If you are considering hiring SERVPRO of Hershey/Swatara, please reconsider after taking a minute to read of their terrible mismanagement and complete lack of response. I had water damage in the basement of a rental property I own that occurred in early July 2021. The company came out to assess the situation in a timely manner. After weeks of telling me they were doing work and setting dehumidifiers, it turned out they had been doing the work on a neighbors home and not at my property! Despite this egregious mistake on their behalf, I was understanding of their mistake under the assumption they would surely finish work on the unit they were contracted to do work on in a timely manner. On September 13th, I visited the property and nothing has been done. Their machines were left running in my basement for weeks, mold is growing in the carpets and the walls, and they will not return phone calls or even attempt to rectify the situation. Jason Roberts, the general manager has told me twice they will be out to the property and has clearly not shown up on either occasion. Dave the owner is lackluster and was not even aware that the work was not completed and seemingly had no idea they even made a mistake. When I had to have mold removal done in my laundry room, I contacted 2 companies. The first company wanted $150 just to come look at the project. I then contacted SERVPRO and they came at no charge within a day. Jason was so helpful. The job was finished within 3 days. Jason gave me suggestions on what the problem might be and and how to fix it. He even came back the next day after the work was done to see if there was anything he could do to help fix the problem. I hope I do not need to have this service again, but if I do, I most definitely will call SERVPRO. I highly recommend this company. read more

When something as devastating as a house fire hits your family, you immediately look for the "life boat" that is going to keep you afloat, and if possible, help you find your way back to normal. For our family, that life boat was unquestionably SERVPRO of Hershey. Of all the decisions we made during that critical time, we are most grateful that Joe Lapp at SERVPRO of Hershey took our call. Over the next 10 months, Joe and his entire team were a bright spot as we rebuilt our lives, a knowledgeable voice of guidance as we navigated a major insurance claim and a complicated rebuild, and literally the best, most detail-oriented, professional, and talented group of craftsmen I have ever worked with in my life. They were a God-send for us. We cannot recommend them enough. While there are literally too many instances of how SERVPRO of Hershey helped us to write in a reasonable review, here are some of the most incredible ones: 1) Our house fire happened on a weekend night. While I waited for what seemed like an excruciating 36 hours for my insurance company to call me back during regular business hours, Joe Lapp at SERVPRO of Hershey took our phone call at 4 in the morning. Even then, he was reassuring and agreed to meet me three hours later. He sat down with me, in a house full of smoke damage, and talked me through what to expect over the next few days. He took some of my and my children's clothes and bedding and laundered them that day, and had a member of his crew spend the entire rest of the weekend cleaning a space for us in the house so that we had some basic necessities. 2) The employees at SERVPRO of Hershey are the kindest, most patient group of individuals I have ever worked with. Every morning, they arrived happy and treated myself and my young children with empathy. They guided our family through the process of going through our things room by room, and throwing out and documenting what could not be saved. They restored to perfection any items that could be saved. They never complained - not once - about how big this job was, how urgent some of the timelines were, and how complicated our insurance could be. They did extraordinary things for us while making them seem like no big deal. One example I will never forget is - when it was suggested that my 6 year old son throw out his beloved train collection, I asked if there was any way the trains could be save (even though it was not practical). One employee volunteered to take the task on. He took apart nearly 50 trains, cleaned them inside and out with a toothbrush, before putting them back together and returning them to my son. 3) SERVPRO of Hershey's documentation is impeccable, professional and extraordinary. From providing photos of every item lost for our insurance, to providing hundreds of pages in rebuild estimates, they met to the letter all things required by our insurance and our mortgage - a staggering amount of work. 4) SERVPRO of Hershey are experts at what they do - the very best. They were able to guide us through multiple inspections, provide important documentation to our insurance, and work closely with our onsite adjuster. They performed or supervised all rebuild work, and made sure it was up to their high standards. I always felt that they were looking out for the safety and quality of the home they were rebuilding. 5) Their craftsmanship is impeccable. After the rebuild was done, the home looked truly "like it never even happened." From restoring high end finishes, to important detail work , painting, flooring, an entirely new HVAC system, dry wall, vent work, eliminating odors, extensive cleaning - they cut no corners, used the latest technology to help with their work, and did an astonishingly amazing job. Despite how devastated the house was at first, everything was back to normal when SERVPRO of Hershey was finished. We chose to sell our home after the rebuild was completed. The home showed beautifully, and we had an offer in a matter of weeks. 6) SERVPRO of Hershey is the single most trustworthy contractor I have worked with. Our family did not live at the home during much of the rebuild. Joe and I communicated often daily with calls, e-mails and photos. I never once had to check on or worry about the quality or timeliness of his team's work. SERVPRO of Hershey was an answer to many prayers during a challenging year for our family. My mom's basement had developed a severe mold problem and had to be dealt with. We had a few different companies come by to look at the situation and Joe and Jason and the rest of the staff at ServPro were absolute aces at evaluating the state of the basement, explaining what needed to be done and working with us as to the best way to remedy the situation (their estimate was also considerably less than the other companies we interviewed). They worked around our schedule, were reliable, friendly, helpful with advice for keeping things mold-free afterwards and did a great job. In the end, we were able to salvage a lot more than we were led to believe by the other companies, and the basement mold situation was remediated. In addition, when the storage pod company dragged its heels on removing the storage pod we'd put things in while the basement was cleaned, ServPro kept after them until they removed the pod so my mom could have her driveway back. I had gone to Facebook to ask for advice on a mold remediation company and several of my friends in the area recommended ServPro of Hershey/Swatara, After working with them, I can see why. My wife and I had a unexpected surprise when sewage backflow from an electrical conduit (I know, wtf) poured into our finished basement. After our homeowners insurance company sent a partner company to demolish the wet drywall, that remediation co (that shall be left unnamed) left us hanging for weeks. In comes Jason at ServPro. He was communicative, worked with our insurance company directly to figure out costs, and squeezed us into a packed schedule to get the demo, cleanup, and rebuild done properly. Our water utility closet, bathroom, and hall in the basement looks like nothing ever happened. Hell it looks better than before. Everyone on staff was polite, professional, and prompt. This team was truly remarkable. My home experienced a back to back water damage from the 1st floor to the basement of my home. I was overwhelmed with the damage to my property. After we had a devastating house fire, this company was contacted in October of 2014 by our insurance company to handle restoring our belongings. We were renting at the time and had renters insurance. We had problems with this company from day 1. They waited for over 2 weeks to start the process and then when they finally gathered our belongings our landlord complained because they left some of our fire damaged items behind for him to dispose of. It took 5 months (March 2015) for them to return our "restored" belongings and many of our belongings were not restored to pre-fire condition. Therefore we had to fight with our insurance company to prove that our belongings were damaged by the fire. And on top of them just not doing their job properly; the owner filed a lawsuit against me (the victim of a house fire) because my insurance company failed to pay in a timely manner.The owner attacked my character and yelled at me on the phone when I tried to tell him what the issue with the insurance company was. On their website; they claim to treat customers with respect and empathy but that is definately NOT what I experienced!! We finally settled the lawsuit matter last week (well over a year since the house fire) after being bullied by the owner for 6 months! read more
