This place is small, otherwise fairly easy to find and the check-in process is fairly quick. Anyone…read morewho's tested at Pearson Vue for professional licensure is familiar with these places. This location is primarily a food safety education organization, but is also a testing site. You check in, sign-in. You pick a locker and just empty all your pockets and put it in the locker. You sit to have your picture taken. Oh did I mention 2 forms of ID? Well, he used my driver's license and my credit card (signatures) as ID. It wasn't charged or anything. The dude was polite, after I was checked in I was offered to go in when I was ready. My appointment was 10 AM, I was checked in and ready at 9:25. Considering the exam time allotted was 3 hours, I made one trip to the restroom before starting. I got in a half hour early. With COVID people were separated by 6 feet, and the mask had to be on the whole time. Returning to the test center I was logged into the computer, I opted for materials to write out for calculations (really it was for the Parkland Formula for burns, that's all I would need it for in case that question came up) and the testing program had a calculator function available. After an hour and twenty minutes, I finished. You had the option to flag questions to go back to if you're not sure. You can also go back to the beginning of the exam and cycle through to review answers. If there are questions you didn't answer, the exam also has an option to go back to just those questions. This is the set-up for Pearson Vue's exams, my wife just had her boards the day before for Social Work. I sat for my nursing boards 7 years ago, I don't quite remember what it was like but this all felt familiar. You complete the exam (it asks you 3 times as if people with test-taking anxiety don't have enough to worry about) then the exam closes. You go back to the check-in. For nursing they didn't tell us that day, we had to wait for a letter telling us if we passed Not pertinent to the review, but a side note: there was a little cheat back then for the Nursing Boards; if you tried to register for another test after you had your NCLEX exam, but if it said you weren't qualified to register an exam date, then it meant you passed. If it allowed you to register for a test date, it meant you failed your boards. We had to wait 2-3 business days to learn if we passed after exams, but by doing this little trick we learned that day. I heard recently that this changed and you couldn't do it anymore. Now back to our regular programming. I'm wondering if it was Pearson Vue that conducted my written exam for my EMT (but that was 2007, I honestly have no clue, the examinations were written by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, one of 5 states not part of national registry at that time). I found out the day of for my EMT, and I found out that day that I passed my examination for CEN. My wife also found out she passed after exiting the exam. Oh, and there is a camera on you with you being monitored the whole time. The examination process is pretty tight and rigid.
