Fimally,I took it to The Furniture Hospital who said repairing it wouldn't be a problem. A WEEK later I got a call that it was finished. I picked it up and you could hardly tell it had ever been broken. And it only cost $100 + tax. What's more,the chair is sturdy enough for normal use,not just to look at. I don't generally post pics or extensive reviews but this one I couldn't pass up. The table needed a lot of work . I thought it was oak but John told me it was sun bleached and that it was walnut . John also gave me some insight as to the age of the table and what it would look like refinished . I know it was in good hands . John called and it was ready for pick up in less than two weeks! I walked in, saw the table and was completely blown away ! The quality of workmanship and attention to detail is unmatched . Shocked was an understatement! Absolutely gorgeous! The Furniture Hospital isn't a fancy storefront and gallery . Don't expect a squeaky clean store when you walk in. Instead , it's a true working studio where John was in the middle of refinishing another piece when I came in . Beautiful furniture everywhere, waiting for its facelift and some TLC. Through an eBay seller, we purchased a reproduction Colonial Williamsburg Table [CW 65-66 W 2…read moreLeaves] that was manufactured by Kittinger decades ago. The table and leaves were in good, but not great shape, and the edge treatment ('distressed') was not our style. We contacted Kittinger and inquired as to their willingness to refinish the table and the leaves. They offered to do this work at a very reasonable price, so I rented a trailer and brought the pieces to them from Ohio. [Ray Bialkowski, the owner, met me on a holiday weekend and gave me a tour of the factory!!!] The work was completed within four weeks and the results were amazing! Every scratch and gouge was gone, the finish looked like it just came out of the factory brand new, and the responsiveness of the entire staff was all one could ask for.
