I received one of the Mets '62 heritage series hats which was a little small and came with a soft brim instead of the firmer brim I was familiar on New Era hats. Clyde responded to my email the very next day and explained that older versions of these hats had softer brims. He then located the next size up in the newer version with the firmer brim and waived the shipping to send it back out to me. I also picked up one of the NY Giants Heritage hats. These are 50% wool and 50% polyester and shrink up nicely after a bit of wear. I definitely prefer these to any of the 100% polyester on field hats from New Era. They are hands down, the best fitting hats I own. And Mickey's Place has, like, all of them. While I have historically ordered from the Hall of Fame store (which also has excellent customer service), the selection at Mickey's Place is excellent. I would definitely recommend shopping here! Looking forward to visiting in person this summer and snagging one of the Brooklyn Dodgers heritage caps.

She also help me make my decision by giving me a visual by putting what u wanted together to see how it looked.. she wasn't rushing me or anything and due to her kind help I ended up getting a necklace I believe my son will love.

Now I'm 31 and I want two of everything. Sure, they have all the stuff you'd expect to find in a Cooperstown gift shop: name/number t-shirts for current stars and Hall of Famers; New Era hats for all 30 teams, as well as vintage teams like the St. Louis Browns and Colts 45s; bumper stickers for the Yankees, Mets and Red Sox. But what makes this place special is the vintage souvenirs and fan gear. Remember puffy stickers? Remember 4-inch buttons with players' pictures on them? Remember batting helmet sundae and cereal bowls? Remember painter-style hats with MLB team logos? Remember ceramic bobbleheads? They're all here. And they're authentic. They don't sell replicas or reproductions of kitschy 70s and 80s fan collectibles. They sell originals, the same ones I was browsing over in 1989. One case contains mid-80s stickers for several MLB teams with a sign that says, "Ask about your favorite team!" I didn't see the Yankees, so I asked. "We've been sold out of them since the early 90s," replied the shopkeeper. "Once these are gone, they're gone forever. They don't make them anymore." In a strange way, I was more excited to hear that. Despite this, prices are fair and don't seem too far off from what they were in the 1980s. After you're done in the Hall, come here for a very different trip down memory lane. Even if you don't buy anything (doubtful) you'll leave with a smile on your face.

One day on my way to the hospital, I decided to try to clear my head and do some searching for an anniversary gift for my wife. She absolutely loves Jorge Posada. I looked at a couple of stores, but didn't find anything worth while. Then I walked into Paterno Brothers Sports. I looked on their one wall and I couldn't believe what I saw. They had a certified authentic, autographed baseball by Jorge Posada. So, I asked them to see it. I then asked if they had anything else autographed by him. They said yes. So, I was shown an autographed book. It was Jorge's autobiography. At first, when he said he had a book, I thought it was the one that he and his wife had written about their child with cranio. I only say that because I told the gentlemen my son's story of cranio, and how Jorge's and Mrs. Posada's book helped my wife with so much during that time. Not looking for a discount, the gentlemen then said he would give me a discount and to tell my wife that he hopes she has a great anniversary year. I was taken aback by his generosity. But it doesn't end there. When we went up to the counter, he asked where my wife and I live. I told him that I am stationed in Okinawa. He thanked me for my service (I still don't know how to properly respond to that except to thank a person back). He told me how to ring out on his IPad teller and said he would be right back. Now, at this point, I was only purchasing the autographed baseball. After I signed and was done emailing myself a receipt, he then presented me the autographed book with another thank you for my service. My jaw dropped! I couldn't believe the amount of generosity that this man had. It will forever stick with me. I even almost left my credit card. I want to thank the Paterno Brothers for making my stressful trip into one that I will remember for the rest of my life. Your generosity means so much that I can't thank you enough! Thank you and I will make sure that I return to your store for the rest of my life.

Watching the bats being made and my husband having the opportunity to dip a bat himself was super cool. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. Can not wait to go back again. We even had a bat engraved for us at their shop on Main St to commemorate our visit. Quality craftsmanship at a very fair price.
