Hi residents of Missouri, I just called Marc Jacob, Esq office to discuss and possibly retain him for real estate matters I have as an investor in Missouri. The receptionist or the person that answered the phone asked me if I just want to ask him for free some questions or am I looking to hire him. I said both, I am having tenant issues in one of my SFH and I could use his consultation. She than told me that he is not taking on any new clients. Why did she ask me those questions in the first place if he is not taking on any new clients. It was her tone and she was unprofessional. I would never hire her to answer my phones! I regret I ever called Marc Jacob office. read more

Very fast and informative. Really gave me extra email conversations so I could understand everything, and affordable. Thanks!

Marc is a wonderful attorney and the reason we own our house. He is very detailed oriented and caring when it comes to his work. He helped work around our schedules and give us the time we needed with him. We will hopefully not need a real estate attorney again for awhile, but I would make sure to use Marc again immediately if we did. read more

We requested Marc's services recently with the purchase of our first home and were very satisfied. There were many things we thought we knew as we went through the home buying process, but you really don't until having an experienced real estate attorney providing you guidance. He was very thorough in his review of the contract and closing documents, able to clearly explain things we were signing in layman's terms, and very responsive to our questions (in particular by e-mail). We'll definitely use his services again for future real estate transactions. read more

We contacted Mr. Jacob to help us buy a lot in a residential development after first trying to do so on our own, unsuccessfully. The lot was one in a group that was bank-owned (after the original developer folded), had changed hands several times already, and was still changing hands as big bank fish gobbled up smaller ones, and as the properties were being sold and re-sold to different investors. We had never dealt with a lawyer before, and were pretty clueless. Mr. Jacob explained to us how it all worked. We agreed to hire him, put down a reasonable retainer, and he got to work. He used his contacts and resources to fill in the information gaps on the lots, and also to put us in contact with the current owner, who turned out to be uninterested in selling to us since they were already in the process of selling as a bundle to a real estate holding company. Mr. Jacob offered to either refund the remainder of the retainer (almost all of it, actually), or let things play out and try again. We opted for the latter, eventually engaging the new owner (once their purchase was complete). Mr. Jacob helped us negotiate a deal that exceeded what we originally hoped for. Throughout all of this, he was very responsive and kept us appraised of the latest developments with weekly status updates, also keeping fantastic records on his time spent and our retainer balance. I was impressed at how efficient he was with his time and how little he charged against the retainer. Late in the process, the county released information that the entire neighborhood was being re-classified by FEMA to be in a 100 year flood plain. We immediately wanted to back out. But Mr. Jacob informed us that our agreement to buy the lot could be held as legally binding even though it was only by email. He explained all of our risks and options, and did some research to find us our strongest angles/arguments. He also probed for some information and got the seller to reveal that they were in possession of that information (had been in discussions with the county about it) weeks before the county posted it all (including prelim maps) publicly. Ultimately, he helped us navigate our way out of the deal without getting sued for breach of contract. Highly recommended, this guy is a definite pro. read more

Marc stepped in and helped me with what was a difficult and deeply personal severance agreement. He was there for me above and beyond our business arrangement and because of his integrity and dedication, he is now my attorney of record. Because of this, I would highly recommend him. We found Marc through online reviews just like this one so thought we should leave our positive review to help others in making an informed decision. This was our first venture into owning a franchise business so to anyone who is about to go through the process of negotiating a commercial lease do not hesitate to contact Marc Jacob, throughout the lease negotiation process he along with his assistant Andrea made us feel confident we had a professional and knowledgeable team behind us, great communication coupled with knowledge and experience that was fully utilized on many occasions during the negotiation process left us secure in the knowledge we were well taken care of. To those on the fence about negotiating a lease yourself or hiring an attorney to do so, do not underestimate how difficult understanding and negotiating a lease can be and the potential financial implications, Marc was an unbelievable asset to have on our side and I advise you to get his team on board. We are in the process of buying our first home. My father suggested having a lawyer review the contract. I called Marc at the last minute, on a Friday. I was able to send him the document electronically and he called me that day to discuss the details. We were able to add an addendum to the contract to protect ourselves. I called many other lawyers in town, no one could help on such short notice. We are extremely grateful for his assistance and feel much more comfortable with the process. Thanks again! read more

We recently worked with a reputable agent and broker to sell our house. We had known this person very well and this person had helped us buy the same house few years ago. But after we received the offer on our house ( before the open house also), our agent became very nervous and would not allow us to negotiate at all and it seemed that our agent was not our side at all. It became a very tense situation - it seemed that the agents were creating more distrust between the sellers and buyers and we were being put in a fey risky situation with our situation being revealed to the buyers. We called Marc as a last option and he reviewed our transaction thoroughly and then represented our interests in the transaction. He really calmed us , reduced the stress levels and we were able to close on time as planned. He was very thorough and was able to give us all options along with a legal point of view. read more

Two partners and I were interested in opening a coffee shop. We hired Marc to help with registering an LLC and for general advice and assistance. We were underfunded from the beginning and maybe should have saved more money before starting the process to open the business. He helped us register our LLC and apply for a state loan, and he didn't help us with applying for a sales license. Before we found out if we were approved for the loan he sold us on hiring him to negotiate the real estate. We then find out we were not approved for the loan, which Marc had us assuming we were in a good position to get approval for the loan. Marc has charged us $4,250.00 up to this point. We determine that we can't get a loan and we do not have the money to open the shop. Marc said on June 6th he will refund $875 to make the total amount we paid him $3,375. It is now July 31, after reminding Marc our address and that he said he would refund $875, we have not received that refund. Marc is quite eager to accept your money, I'm having trouble getting any back from him, and maybe worst of all he is annoyingly litigious, he continuously reminded us the services he wouldn't do because they were not specified in the paperwork such as obtaining a sales license. He could have helped us more, he could have suggested that we save more money before applying for the business loan, he could have refunded our money more promptly. read more
