We spent 5 days on a Luna Class boat from here. We had a great time on our vacation but there are some issues.
First of all, everyone that we dealt with was super nice and very helpful. The man that did the safety talk about the boat and the tutorial was thorough and friendly. The man that boarded at the end of the trip to steer us in was friendly. The women that helped us off load were all terrific. We had no problems with the staff.
We had a lot of fun on the lake and rivers. There's a map in the boat that is very helpful and you can map out your trip and decide where you want to go. Mechanically, the houseboat ran very well and we had no problems with any of the systems. My husband is an experienced boater but he felt it was easy to drive and we felt safe at all times. The air conditioner and generator worked well.
There were parts of the boat that were in disrepair. Some lights didn't work, some lights didn't have covers. One toilet leaked. The horn on the boat didn't work. The fans in the rooms rattled loudly. Some doors didn't lock.
There is an attached slide. We felt it was unsafe. One of our teenagers went down it and it landed him right off the side of the boat - much too close for comfort. We didn't let anyone else go down it.
The beds are absolutely horrible. They are incredibly uncomfortable. You expect the rooms to be small, so that's okay. But, the beds are like sleeping on a board. The mattresses are thin - only a few inches and of very poor quality. The mattresses in the loft area (2 of them) are also thin and on the floor. Just mattresses - no bed. Of course, the loft areas are only about 4 feet tall - but still. There are 5 "beds" total. They are deemed as Queen size - but 3 of them are more doubles. The loft area mattresses are bigger. Also, the 3 beds that are in staterooms are extremely short. If you are more than 5'10" - these beds are too small for you.
There is not enough room for people to sit in the seating area. There's one couch for three people. Other people have to sit in dining room chairs - no big deal but seating is seriously lacking considering it's supposed to be for 10 people.
The website indicates that this boat has a Blu Ray. It does not! We spent $50 to rent Blu Ray movies for our trip to arrive and find out that it had a DVD player - NOT a Blu Ray. We complained at checkout and they said, "Oh, that's too bad..." Then they gave my husband two free glasses with their logo on them... Okay. (shrug)
Speaking of the website - it's a mess. There's so much conflicting information on it that we didn't know what to believe. It tells you that you can't be there before 3 pm. They close at 7 pm. We planned our travel time from Seattle to arrive between those times. They started calling us at 4:30 to say we were late. They said they were expecting us AT 3 pm. We arrived at 5:30 and all of the people that do the boater education - that you have to do before you can take the boat out - had gone home so we had to stay in the dock the first night. It was fine with us, we didn't care - it gave us time to get settled. But, I think other people would be upset about this miscommunication. There are so many things on the website that are just so unclear and that are contradicted on other parts of the website.
When we arrived back on our last day, they were in a mad rush to get us off the boat because people were waiting to get on - this was at 10:30 in the morning. Luckily, we were all ready with everything packed and ready to go - so just make sure you are ready to walk off the boat when you get back.
Anyway, we made the best of things and we had a great time despite the failures of the boat and miscommunications of the company. We will definitely houseboat again - but we probably won't return here. We felt the customer service is lacking. We felt, for the price we paid, the boat was not up to standards we would expect as far as comfort and amenities. read more
