Pro Tip: Visit to get a pic by their cool Lakewood mural inside the store…read more Walking into Burning River Coffee was a bit like stumbling into a local secret - a combo of smoke shop and coffee shop. The front is unassuming, and this combo isn't something you see every day, but somehow, it works... or at least, it's interesting enough to give it a shot. I visited the coffee shop side while working nearby (walking distance) at the co-working center (Icon Cowork). I ordered the red eye. Honestly? It delivered. It wired me for days. It was extremely strong and not well crafted (too much, definitely not barista made). But boy did it do its job. While at the coffee shop, I noticed a small menu of other drinks and no baked goods in the case. It just really had the basics. Service was very quick. The barista (who worked both sides of the house) was nice enough, but the vibe was more transactional than inviting. Not rude, just kind of indifferent. The space had enough tables to sit at and very quiet atmosphere. One thing I couldn't ignore was the scent of vape juice hanging in the air. It didn't bother me personally, but I can see how that could be a turn-off if you're expecting more of a traditional coffee shop aesthetic. Of note is that both sides of the business have the same entrance. They're working on dividing the space into two separate ones according to my quick chat with the employee. Currently the coffee shop has no age restrictions while the smoke shop is 21+. Overall? Burning River Coffee is quirky and good for a simple cup of coffee. It's not a textbook coffee shop experience -- it's its own thing. Just don't expect the usual indie-coffeehouse playlist and aesthetic. Expect something unexpected and different.

I asked the officer at the front desk and he stated that they had been having off hours and coming in as late as 8:30 but the last official time he was updated on them opening was 7 am. I could not wait until then since I had to be at work at 8. I tried to call and leave a voicemail for them to cancel my order so I can be reimbursed as they would be close by the time I would be free to speak to someone. I called both numbers I saw listed for them (440-429-1851 and 440-558-7555) and one of the numbers just kept disconnecting while the other one had a different message each time I called never giving me an opportunity to leave a voicemail. I tried reaching out by email as well as private messaging the official facebook and instagram page just to try to get an accurate contact number with no response. From everyone else's reviews they have lovely food and coffee which I unfortunately cannot comment on but I am disappointed at how difficult it is to reach someone just to try to fix what is a simple issue. I have no problem editing and fixing my review if someone is able to reach out to me as I am not one to leave negative reviews but have ran out of options to get this place attention

The chagaccino was on the sweeter side and I'm already planning my next time ordering that!! The collagen crush is a healthy pick, with 10g of protein, collagen peptides, and ashwaganda. It's a great option if you want something with benefits along with your caffeine. Can't wait to come back to try more!

UPDATED REVIEW (July 2026) -- When I first heard of Tone House, I honestly thought they were a…read morefitness studio and I got super excited, until I saw "Coffee" next to their name (LOL). Although I'm not a coffee drinker, I'll try any drink but I do stick with tea. I'm updating my initial Yelp review from 4 to 5 stars. Sometimes putting a face to a business changes your perspective. Originally, I rated them 4 stars because with only 1 outlet, those trying to work on a laptop will be inconvenienced. When I first visited in June 2026, I was lucky to snag the only outlet. A woman came in shortly after I did, needing an outlet as her laptop had to be charged. So, I told her to move the table she was using closer to mine so that she could use the outlet. Anyway, that is all about to change (read below). I luckily met the owners, a married couple, Chrissy and Mark (I believe his name is Mark?) and their baby on Saturday, 11 July 2026. I came in the morning to get my favourite drink, Masala Chai, which is sourced from a company called Dona in Brooklyn, New York (Dona Chai LLC, to be specific). I also found out that Tone House sells the liquid Masala Chai concentrate mix so I'll definitely be stopping in again to buy it. I like that the company Dona doesn't use any artificial flavours or preservatives in their chai mix. On July 11th, I spoke with sweet Chrissy (owner) who explained that Phase 2 of the coffee shop build-out is coming soon. I didn't get to chat with her husband but I did see him. They plan to add additional wall outlets and build-out a whole new seating area long the back wall where the TV monitors or projectors currently are located. This is an exciting plan and I can't wait to see this come to fruition. Honestly, I prefer to sit and read at coffee shops instead of being on a device (laptop) but my remote work life means that I am always on the go visiting different coffee shops. Thus, I will always need an outlet while working on my laptop. WHAT I LOVE -- I love that Tone House is a family owned business (local) and a family-friendly establishment. I see kids here often and I even noticed one young boy a few days ago playing chess with his Uncle but I'm not sure if the chess board comes with the coffee shop or if they brought it in themselves. I also love that Tone House collaborates with local businesses such as ENERGI, a new Pilates and fitness studio that is opening soon. I love Pilates, especially Reformer Pilates, so I can't wait to visit ENERGI. Tone House actually collaborated with ENERGI recently for a fitness class inside the coffee shop - I wasn't there but I heard about it. They pushed tables and chairs aside to create space for the workout. I think it may have actually been a yoga class. Stop on in and grab a drink or two. Maybe get a Dirty Chai (addition of espresso). You won't regret it. ALLEZ!! (Come on or Let's go in French)

It seems like a rip off to charge $8 for a sandwich and only give one egg. I was hungry an hour later. A bonus though is they use cage-free eggs. They couldn't make my latte because the machine was broke so they gave me a coffee and free hash browns. Coffee was decent but not my favorite. I walked here and this place is hard to find. You have to walk down Seltzer Way, an alley, to get to the front door. You can't drive up to it.

I have seen at least 6 people come and go here. Almost every few weeks I see a new person taking orders behind the counter. This will definitely affect the quality of the products being served. Today, there was a new girl behind the counter, by herself. She asked me what I ordered 3 times. I politely answered her question and reminded her that it's on the order ticket that prints right next to her. Then it took her 15 minutes to make it, after consulting other arriving employees. At least she was having a good time talking to her friends on the other side of the counter while I'm standing there waiting. This place is simply no longer worth the trouble or hassle. I won't be back after today and I recommend you don't either unless you have plenty of time to kill. I expect this place to close permanently at this rate.

I was envisioning a chill, slower-paced, comfy, lowkey bar or lounge to have conversations and interesting drinks after dinner with coworkers and friends. Nothing nearby fit the bill except this (genius idea!) place and it was absolutely perfect for the vibe and ambiance of what I was looking for! It was a relaxing, well lit, spacious but still intimate, tidy but still unique area to hang in. I ordered a make it yourself blend of a calming kratom, pineapple juice and raspberry flavor. It was fantastic and the S size in a mason jar was perfect. It tasted a bit like green tea mixed with botanicals and juice. My friend got the blue lotus drink with pineapple juice but it was kind of bland, earthy with only a tiny hint of sweetness. My other friend got a coffee...with lavender syrup because she's bonkers and also was too chicken to try kratom. It wasn't too loud but there was someone playing piano pretty badly (maybe on purpose) that surprisingly wasn't too distracting. We had a great time and I would definitely come back.

I added a little sweetener that they had available (I think raw sugar) and took my tea to go. I got to sample a little Kava and Kratom upon walking in because I had never tried them before. The employee explained what they were to me because I had never heard of them. They are supposed to help with anxiety, stress, and mood. Kava is a root and Kratom comes from the leaves of a specific tree so both are essentially plants. After sampling them, both tasted very bitter to me so I didn't like it which is fine (haha). The Kava had a dirt or grainy texture and the kratom had a lighter but more bitter flavour. The employee did mention to me that both would taste bitter and earthy. I did not order any drinks with them upon sampling them but they sell an assortment of drinks that include Kava and Kratom. Customer service was friendly. If you like Kava and Kratom or want to try it then come visit this Sacred Waters Kava bar in Lakewood. It's not my preference. The male employee working told me that they used to be affiliated with the other Kava bar in Cleveland (North Olmsted location, I think) but they are no longer affiliated with that location as the business partners stopped working together. **** GOAL of 150 reviews in 2024 - 69/150 total reviews in 2024 - 719 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 18 July 2024
