Bought a serger from this store in 1992. I used the machine a lot for the first several years. Not so much in the near past. Decided I was going to get back into the hobby. Serger giving me fits...didn't want to sew correctly, I couldn't seem to get it threaded properly. I took it in and the owner went over stuff with me, helped me get more comfortable with the machine. This was 30+ years after original purchase. I don't see how you could expect better service. read more

I took my second-hand sewing machine to The Sewing Machine Center for repairs and then later when I tried to use it, because of my lack of knowledge, it needed an adjustment. I took it in, and they taught me what I needed to know, and then made the adjustments. I felt like they cared about me and my project. It was nice to get such sincere customer service! I took the machine home, and it works perfectly. read more

Giving a shoutout to the great folks at the sewing center who took time out of their day to help me fix an embroidery mess! Without them, there is a baseball team that would not look nearly as awesome as they do. I just want to say times have changed, and we have a larger variety of items in the store. I know that no one leaves the Sewing Machine Center without a smile on there face anymore. I know that the customer service is great, and the employees always give there best effort to make the customers happy. I took my brother sewing machine to the Sewing Machine Center on Phoenix Ave to have one thing repaired and when I brought it home it had 3 things wrong with it. I do not recommend them for sewing machine repair. They did not take ownership for the damages they did to my sewing machine. It would be a good idea to video your machine working before you take it to them for repair if you do decide to use them. read more

This store has terrible customer service. I brought my sewing machine and serger in for routine maintenance. When it was finished they called to let me know it was done but was told that the serger was missing a foot and they looked everywhere but couldn't find it. I was pretty sure it wasn't missing when I dropped it off but not positive so I asked them to replace it and gave them my credit card # over the phone. When I picked the machine up the foot still hadn't been replaced. I was told they had to order it and they would send it in the mail since I lived 90 min away. 3 months later and several phone calls I finally received the foot only to find the nut to hold the foot on was missing. The envelope they sent it in was badly damaged so I figured it fell out. I called and talked to the repair man. He told me no problem they would send me a new one ASAP. Five minutes later the owner called me and rudely informed me the nut doesn't come with the foot and it would cost me $16!! I told her how I had waited 3 months for the foot, called several times, and how the envelope was badly damaged. She told me the foot has been hanging on the board for 3 months and told me I was lying about calling and wanted to know all the names of the workers I talked to during that time. Of coarse, I hadn't thought it was going to turn into such an issue and never thought of writing down names!! I asked her if there was anyway she cld sell the nut to me any cheaper for all the fuss. She said no and that she was going to have to charge me for extra priority shipping in a box so it wouldn't get damaged again. I asked her if this is how she treats all her customers. She told me everyone is treated the same. I told her I was very disappointed in her customer service and would find somewhere else to take my machine next time. I asked her if a $0.30 nut was really worth loosing a customer over. She told me again this is how she treats all her customers. So very disappointed. read more

So. Over the last month or so I discovered this AWESOME place! I was really looking forward to developing a relationship here. I had shared this place in a 20,000 member sewing group I'm in because there was some hard to find highly coveted fabric here. Someone from my group bought it all. Every time I went in the workers welcomed me and gushed over my bags and my little girls. I felt very welcome and excited to do business here! Until today. Today was the WORST experience I have ever had here or at any retail/service place. A week ago I signed up for a event. I was told at the time I signed up that if something fell through I could get my money back any time. I found out yesterday my parents were coming from out of town the weekend of the class. I went in today to cancel and get my money back, buy some supplies, and ask about getting a vintage machine serviced. The lady I talked to was VERY rude. I was so disturbed by her behavior I failed to get her name. I explained my reason for canceling and asked for a refund. She not once smiled or acted friendly. She looked me up and then told me I could get an in store credit. I explained that that wasn't what I was told, but I was willing to go with it. Until she felt the need to REALLY point out how much me canceling was screwing her place of business. I just said "OK, but that's not what I was told" She demanded the name of the person who told me that (I don't remember) and yanked the money out of the drawer, shoved it in my hand and told me she would just take it out of the employees paycheck. Very unprofessional. Very rude. And I will not be a returning customer. read more

My wife's Brother ULT2002D started jamming on occasion so figured it needed cleaned so she took it to the Sewing Machine Center across from St. Edwards and in two days and $125.00 later had it back cleaned /tension adjusted and a new bobbin. However once she got it home and started to resume her project she noticed the threader no longer worked although it worked fine before taking it to them, apparently this was an omen because less than an hour later it again jammed and after inspecting her stitching found that the new bobbin was not working at all and to top that off now the needle mechanism would only engage on one or two stitches. The next day I took it back to them and they were very apologetic and seemingly genuinely concerned, having felt that maybe their first repair had been done in haste I suggested they take their time and do it right as there was no hurry so they kept it for a little over a week then called to say that the machines condition had become terminal and would cost more to fix than it was worth, they would however allow her a modest trade in allowance if she purchase a new one from them. As generous as this offer seemed I suggested she get a second opinion so she took it the Central Sewing Center which is a Brother dealer where they cleaned & adjusted it "Again" and ordered the correct bobbin and charged a total of $126.10 and three months later it is sewing just fine, they even fixed the threader. I don't know if this was an honest mistake on their part or just business as usual to charge someone $125.00 for faulty work and then try to cheat them out of a perfectly good machine so they can make even more of a profit. Instead of arguing the matter we chalked this up to purchasing $125.00 of experience which is a pretty expensive lesson but at least we now know who "Not" to take it too next time we need service. read more
