I came away impressed: A great shop near central Cambridge. I arrived looking for a knitting needle that I neglected to bring with me from the US. Seeing the front window filled with sewing machines, I worried that the focus was too much on sewing to have much for knitters -- but I was dead wrong. Most of the back room was devoted to yarn, needles and other knitting notions and patterns. None of the expensive high-end brands (Madelinetosh, etc.) and a lot of baby yarn and blends (not my thing) but loads of solid yarn choices, including a whole case filled with Opal and Trekking sock yarn. And I was blown away to see SPINNING FIBER (roving); not many craft stores carry this! Helpful, friendly sales clerks. Expert advice, too: one of the two clerks was offering a customer some rather sophisticated advice about yarn substitutions for a pattern. I would be delighted to have a shop like this near my home. read more
