When I finally found "the one" it was at the absolute top of my budget and still needed number of alterations to make it my dream dress. Ling story short I was able to find the dress for much less than at the store but between the original size of the gown and losing more weight for the wedding than I originally planned, I ended up with a dress that was easily 4 sizes too big and still needed work to to change some of the dress to the ideal state.
