that my daughter is one of the younger ones in the class, and I do find it harder for her to follow direction compared to the other older kids. There are no makeup classes which is the only bummer, except when it gets rained out. Oh well. I love the little soccer shirt they provide on the first day of class with their name on it, and you can also upgrade to get soccer shorts and socks (so cute) for an extra $20. The locations are spread out across the city, but I love that the one I go to is within 5-6 min drive of me, and the parking at Golden Gate Park is very plentiful at Mother's Meadow each week I go! The coaches, Brian and Jesse, are wonderful, so passionate. They're so amazing with all of the kids, they're very patient, kind, and also help with redirection. They're very enthusiastic, and have lots of energy. What else could you want from a soccer coach?! They also can remember your child's name from week to week, they have great memory! I would highly recommend SF Tots to your child to get them out of the house and learn new things with this fun and engaging soccer class.
