Not even in the Play for All Abilities Park were they working. Granted there's only two water stations on the whole trail, neither worked. Other than that it is a beautiful trail, a great distance, with many things to look at. It is nice to get lost in the trees as well. The day they connect the east trail to the west will be a miracle. The only amenities at this location are a few benches, a paved trail system and further inward you will find primitive trails and a dry creek crossing at Lake Creek. You can stick to the paved trails which run behind the local residents or veer off onto the primitive trails which take you into the woods. If you're looking for a quiet place to hike or bike, this would be a good starting point.

Being from Cali and…read morehaving moved to Texas about three years ago, we have high expectations for trails, but this one made me feel a little less far from "home." Great natural features abound along the whole of the trail, such as a babbling brook, some jutting rocks creating an alcove, a big boulder, elevation changes, and offshoots to explore. Some lucky inhabitants of the area actually have access to this trail from their backyards! I was supremely jealous. It's a relatively easy trail but some patches are a bit rocky, so best to wear a sturdy pair of boots if you can. Lots of shade though, so you may not require a hat or sunscreen if you won't be out long. We were able to hike the entire length of it, and back, in a little over a couple hours, so it's not an all-day type trail, but a great get-out-of-the-house-for-a-spell trail. The Boy Scouts also put up a sign to indicate the direction of Mountain View Park that you should absolutely follow as part of your visit/journey. At the top of the stairs you'll find ample green grass, tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a modern children's play structure, picnic tables, restroom, and a water fountain. So if you need a break from the trail, to relieve yourself, refill your water bottle, or just to sit down and enjoy, it's a perfect intermission. While we were there, we discovered some joyful soul had left extra sidewalk chalk out for people/kids to play with during their visit. I couldn't resist leaving a drawing myself. =) Note: there doesn't seem to be any official parking lot for this trail. Most folks were parallel parking on the slope of Scotland Well Drive and proceeding the short distance to the trail head. There was sufficient room to do so.

This is a decent sized park that has a lot going for it. There are quite a lot of amenities worth…read morementioning here such as bocce ball court, gaga ball pit, a large covered playscape, gazebo, covered picnic tables, sandy volleyball court and a really nice pool and slide for the kids. Here you will also find some fairly clean and decent public restrooms and there is a gravel trail around the perimeter which leads to other trails in the area. Next to the pool, you'll find a very nice basketball court and on the opposite side you'll find the Heritage House Museum. This park has very ample parking with numerous handicap spots. Currently, it should be mentioned that from 3 to 6 PM on Tuesdays, you'll find a small farmers market gathered in the red barn at the rear of the park. One odd item that is also at the rear of the park is a very large old piece of farming equipment rusting into the ground. Plenty of photos included to add more insight.

Trails wind through a pack of trees and along a creek bed, creating a relaxing environment for walking, jogging, or simply chilling. Balcones District Park is sought after for its trails. There are both paved and unpaved paths, making it trail friendly for the novice to the more experienced hikers. The trails also connect to the larger Walnut Creek system, so it's possible to extend your walk, hike or bike ride. Within the park you will find sports activities - volleyball, paddle tennis, swimming, etc. Many park dwellers were fully engaged in sports activities. In addition, there is a children's playground for the littles in your life. There are also a covered areas for gatherings and social interaction. One area for improvement would be the maintenance of the park. Many grassy areas appeared to be overgrown and not cut for some time. With that said, it did not appear to hinder activities as the park was fully packed.

I sought this place out because it has a number of nice hiking trails. There's even a look trail that will let you go close to five miles without having to turn back. While it looks like the trail dead ends at a fence, if you continue climbing the hill you'll see that the trail continues on to the left about halfway up. Tip: The loop trail is actually a figure eight; not only that but the scenery is very pleasant; there's even cliffs and a small cave :-) The trails here go through an Austin City Park, but the land is actually owned by an HOA so please be respectful and take your trash and dog poop out with you leave.

This is a relatively new city park located around some new residential development. Its amenities…read moreinclude one small Playscape, public bathrooms, and a large covered area with seven picnic tables. The public bathrooms also have a nice water fountain built into the facility. There is also a nice paved trail that runs not only through the park, but through neighboring areas as well. There is a lot of green space that surrounds the property. There are about 19 parking spaces and 2 handicap spots. There are no grills installed here, and as a result, according to the rules, you may not bring your own grill either. So if you're coming here for a picnic, make sure nothing needs to be cooked on site. The photos included here tell the rest.
