I absolutely recommend Servpro! The faucet in the pantry had not been turned off completely and we woke up to a disastrous water mess! On a Sunday within 2 hours Servpro arrived! After mopping up the hardwood flooring which was soaked and the concrete basement floor and the dripping wet original 1858 structural beams, they installed at least 12 commercial fans and dehumidifiers that were removed three days later. Yes, there are issues that need to be dealt with, but they are on top of it. They've spoken directly to my insurance company. They've taken care of everything. Note: This is not an indictment of Servpro the corporation. Just Servpro of Washington County. One star. That's a joke. Can I go into negative stars? These guys are incompetent, dishonest, lying ambulance chasing opportunists that take advantage of other folks misfortune in order to enrich themselves. On April 28th we had a house fire that killed three beloved animals and pretty much trashed our house. Before the hoses were back on the firetruck, Servpro manager "Dave" was in my yard saying he was "driving by" and stopped to "help". While I was off taking my pets to the local vet for cremation, he told my wife he could board up the house and left his card. How lucky for us he was "driving by". Within a couple of days he told me he could not only clean up the debris and store our belongings, but rebuild the house as well. He sent me a quote as did another contractor. I had no idea Servpro was in the contracting business. I thank God, my lucky stars, karma and everything else you can think of that I didn't pick them. Here's why. "Dave" walked through the house with me and told me we could be back in the house in two months. To my eye, and to the adjusters eye, the house needed to be gutted. Dave said Servpro has special paint that will keep the smoke smell contained in the walls. Or as Forrest Gump would put it, "Magic Paint". He said it would take a week to clean out the debris and then they could get started. I told him there was another bidder and I would get back to him. He asked at that point if I would like them to dispose of the contents that had been smoke damaged and I said yes, and thanked him. He also stated that the possessions we were going to keep, upon there arrival at Servpro, would be cleaned, boxed, labeled and stored in crates ready to go when the house was finished. Sounds like making the best of a bad situation. Not exactly. The Magic Paint comment made me nervous and their quote seemed to be a bit low so, after some research, I picked the other contractor. After 5 months of phone calls and assurances that everything was going just fine, I called and told them we would be ready to go in about three weeks. Dave said fine, we will set up a date. One week later I called and was told that Dave was out on an injury and that "Aldo" would take over. Aldo informed me that they "weren't quite through" cleaning our things, my electronics hadn't been returned by their "electronics vendor", and Aldo wasn't sure when they would be ready to move us back. WTF? I told him what Dave had said and he just said "okay". Now what does that mean? I went down to their facility to see how thing were going and discovered they had crated the stuff when it was soot covered and reeked of smoke. "Not quite finished" meant they hadn't even started cleaning. Items that left the house undamaged were destroyed or broken to the point of uselessness. Two of the items he claimed were out "at the vendor" were clearly visible in the back of a crate. Didn't think I noticed, did you? And some things were "missing". I am not ready to call them thieves just yet. I have a 20 foot storage locker filled with unmarked boxes of smoke damaged God knows what that I had to rent because they disposed of nothing. Aldo's answer when asked about what happened is just a dejected "I don't know". Well gee, Aldo, who does know, then? Your mom? Santa? Maybe I'll find all the missing items in my new 20 foot home away from home. I suspect not and will update the review either way. My main point is that they came to me and made a bad situation worse. They were honest about nothing from the start. I suspect Dave "drove by" because he has a police scanner as all good ambulance chasers do. I suspect there is no "electronics vendor". When I asked if the electronics still worked, Aldo said the vendor "cleaned them but never plugged them in". WTF number 2? I suspect I could find some of my belongings on E-Bay. I suspect these guys are going to bullshit their way into going out of business. As I noted at the start, this is not an indictment of Servpro the corporation. Just Servpro of Washington County. They should be avoided at all costs. Note: The men who helped us move back in were very good and worked hard. I thank them all. You can't help who you work for guys. Update: Someone who works there opened the trunk of my late son's belongings and stole a bag with about 5 dollars in change that was in his pocket when he was killed. I certainly hope the two beers were worth the karma hit I hope is coming your way. Scumbags! Update 2: Yup. They are officially thieves. As I worked my way through the storage locker I should never have had to rent, I came upon some Nintendo Wii games. Knowing a friend had two sons who would enjoy them, I stopped by his place of work and dropped them off. Fully half of the game boxes were empty. Thanks guys. Servpro of Washington County. After the flood in Colorado, I called ServPro, and they sent Dion from Washington County RI out to take a look at my flooded crawlspace. I had maybe four inches of water. The estimate to dry it out? $15,368.00. That's right. Over $15k to haul out some lumber and place dehumidifiers. This company is predatory and price gouging. It's horrible that these people can look you in the eye after a natural disaster and try to take you for as much as they can get. Absolutely horrible. I found a local shop to do the job for $1,000, or 1/15 of the price Dion quoted me. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. read more

The insurance adjuster recommended these folks to remediate the impact of a small house fire. Granted, my needs were not extensive - some heavy cleaning and soot removal mostly. I can't say enough good things about this company. I say this because I know nothing about what needed to be done in my home after a pipe burst this past winter and flooded my finished basement. I was frantic and my insurance agent told me to call Servpro. They told me how to shut the main water off to avoid further damage and stated they'd be on site within an hour. 35 minutes later three vans arrived and the leader told me exactly what they planned on doing. They began the work and detailed exactly what they were doing any time a new piece of equipment came out or a new technique began. I appreciated this because I know nothing about restoring and I didn't want to lose my carpet and furniture. Four days later I was back to normal and they handled all of the insurance paperwork (at my request). Not only was I as good as new, I didn't lose a single item. The deal breaker for me was when they called back a week later simply to make sure everything was ok. When bad things happen you need reputable people to help. So I gave them a call and after getting off the phone they were at my home with in 30 min, I was amazed how quickly the arrived. I had spoken to the project manager and the technicians that arrived at my home and they were very honest and very polite throughout the situation I had. On September 7th, 2011 our home was inundated by flood waters due to tropical storm Irene. The water completely submerged our basement, and the first level of our home had about a foot of flood water in it for approximately three days. We decided to go with ServPro because of the stellar reputation it has in our community. Unfortunately, this was not the case with ServPro of Washington County!! Dave (we're not sure of his last name) showed up--he was not carrying any ServPro identification, or wearing anything that would have identified him as part of the ServPro team. He gave my husband a piece of paper with his first name and phone number on it stating that he had run out of business cards. He verbally identified himself as being from ServPro, so my husband escorted him in. Dave quoted us $3.00\ sq ft (total square footage is around 2000 feet), so we estimated costs at around $6,000. A few days later, a crew arrived at our home in unmarked white vans (no ServPro logos or identifying marks) and came in to our home to start demolition of the walls and to begin the mold mitigation process. They asked my husband to borrow his DeWalt power tools, stating if they had more tools they could completed the process faster and he agreed (since they were at the house and he wasn't using them). My husband came into our home and noticed that the tools that had been borrowed by the ServPro team were now either broken or missing. We never received any paperwork or information telling us exactly what ServPro had (or had NOT done). I met with Dave outside my house a week or so later, at this time Dave and I stood outside of my house (in the rain) as he put a survey in front of me and I filled it out on the hood of my car. Afterwards, we realized that there was still mold in the basement, and since the tools were missing and\ or damaged, I decided to call Dave in good faith in an attempt to rectify the situation. He informed me that "mold grows in basements" and that since we couldn't prove that his employees were in fact the ones that damaged the tools there was nothing that could be done. According to a mold test, there were high concentrations of mold throughout our house. I decided to call ServPro national to look into this matter. The next day, Dave called the insurance adjuster who is handling our claim to inform him that a bill will be coming--they ended up putting a lien on our home until we paid the bill and had Stanley Steemer come in and do the job right!!! I called my local SERVPRO in Boulder, CO and they had Dave and Dion from Washington County RI come to my house to assess the damage to my finished basement from the flood of September 2013. They didn't bring a meter to check moisture levels and when questioned they answered that after 20 years they just knew. I got the same answer when they said they didn't need to measure. That evening they sent me an estimate for $5790 with no specification of what would be done. The estimate said labor $3400, materials, etc. I also had Service Master send a team and they were out of Missouri. They came a few hours after SERVPRO and brought a meter to check all of my walls for moisture and pointed out one wet corner. I had already removed all of the carpet and baseboard and had fans running. They also suggested how I should deal with the cabinetry and summed it up that I had done everything right and there was little more to do. They charged me $120. The head of another local company came by and checked the situation and also thought we were in good shape but to keep the fans running and get the humidity down below the 40% it was now at.
