My litigation has now been ongoing for over two years, and since my representation by Jonathan Marks, I have consulted with multiple highly respected attorneys in Missouri regarding the events that occurred during my case really before it even started. The consistent concern I have heard is not simply about the outcome, but about the process, the lack of preparation, the lack of communication, and decisions that I believe were made without my informed consent. I hired an attorney to protect me during one of the most financially and personally catastrophic periods of my life. My companies were under attack, my financial world was unraveling, and I was navigating an extremely complex divorce and business matter involving significant assets and consequences. Despite the seriousness and complexity of the situation, critical decisions were made before a full financial record had even been developed before the court and before substantive divorce proceedings had truly begun. A temporary arrangement was entered that, in my view, mirrored major settlement terms and impacted significant rights and claims without the level of analysis, preparation, and consultation I expected from my counsel and in a hearing that it belonged. What remains most disturbing to me is how those decisions were reached. Negotiations and conversations occurred outside my presence and without my express authorization. My civil attorney, who was present and actively involved in related matters, was not brought into those discussions once. When I expressed that I wanted to address my concerns directly before the judge rather than simply accept what was being presented because. everything changed, I did not feel my position was advocated for. in fact I was yelled at while my entire life was on fire. Instead of receiving guidance and protection during a moment of extreme fear and distress, I felt pressured, unheard, and overwhelmed and expressed so. I was facing the potential loss of millions of dollars and years of work that I had built, and I needed an attorney who would fully explain my options, and aggressively protect my interests. No attorney can guarantee a perfect result. That is not my criticism. My criticism is that a client should never leave a critical proceeding feeling they did not understand the consequences of what they were agreeing to or that their own concerns were dismissed. He was fired shortly after I should have ran not walked away from this horrific attorney. The consequences of those decisions have been enormous. I continue to document what I believe exceeds seven figures in financial and business-related damages connected to this period of litigation. The professional, financial, and personal impact has been profound, and years later I am still uncovering and working to repair the damage and my case is not done due to this very event. Based on my experience, I would never retain Jonathan Marks again. If you are considering hiring him, I strongly encourage you to ask difficult questions, demand complete transparency, ensure all significant decisions are thoroughly explained, and make sure your own voice remains central in every major decision affecting your future. We contacted Mr. Nolan, he was out of the office but returned our call on a Sunday and we set an appointment. This was very impressive. We met at his fancy office to begin the process. MISTAKE on our part! We paid him $900 up front for simple wills and POA's. In about one week he emailed us the drafts of the documents. OMG! These documents were deplorable. EVERY DOCUMENT (6 in total-3 for husband & 3-for wife) was filled with typos. One document was so grossly incorrect that a 12 year old would of caught it. Example: In one of the POA's it literally stated I, JANE DOE appoint my husband, JANE DOE as my Attorney In Fact. My wife has worked for 2 attorneys as a legal assistant for many years. If she would have given her boss documents with THESE critical errors, she would have been fired on the spot. If she would have forwarded these drafted documents to a client, she would have been blackballed from ever working in the legal field, again. We immediately called to make an appointment to meet with Mr. Nolan who, to our dismay, asked if there were errors and he would correct them if we pointed them out. WHAT??? We told him we would meet with him in person. He was hesitant but did so. We met a day or so afterwards and he hadn't corrected ANY errors. After I pointed them out we set a date for signing said documents. Yesterday we signed the wills and POA's and were shocked that he still had 2 documents with typos. UNBELIEVEABLE!!! Of course we were never offered any $$ in return for the time it took to point out the errors or the additional unnecessary visit to his office. So, my advise (from a former legal assistant) DO NOT pay the total amount of the fee to this attorney until you see the drafted documents. If we could give a negative star to this attorney, we certainly would! When planning simple wills and POA's, errors as egregious as these are UNEXCEPTABLE! Shame on you Mr. Nolan!

We hired Jason Korner when we were finally given the notice that he had a warrant. The original complaint was made in march of 2020 but for some reason still unknown the city of saint louis didn't really make it a point to try to come get my boyfriend even though they knew from march of 2020 his name where he lived, his phone number, where he worked Anyway we hired Jason that November and we felt really good about having him as our attorney. If we only had known the road that lie ahead. Mr. Korner was given the results of the rape kit exam that took place 03/09/2020. The test was a negative for my boyfriends DNA. This only really could mean that although the presence of male DNA was in this biological screening it was a negative to my boyfriend's Mr. KORNER WAITED UNTIL 3 DAYS BEFORE THE FIRST TRIAL TO DO A SINGLE BIT OF WORK ON MY BOYFRIENDS CASE. He ended up contacting the witness we really didn't want and not ever making contact with our witness that had already turned over to him a signed notarized affidavit. He also failed to do a deposition on Any witnesses my boyfriend which we will never really understand. All I do know is that the day of trial he came to my boyfriend under the most deceptive of circumstances acting as though signing over the consensual sex stipulation was just protocol when in fact it was the very thing the prosecution needed to proceed with this case. Why would a defense attorney help the prosecutor..seems like something is not making sense Why would he decide to keep the rape kit results a secret and blow off the results as if they were not relevant The trial ended in 8 to 4 split with the jury. 8 not guilty 4 didn't understand what reasonable doubt was - which technically is not guilty. Because its either guilty or not guilty and at the end of the trial they were not willing to say guilty so wasn't that the end of this nightmare? Well there were a lot of strange things that went on that first trial Mr. Korner allowed the jury to have the sister in law of the prosecutor as one of its jurors and he allowed the prosecutor to walk off with our witness before she got on the stand He literally was writing down question's for the alledged victim as her testimony was given to the prosecutor. Talk about totally unprepaired. So trial number 2 was scheduled for march 2024 and reminiscent to the first trial Mr Korner acted as though this would be a Cake walk but a few days before trial he has us back in his office and once again he has done nothing to prepare for this case. He never made any attempt to find our witnesses and never sent a subpoena to anyone and when it came time to ask the judge for the first time ever in this case he slit my boyfriends threat and acted as if he had been trying all this time to get ahold of witnesses which is a ball face lie because for sure he never ever did. Anything that was investigated in this case was done so by myself but I had limits under the law on what I could investigate because I didn't want to get hit with witness tampering. So come trial day Mr Korner gives a weak ass and blame shifting request to continue to later time in order to get in touch with our witness Mr. KORNER HAD full knowledge of since Dec 2022. We were denied that continuance due to having waited to the very last minute but we had been asking him to file a continuance for 2 months so why would he not do it? Good question So at the end of it all my boyfriend is a registered sex offender for the next 10 years. He is forced to sit every week with men who talk about having sex with little innocent children and has been subjected to questionnaires about when was the last time he thought about having sex with his mother and when the last time he fantasized about having sex with a dead body . My boyfriend was looking at ten years for a crime where literally and I mean literally the only evidence in this case was the testimony of a woman who never kept one detail of her recollection of this alleged assault straight. She told different stories every time she told it. There was not any witness cooperation of any kind not by the dna not by detectives investigation because there never was one. Not by anything but the word of one person And Jason Korner could not get a not guilty for an innocent man. Mr Korner failed to provide adequate legal counsel to my boyfriend.
