I wouldn't rent "Sugar Baby". It needs lots of maintenance and TLC. There many little things that were irritating. Door shelves in the refrigerators (both) broken any weight and they fall off. Generator broken so there was a portable! LOUD! Couldn't run it for more than 1 hour. Battery system is terrible has to have the generator on. Air didn't work. Dripping water. Just a lot of things that were bothersome. Bring your own pillows. I think light sleeping bags would be a better option than sheets, most the beds are against a wall making it hard to put together. There wasn't any deck chairs. Bar stools were stupid the seat was has high as the bar or 2" lower not enough to get your legs under. No cushions around to sit on the deck. Ceiling ready in kitchen by the air conditioner ready to drop & leaking. Hot tub loud popping sound we were scare it was going to blow up. Propane smell. From a distance it looks awesome. Was at Kettle Falls marina to use the pump-out facility. The people at the marina said there is no charge (as it should be), but they deceive you. They don't provide you with any adapters in order to pump-out !! You must purchase one. No other marina on lake Roosevelt has this issue. No marina I have EVER been to has had this issue. read more

Let me start by saying that in all my "vacationing" I always dreamed of getting a house boat on Lake Roosevelt since I was a kid. We finally made it happen!!!! Unfortunately we rented from Kettle Falls. Vickie and Lori were very nice. The house boat itself was beautiful with a hot tub and well planned supplies. As a first time house boat renter I did not know the appropriate questions to ask; so there were many things that caught us by surprise and we kind of had to "wing" it. We had an issue with the run about that was rented. When it was launched the employee had a hard time getting it from the launch to the fuel dock. I was reassured that the run about was fine. 30 minutes later when my father arrived it didn't start. After 2.5 hours of messing around a new boat was given to my father due to a bad starter in the first boat. Because of the hang up we were unable to go down the lake to Roper Creek; we stayed beached directly across the lake from the Marina. Upon returning the boats, my father and I went to the office to speak with the owner of Kettle Falls Marina-and I would say THIS is where the problem began. After paying $270 early departure fee we were going to simply ask for a refund of the $270 since we were unable to actually head down the lake. The owner-very arrogantly and pompous-walked down the hallway of the office and said he didn't see a problem, we were given a new boat within 10 minutes (which was a complete lie) and accused us of not taking care of the run about. He also informed us "this is HOW I MAKE MY LIVING." The man hardly let us get a word out. The entire conversation escalated. I was very upset not only because we just paid $5000 for 3 days but also because he was so rude and disrespectful to my father. My dad is an amazing man who has ALWAYS left things nicer than when he received it. He is very knowledgeable about boats and WOULD NEVER treat their property badly. If the owner would have at all taken responsibility, apologized, acknowledged the inconvenience or acted as if he APPRECIATED our business this conversation would have ended there. Absolutely the most rude and incompetent business owners I have ever encountered. They were overwhelmed with checkouts and therefore completely igored us when we arrived. We waited hours for our boat because the starter was broken and rather than tell us they just left us sitting outside in the heat. There were multiple boats docked that They could have easily given us but They refused to do so. They were rude when we inquired about when our boat would be ready and When we told them we had dogs in the car they directed us to the water bowl outside. We will never ever be renting from these fools again. The entire experience is nothing short of unbelievable, as in Its unbelievable that people so stupid can run a business. This business is ran on safety pins and glue. We paid extra for the early departure, and almost 2 hours later we were underway. There departure and arrival system is chaotic to say the least. There was no one in the office for the first 45 minutes after we got there. When we finally got our boat (super cruiser with hot tub) we were informed that the hot tub was not functional. From looking at the condition, we didn't think it had been for quite some time, yet they still advertise these on line and charge a premium price. We heard later that hardly any of them actually work. The generator worked only sporadically and the one shower was actually unusable as the pressure was like someone spitting on you. My husband is thankfully mechanical enough that he had to use a temporary hookup instead of a switch to operate the bilge pump. The starting batteries for the boat engine and the generator start battery did not charge for some reason. Luckily we had our own runabout with us and jumper cables and he had to pull the battery out of it to jump start the houseboat so we could get underway. We made sure we were back at the Marina at 12:30 like they stress and two hours later they finally did the walk through. I think they are actually more concerned that you may have broken a coffee cup than if everything worked right. During our stay we heard other houseboats on the radio calling in for multiple service issues. Houseboat inside is very nice and comfortable. Mechanically leaves much to be desired.
